Birds of Northern South Africa part 8

- This is a continuation of the series: birds of northern South Africa.
In this series of short video's we we focussed on bird species with a distribution more or less limited to the eastern part of the country. We included also some shots of nesting and feeding birds which can also be found elsewhere.
December 2019 was very wet with torrential rains during several days. Nature turned very green with bush flowers we did not see previously in december. Images were shot in Kruger NP and in the NP's of Kwazulu Natal.

One of my favorite videos by you Guy; thanks so much!

Incredible footage of the Gorgeous Bushshrike!!!
hello Justin,
It took me half an hour to get a couple of seconds of footage.
Ther were two males calling each other and chasing around, moving every two seconds from one branch to another.
he gorgeous bush shrike! this was my most frustrating experience this year.

Excellent
😄👍😄
How exactly did the ‘Plum-coloured Starling’ get its name ..... ?
Awesome footage as always. Seems better, did you change cameras or lenses?
no, I still use the same camera's.
the image quality however depends on multiple factors.
First if I can get close enough and shoot without my focus doubler I get sharper images. Add on lenses always deteriorate image quality. Second the light condition: noise is smoothing the details. Third:if I can shoot in 4K 25P, I do it, but the condition is that the subject is not moving too fast. I mostly use it for shooting when the bird is far away, so that I can crop to enlarge the image during editing. Finally in most instances I have to focus manually, which can be tricky, particularely in bright sunlight.
regards
Fantastic videos as usual but can I make a suggestion. In every video I've seen of yours I can hear Rita's camera focusing 'Beep' sounding in the background. If you set her camera to silent the constant beeping throughout the videos would disappear. Just a suggestion. Great vids otherwise.
hello Shaun,
good suggestion, but it is not only her camera beeping, I will try to silence them all, but I must admit that I rely to some extend to the feedback of the beep.
