Honestly I prefer this release over the green bricks. Slipcovers and cardboard cases always get dinged up over time. This will probably hold up. This release also gives me clamshell nostalgia. Reminds me of the old Anime Legends boxsets, VHS clamshells, and rental cases. I can understand not getting this if you already own the green bricks, but I didn't.. Pretty happy with the purchase.
@@dreamsneaks8288 honestly not the biggest gt expert. I've watched the green bricks once and never opened this set, I always assumed it was the same on the disc
Yep. I'm not getting it either. This is a pathetic and mediocre release. If Crunchyroll really wanted, they could've finally released the GT Dragon Boxes.
Cool! Peter Kelamis the 2nd voice of Goku in the Ocean Dub just got announced at Gem State Comic Con in Expo Idaho and I’m really excited to meet him and get my World’s Strongest DVD and or my Dragon Ball Z Arrival Clamshell VHS cover signed by him
I bought this set in wal mart since my little brother wants to collect dragonball. this set looks awesome very small want both sets just one plastic case. I have the other one with the big slip both sets in them.
It’s the same disks from the previous releases watch an unboxing of the same set last night I’m actually surprised og Dragon Ball didn’t get the same treatment yet but will probably come out sometime soon
Im just trying to get some straight answers on some things, cause the internet doesn't seem to have any. It says on the back it has English dub with the original Japanese score, but does it have the American replacement score too? And not as big a deal but does it have the American rap opening song? As cringey as it is I still prefer it over the Japanese opening. I don't wanna get the entire series just to find out it doesn't have any of the American replacements at all cause personally same as dbz I find it to be pretty unwatchable with the original Japanese music.
I agree with DBZ. But as for dbgt I'm not sure. I only watched thru it once and I loved the music. Btw I did watch on the green bricks so it would've been the same disc as this video. But I don't remember changing any settings while watching so whatever was default I used.
@@BigDoont246 I just like what I like and that's all there is to it. You can prefer the original Japanese for any reasons you want too but I don't have to. It's not like I've never seen a subbed anime in my life I've been watching anime since I was like 4 years old and I know which ways I prefer to watch what shows. I've tried watching dbz and gt with original Japanese music a lot of times cause it's the easiest version to find anywhere and I hate it. I don't like subbed in the first place I'm actually just referring to the music here cause there's versions of the dub that keeps the original music. This is already a very decided thing for me I know there's differences between everything but it's up to every individual viewer to decide if they even care and which way they prefer and being the original doesn't automatically make it superior.
@@BigDoont246 I don't really have a preference over either one of those lines they are both good lines. You prefer a version that has the same elderly woman voicing Goku's entire family that literally distinctly sounds like an elderly woman for all of them? I can do that childish garbage too. We can argue all day about how bad we think each other's preferred versions are or we can just grow up and respect the preference for what it is. If you wanna be extra elitist about it I guess we can talk about how the manga is superior to everything or something since that's the real og canon version of it all. Do you have to read that in original Japanese lettering to be able to enjoy that too or Is the occasional mistranslation just gonna absolutely ruin the entire experience? I'm not here to argue what anybody thinks is better. I've been saying the whole time enjoy what you enjoy and I'll enjoy what I enjoy. Idk what's so hard about you people being able to accept this and letting people just enjoy things the way they want to. Idk what the hell happened to just sitting back and enjoying a show it always has to be some nonsense argument about how the way one person likes it is wrong. It's ridiculous. Go enjoy the show I really don't care how you do it. Just don't push that preference onto me and act like your right over what amounts to basic understanding of how opinions work. Typical sub watcher watches a guy literally say "I just enjoy it the way i do and go enjoy it the way you do too and that's fine" and still sits there bringing up line differences arguing how your version is correct as if the other person cares. It's always the same garbage with you people. I didn't ignore the question at all, I essentially said "I don't care I just enjoy it the way I do" and you were too brain dead to even have some basic reading comprehension which shouldn't be a surprise I guess if we are really having this conversation.
@@BigDoont246 go do every future person you ever talk to a big favor and touch some damn grass once in a while. Hello Colt, i would like to give you a tip of something to do in the future, i was thinking that maybe if Funimation/Crunchyroll stoped releasing Dragon Ball DVDs/VHS/Blu-rays, maybe you could collect other anime stuff like One Piece, Yu Yu Hakusho, Yu-Gi-Oh, or maybe even Sailor Moon, you can pick yourself, but i was just theorizing on what you could do with your time because im afraid that live streaming is going to take over the platform and ruin home formats forever unfortunately, i am just trying to help you get through the stupid live streaming bullcrap.(Sorry if was being a nuisance to your channel you can still do product reviews on the rest of your DB stuff, im just trying to look out for you bud!)
Thanks for the ideas. Unfortunately I honestly don't want to collect other shows because I have sooo much already lol. And Im very content with what I have. I do have some Yu-Gi-Oh stuff and I still collect retro games. But I mainly do the db videos as a reference for anyone out there that needs it and to preserve the history of it. I do want to get more into gaming on this channel tho!

It is indeed different lol. But yea for the price it isn't bad.
What release is the one you slid in next to the newest one?
Do both of the complete series have a 4:3 picture, or did Funi settle for cropped widescreen?
Does it have the original English broadcast soundtrack?
