Watercolor Tutorial: Strawberry Doodle // New Skillshare Class

- Hi guys! So I recently launched a new skilshare class on how to paint realistic strawberries without using reference. And I thought I'd make a simpler version of it here with less steps and something more approachable for everyone.
This class is probably one of the harder classes that I have made, and it does require a bit of knowledge and background, but either way, I still tried to break down the information as detailed as possible so hopefully a lot of you are able to follow through. The steps that I made for this one was so difficult for me to figure out and explain, so I hope you guys will check it out, and enjoy the class as well as this video.

Absolutely fascinating! I would never have thought ORANGE was in the mix of layers! The white areas are just stunning as they lend to the illusion of both highlighted shininess of the strawberry as well as a look of wetness. This was VERY informative & I want to try this exercise myself to see if I can get the same results! Thanks so much for sharing!!! :D

@@Nianiani Yes a very cute name, I would buy it, not just because it would taste delicious looking at your strawberries but I would just love to say, "Strawberry Doodle please" . Great name for a cartoon character also. "The ups and downs of Strawberry Doodle" hey, I would watch it or read the book while eating my delicious Strawberry Doodle. Love your brilliant art work and tutorials BTW.

I have never seen such a gorgeous strawberry picture. I painted strawberries for years and always enjoyed painting them. I can tell you, never did I ever come close to your painting. I congratulate you. I enjoyed your painted immensely. Thank you!!!!

Loved this! It’s so fun to watch a flat drawing “become” a dimensional painting by using shading and negative space. Thank you. I really want to improve on painting curved and curled leaves. Your are wonderful here!
Love your teaching style, clear-to the point. I also love that you have paint in the wells of your palette. So many people just dab a teeny tiny tentative spot of each color- then expect to make Art 🙄
Do you know the more you mix mix mix the paint together on the palette, the more it breaks down the pigments-making it chalkier/duller than if you mix it less?
Try it out-
1)hyper mix two colors on the palette - apply to paper.
2) use the same two colors, mix it half & half (half on palette, let the other half of the mixing happen on the pre-moistened paper)
3)let the two colors mix entirely on the pre-moistened paper.
Result?? Colors that glow like watercolor is supposed to 🤗🎨 (assuming, like here, artist quality paint is used)
mytube that’s a cool point! I have noticed that the more I mix my paint the duller it looks, but never actually know the technical reason. Thank you for sharing! I usually like to go to my palette first before applying it on paper because I like the paint to be well distributed on my brush. Your point is so interesting though, I’lol try to keep that in mind while I paint next time. Thanks for the info again 🤗

What a beautiful little collection of strawberries. I can tell that this will be a lot of fun to create. Thank you, especially, for adding that extra touch to the splatter area with the deliberately-placed and blotted-up spots. That's a really nice new tool for the visual-interest toolbox.

All were good and used different techniques but I think yours is best suited to my ability plus I have grown more confident because I am used to your style.
