Oh that is such a tricky situation, and I'm sorry that the travel into work has been such an expensive endeavor! It's honourable that you are thinking it could be good time to sell some of the collection, but as you said you can rebuy some of them in time!
Oh, that's rough. I had to getvrid of a lot of books a while back as well, due to moving. What helped me was making a list of the books I absolutely wouldn't live without, including sentimental copies, then going through everything else. I have rebought a few books, but i got them secondhand, sveral on Kindle, and honestly, I've found that I don't miss most of the ones I sold.
@literarydevery2333 that's reassuring to hear. I think I'll do the same, and remove all the ones that really matter before going through the rest. Thank you 😊
What a tough call! I don't envy you as I would be hard-pressed to get rid of most of my books. I have done so in the past in order to move across country but it was painful. Sorry, but I don't think I offered any encouragement or solution!🤔
@@binglamb2176 that's OK. It's so difficult. At the end of the day, they are only things. But they're MY things! Did you find you missed the books you had to get rid of?
My thought is that it’s not really financially viable to sell your books. You will never get the value back for these books. Neither the value you paid or what they are worth to you. It would cost you more when you come to replace them. There’s no money in selling books online because postage is whopping and people are not prepared to pay that on top, especially when big book sellers offer free postage because they are prepared to make pennies on each book because they have the huge scale. If you were made redundant do you have redundancy money coming that you could use for lessons?
@abiwk04 I have a small redundancy package coming, and I will be using a portion of that to fund my lessons, so hopefully won't need to make a lot extra on top of that. Thank you for your thoughts, I will have to consider carefully what goes and what may be harder to replace.

Pardon the typos, I'm on my phone

Start with the easiest and most obvious to sell - see how it goes from there. It’ll a least be a start of a small fund to get you going.
@nolita505 I keep going to look at my shelves to start sorting them out, and walking away again 😆 this may take a while!

@@zombieprincess82 Absolutely. I ended up spending a ton of money to buy many of them all over again. Not very fiscally responsible!😂

@@zombieprincess82 that’s good. I hope it goes well and that you’re a quick learner, needing fewer lessons 👍
Why dont you donate those books to such a poor reader like me.?
