    Fun fact: the Mini you were standing behind at 4:40 is actually an full EV. The battery is small and the range is something like 180 km real-life.
    As for chaging stations: Tesla Superchargers are usually in groups of at least 12 here in Belgium, and some hold twice as many stalls. In the Netherlands and Norway they go up to 42 stalls.
    Other brands of DC charge stations are sorely lagging, though: most of them are from Ionity and they usually offer 4 to 8 stalls - with almost certainly one or two broken ones. So in the summertime, you see long queues at DC chargers along the highways to southern Europe vs some chill Tesla drivers at Superchargers. Tesla has opened most Superchargers for EV's from other brands, but somehow people seem to prefer standing in line for Ionity. Maybe because the Tesla app is apparently not so user-friendly if you need to charge a non-Tesla?

    • @NewZeroland
      @NewZeroland  Год назад +1

      Man yes! It still seems like there are Teslas and non-Teslas in the EV world. It doesn't make sense to buy anything else for long trips yet. I hope they open up their superchargers in NZ soon! That would be a game changer for our bikes, but would probably make road tripping in our Tesla less fun 😂 I'm torn.

It'd already be outlawed to do it that way, and we'd be able to just use a credit card to start the charge.

    Regarding charge apps. 13 networks now in Australia, I prefer a RFID card, quicker and easier. Some do Plug&Charge also called Autocharge. In Germany they have a roaming system. For example I have a Shell recharge RFID and it did ALL AC and DC chargers over there. But difficult to know how much you end up paying. Honestly Tesla did it right from day1: Supereasy to use and minimum 4 stalls 120kW or 250kW and they always work. In NSW it's now up to $2200 to block a charging station in QLD $350.

    my answer is to scream at the loudest... Just swipe! ... Look, if all petrol stations can manage to accept money, duh, either in cash or card format, I really do not see why chargers have to be sooooo difficult. After all, there are so few of them that they do not need a loyalty scheme (yet), but even when that is a thing, then they still want to be able to nab the customers that either are not part of the scheme, or who do not want to ride the next couple of k's to the charger of another brand, or even just do not want to wait cause their fav charger is being used by another person...
    BUT, most of all, why do not all petrol station put in another 5 chargers in all their stations. That would save loads of money by the set up, and the whole shop, café, or garage/mechanic facilities already exist. And the energy companies would earn on electricity too, which would help stop them trying to block the electric development. But for the biker/driver, you would not need an app, or a map to find the damn things because petrol stations are already on every corner, - just about.
