After the weather turns horrible on north island we stayed the last two weeks on the South Island.

Wow, beautiful images, as what we're used to from you guys. I remember from my one trip to NZ how the skies get this really specific shade of blue that we here in Europe never see and this video brought all that back.
I hope you and your loved ones didn't get hit too hard by the three consecutive "once in a century" storms that hit the north. Kia kaha!
Thanks so much! I'm glad we had nice weather for most of our trip. It's crazy to see all these places we rode are now underwater. We couldn't have done the trip now. Even one of the charging stations I used was crushed by a huge tree. Luckily down in Wellington we're not too affected by the cyclone. It's just a good excuse to stay inside and edit video!
Yep, definitely agree with Lottin Point, that was my hang out for land based fishing in the 80s.
I'm still riding, living in Brizzy now, I fabricated rod holders for my zx14.
Im in my mid 60s, still love my bikes and fishing.

Awesome!! Let me know when you're in Wellington. I hope the roads are open / repaired by then. The big cyclone destroyed a lot of the North Island. Most of the places we rode to (even in this video) no longer exist :\

Woow, really cool trip. The weather was lovely on the last day. Beautiful views and places. I have never heard about that tree. I saw a very old oak tree in the Sherwood forest in England, but it is nothing compared to the one you filmed. Great recordings and editing as always. It is definitely worth the wait!

Haha yeah she loved that little bike! It's a Yamaha so it was a way more reliable choice than the Triumph.

You guys are lucky to have done the east cape road before the cyclone devastated the region. Those roads will not be open for quite a while.

Actually a bit of a shock to me to realise it's been that long. Maybe I should spend less time looking at newzeroland and more time in my garage....maybe not!!😄😄😉

For USA and Brit watchers the jetty / pier was 2,165 feet long. Almost 1/2 a mile.

Real cool video Sam. So scenic as well. I've never been up as far as you went only to Tolaga Bay. No excuse I lived in Gisborne for 3 months before I went to live in Auckland. Really appreciate all the effort you put into the videos as well. I'll bet you're both glad your not on the East Coast and Coromandel after what they've had and now Cyclone Gabriel. Hope you are both ok. Looking forward to the next video. I'm coming back for a month in September. I miss NZ. Take care y'all.

You pronounce those places a lot easier than I ever would. The Giant t4ree almost like like something someone would use for a house in a Tolkien book. The thing that gets me is how green everything is on thes trips, I know you've got that Other side of the world thing going on, but with things so winter season gray here it's just nice to see some life. Hey, you forgot to update the doggo counter!
Thanks! I'm trying but the emphasis on some of these Maori words is totally not where I think it should be haha. Coming from California, it's wild to see so much green during summer. I'm so used to brown death. New Zealand is on a similar latitude to Washington State, so the rainforest-y ferns and even redwood trees are here. And I'm gonna lose count of how many doggos we came across on this trip!

Dude nice!! The trip is completed but the video series is far from finished 😂 I probably have another 4 or 5 videos to make. What do you / did you ride in California? I used to have a black 2005 R6 but that was a long time ago. Feels like a whole lifetime ago! I miss those roads a lot. Redwood, Pinehurst, all the way down to Hwy 9 and Skyline, Bear Creek. Ahh it's a fantasy land for bikes!
@@NewZeroland The only State with legal filtering! A dream indeed! Weekend rides out to Santa Cruz, but Hwy 1 I always saved for mid day rides on the week days, less traffic. My first street bike was a '96 cbr600f3 I got in '03 then upgraded in '07 to a brand spanking new Cbr600rr Honda red, named her Smashley. And too too many bikes to list here since then 😹 These days I can't seem to get away from my Piaggio BV350's I'm on my 5th one now, too hard to pass up the under seat storage while still getting my twist & go fix 😻 I liken it to strapping a dinning room chair to a motorcycle 😹😹

@@NewZeroland I know your cali friends and fans would love a meet! Sometimes me and my buds would go on what we called "putt putt rides" meaning just keep it chill and enjoy the ride, the rest is for the track. (though I've never actually done a track day ha)
There’s also potential at the tourist areas like that bay you went to, you could be charging there in the future!

@@NewZeroland Just got new tires on my 2016 SR, but I don't think I can keep up with your Energica without charging more often. How much is a flight from Denver, anyway?
@@Causemoi haha all good.. hard to compete with a 21.5kWh battery! Flights can vary a lot.. but probably $2-3k round trip. It's more about the flight time. You're looking at ~15hrs in the air!
I like these videos because I just bought myself an energy ego RS unfortunately I live in Canada so I have to wait until spring to actually ride the thing LOL second electric bike should be a lot of fun

@@NewZeroland will do, I have a app on my phone called plugshare it says there's a good amount of charging ports around me but I'll let you know what it's like I live in New Brunswick they're making the switch to electric vehicles quite rapidly around here
Great video, we will now have to go back to East Cape and spend a bit more time exploring. The communication between your bikes is great, what do you use if you don't mind me asking.
Thanks! We use Sena 10C Evos for the intercoms / helmet cameras. I have a love hate relationship with them because the range isn't very good, the battery life when shooting video sucks, and I'm constantly getting errors on my SD cards. Being able to record conversations is worth it though.
Beautiful video. Worth the wait. The close up dog sniff of the camera was fun, the camera/com setups on your helmets seems to be working really well. Are you still using the chin mount GoPro or both using the side camera?
Thanks bro! Nah, the conversations were recorded with Sena 10C Evos. They shoot video and record audio from both intercoms in one. Video quality isn't that great, but they came in handy for the fun chats.
That’s what it was. I remember looking into the Sena video com sets a while ago. Good audio quality.
Just remember you are a pro at video stuff so the video quality will seem less to you. It’s like me watching some one put a bushing in a drill and use sand paper or a hack saw to “machine” the bushing. 😬

Nice!! I need to update that with the new bikes. We don't own the Ego OR the Zero anymore, but it was a fun drawing our friend did, so I kept the logo there. NZ is expensive for houses but cheap for food. Tax is included and there's no tipping 😁

Like you videos. Making consider the possibilities. Does the bike have phone and helmet connectivity or heated grips? I ride a BMW s1000rr and I couldn't have a bike without those things now. If you did a video about it, I missed it.
Nice! No connectivity yet.. there will be an app soon with GPS, but they're still working on it. Heated grips are built in, as is cruise control, but no electronic suspension. That's something I wish Energicas had.
@NewZeroland Thanks for the reply. I am at a point where I am happy to move on from the BMW, but I have been spoilt with all of the mod-cons that I can't live without now. Going to make the next purchase difficult.
