Especially in quarantine this is the best time to start catching up on natural hair growth
Morgie RIGHT! My whole point 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Yes, I just finished scalp braiding the front and box braiding the back of my head yesterday. Hunty ian got time to fool with my hair right now 😁😁
I want to buy products but I don’t know where to buy it
JavaFruit started a month ago and my hair is growing like a weed
Giovanny Amazon, iherb, Walmart and Target
Most of the time it’s not like I don’t want to take care of my hair it’s mostly because I don’t have any product and my parents won’t buy them for me
You could use fruits and vegetables. Look up some DIYs.
get you some shea butter and olive oil. you got you a cream right there
Wash and condition your hair (it doesn't have to be the expensive stuff, just regular shampoo and conditioner) every day or every other day. It makes your hair retain moisture and you won't need any other product. You can then braid your hair or something since we are quarantining. Check out @Synergisalon here on YT 4 more info
Ruth Anyasi if she has natural hair I highly recommend that she does NOT wash her hair everyday or every other day. I wouldn’t recommend ppl whether natural or not washing their hair every single day
@@ruthanyasi8290 Girl no please. Washing hair every day is extremely bad advice and not natural hair friendly. Her hair should be washed weekly.
When she said touch your hair ... I did... when she asked if it was dry... I felt attacked 😩
When you asked “Why [is ya hair dry]?” I went “PLEASE.” 😢
Sam M Lmaoooooo girl u know what to do! 👀
Man quarantine got me active active. Im staring a business, starting my natural hair journey, working out, like I’m tryna be BOMB when we get out. Got a job and everything.

Well I can’t twist my wash n go cause I recently big chop🤷🏾♀️
@@edline401, dats ok, it will grow out. I went natural in October 2017, I chopped my hair in October 2018 for my bday in a tapered cut, then again in February 2019 same type of cut.
Dis time I decided dat would be my last chop....so now my hair has grown out.
My hair at the top n front reaches my chin, d hair on the sides n back reaches a lil pass my neck so I can twist it....but girl I have serioussssss shrinkage going on....I only see my full length when I wash my hair. 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️

Girl my hair has been in two strand twist tied up in a bun for a month. I moisturise with oils in my scalp every 2/3 days and I spray with leave in or aloe and peppermint oil once a week. I took it out last night and my hair was stilllll soft 💓
How often do you wash your hair?
Normally every week. But during this period of time I’ve been keeping it in twists for a month each time.
Do you have high or low porosity hair?
Chelsea Erem it was extremely high before, and it remained high even after I cut off my ends and did consistent protein treatments and deep conditioners. But last time I checked it seems normal now. But I still treat it as high. Except I don’t use heavy butters or heavy oils
I wash and condition my hair once a week, because my hair thrives when I have a clean scalp and also to prevent scalp irritation.
-I will blow dry my hair on low heat on wash days to prevent ssk
-I also use a heat cap while deep conditioning my hair to open up my low porosity hair cuticles
-I’m not touching my hair at all unless it’s wash day
-I’ll keep my hair in twists
- I will scalp massage my hair daily
Same here I wash my hair every week and my scalp feels so much better, even when i use heat i wont stretch it out for a month. I noticed my hair retains moisture through weekly washes, deep conditioning and hot-oil treatments.
That’s a lot of manipulation. IDK wats your hair type but if your 4B/4C that’s a lot. Are you retaining any length? I do Monthly. But right now, I’m doing BiWeekly because I’ve been styling my hair in a Bun/Puff.
Abb B hey thanks for your advice I respectfully receive. I have 4b/a hair low porosity, I’ve been retaining length, I’m shedding less. The reason I wash my hair more often is because I get product build up like crazy. Also I’m chillin with the heat now during lockdown
Yes weekly washing and DC has helped my hair and scalp so much!
Cinnamon C Your routine is on LOCK. 🔒💪🏾👌🏾
Twist are a life saver. I started wearing twist to grow my hair. And now my hair is waist length, I wear it twisted because it's a lot to deal with. 😅 I love her though😘
Nicole Ekotson what is your hair type ?
“ Oh come back ... please come back ...... Oh “ 💀😂😂😂😂😂😂
My hair has been in twist for almost 3 weeks and I still moisturize them everyday or ever other day and the I put it in two space buns 💕💕 at the 4 week mark ima wear it out for about 5 days and then wash it and twist it right back up and boom space buns again... I think having the confidence to wear a protective style out the house is going to benefit me in the long run ✨✨✨also this pandemic does help
😍😍😍
How do you moisturize the twist? Do you take them out, moisturize than retaliation?
21 Rhinestone no I just spray my two sections with water use a curl smoothie and a grease or oil then I slick it back up I’ve actually seen results I just took it out and my hair looks so huge I’m about to trim, wash, and twist it up and do it again
Jaiyna Aaliyana what do you twist your hair with?
Brooke M the mielle organics pomegranate & honey twisting souffle and super gro hair grease and for refreshing the mielle organics pomegranate & honey curl smoothie
Girl I love your personality...
MrsW Clarke Thanks so much 😘
I am the QUEEN OF “I’ll do it on my weekend off” but when time comes, I’m like I’ll do it another day. 😩🤣 Meanwhile at LEAST 3 times out the day I’ve tuned into RUclips watching tutorials on the next hair style I swear I’m going to wear 😩😂😩. That first step is what sends me spiraling back 😩😩😩💆🏾♀️🧼🚿🤣🤷🏾♀️
finally someone with hair like mine😩 when it’s wet it’s loose and curly and when it’s dry it’s kinky coily
This is literally what I been doing since the second day I was on lockdown. Same. Wash, deep condition, detangle, grease scalp, moisturize, seal, twist, tie down and scalp massage everyday. I started using Kuza Indian hemp again to seal with cuz my hair eats up oils and I have never seen my hair so happy. My curls are at their healthiest and I finally have shrinkage 🙌🏽🙌🏽 no breakage either its great
I’ve been saying this since quarantine started! I currently have my hair in mini twist and I remoisturize when needed throughout the week. This really is the best time to take care of your hair because we aren’t going anywhere 😂
This is the first thing I was thinking about high school is right around the corner and I'm trying to have a Mini glow up been oiling my eyebrows, lashes, and hair every day taking care of my skin and leaving my hair in twists and I heard ubh products are good can you maybe do a review on them? They are also very affordable
LOL @ the intro!!!! My hair has been in plaits for a month, but I still do a weekly wash day because I gotta keep my scalp clean and hair detangled and moisturized.
When she said “followed by laziness” I felt attacked 😭😭😂🙈
Lmaoooooo
I always wanted to try a twist out and I never did one because I was scared of how it would turn out. And be bullied at school. I also never had time. Now I got so much time. Thanks for the tips
this makes me sad 🥺 we shouldn't be scared to play with styles because of the fear of being bullied.
It’s sad that we can’t even try something out without thinking about how losers will react in school. Hopefully this doesn’t stop you for perfecting a good twist out!!
I'm using chebe this period, it's the perfect time since we're not going anywhere 😁
Chy Daniel i literally just did a 2 week chebe treatment and had my hair in scarves the whole time. Washed it all out yesterday and when I tell you I saw a difference!!! Just woowww so yess go ahead with your chebe hun and get ready for some bomb results!!! Happy hair journey!
Chy Daniel Which brand did you use? Can you provide us with a link to the product please Chy? Thanks!
@@bukiodutayo7667 I've never been happier about a decision 💃💃 thank you
@@nubianempress832 I used the "Grow inches' brand but Sahel cosmetics is another good brand
Nubian Empress I used the Sahel cosmetics brand. I bought it in Nigeria but here’s a link to where you can get it on Amazon: www.amazon.com/Cosmetics-Traditional-Chadian-African-Secrets/dp/B07ZG2S9TQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=chebe+powder&qid=1586891217&refresh=1&sprefix=chebe+powder&sr=8-4
So I would end up doing my hair every night, and then my dad gets angry because I'm 'always' doing my hair
yess, im definitely doing these things!! this quarantine is really giving me time to focus on my hair. i’ve been applying oils and moisture as well as deep conditioning more frequently 😌😌
Girl I have been doing this however I perfer braids
I'm low porosity. I recommend you deep condition weekly. Remoisturize as needed. I need to do it max every 3 to 4 days.I give myself a protein treatment once or twice a month.
I already do everything you said in the video. However, at the moment my hair is shorter because I got a haircut last summer. So, I don't do twist outs because they take away too long. Instead, I do you wash and goes a couple times a week.
I’ve been calling it my Quarintine hair glow up. I was like I’m not gone be seeing nobody from school so why not 😂
the “wash and stay home” part got me cracking up 😭😭
Your hair has really grown!
This is also the time to reflect on your personal journey and engage in lots of self care. I have found this time to be a real eye opener with regards to areas of my life that need improvement.
I literally woke up this morning an it fell in my spirit that I am resting further damage to my hairline hiding it under weaves. I already had breakage an there is now recession because of wigs. It’s terrible because I say I will care for my hair underneath them an I keep damaging it. Praise God my hair is strong an resilient considering all the damage but real y’all my edges are fine an thin an I have to work on promoting health and restoring them. Let your hair breathe chile!
I just like how realistic and you don't have some really ratchet routine😘😘....much love
Per your recommendation, I just started twisting my hair and it’s been great keeping it from tangling and retaining hair/growth. I also recommend using Camille rose growth serum oil or the Anjani oil at night for those scalp massages and aloe Vera juice(i use Whole Foods brand) for in between wash days in case your scalp itches ! My hair grew in between one wash day!
I pampered my hair for today's wash day. It's so moisturized! Adding peppermint oil and olive oil to my deep condition mask has been a life saver.
Yassss glad you gave ur hair some TLC! 😍
I'm not sure how I arrived here, I was sipping on some grated ginger with honey like there is no tomorrow and before you know I stumbled upon your hair grown clip. 👏🏿👏🏿
That’s one of my favorite teas!
This is exactly what I was talking to my mom about the other day! Although it’s easy to get bored and want to play in my hair, nows really the best time to leave my hair alone in a protective style and let it get stronger.
PHILLLOOOO IS BACK WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED
She was sleeping on those tips, she aint ready. 😂 Too funny. And great acting. I love how organized and structured all of your video are. Great acting too!
“Oh, come back!!...Come back- 𝗼𝐡𝐡𝐡𝐡” 😂😂😂
this video is so timely😭 i’ve taken out my old cornrows, it’s freshly washed now i’m ready to moisturise it, twist it up and grow this hair😤😤😤
I just twisted my hair down yesterday and I’m keeping it like that for the next week or two!
Girl I'm a full time student and work full time. My hair SUFFERS during the semester. I am determined to make time this year!
Thank you Naturally Philo! These tips are great and your hair looks awesome!
You're welcome beautiful 😊Thanks for watching
y’all her voice is so soothing 🥺 this helped a lot
This is exactly what I’m doing!!! I have been natural my entire life (believe it or not) but I never EVER knew how to properly take care of my hair and it was always sooo dry and damaged, and every time I got to shoulder/collarbone length it would be so broken that I had to cut it off. I decided that being at home with nowhere to go and no one to see, I should finally take the time to learn how to take care of my hair and stop from styling it every day!!! I suggest all struggling naturals do the same !!
I’m a heat trained natural and I love it... at first I was totally against all heat and chemicals etc. but since I dyed my hair and started my silk treatment routine my hair HAS NEVER EVER felt or looked so lush and healthy as it does now
I decided to twist my hair a week ago. I normally do wash and goes, but since I have no where to go I decided to twist it up and leave it alone. Gonna go two weeks at a time. I’ve been using the Shadavi oil to massage and stimulate my scalp, it always feels so good especially in the back where I tend to inch from time to time around the edges, but it puts the fire out so to speak. No more itching. My hair feels more moisturized and soft and it’s been a week. So this may be a thing now. 🙂 I purchased the AllNatural moisturizer today and after seeing Curly Guy and EvaniWithaV I am intrigued.
Another tip is that stretched hair allows for your hairs natural oils to travel down the length of your hair easier bc it has less curls to get through so stretched of blown out hair will stay moisturized for longer. I think I picked that up from a naptural85 video
Yes. I did a protein treatment Thursday and braided my hair in a protective style. Bantu knots.
Ayyyyeeee what’s up with you Philo! I definitely agree this quarantine is a blessing because we don’t have to go out therefore we can stay home to grow our hair! 😃😃😍😍 now let me watch this video while I Oil my scalp and massage my head top! Love you Philo and hope you’re doing well❤️❤️❤️
Ooooofffttttt I didn’t mention omg I love your hair😍😍😍😍😍
First video and I’m in love already. New subscriber here. Took out my protective style and washed on Saturday. I was thinking the same thing, now is the best time to give my hair a little bit of tender loving care. Will be going back to protective style in about a week. Will start my massages from tonight. Thank you. I like your personality, you’re really funny 😊
Connie 1751 Thank you so much! Welcome to my channel 💕
I've grown my hair back after a tapered cut by washing my hair and doing mini twists. At first they were super short on the tapered sides and I would unloose them during the day to have curly sides but then my hair started to have hang time again. Ever since then, I've been doing mini twist in its shrunken state and leaving them in for 2-3 weeks at a time. Now my tapered sides and back of my head are almost the same length as the front of my hair again. If you continue to do mini twist and leave them in for an extended period of time, you will see growth. I used either cantu or aunt Jackie's curl cream with coconut oil to set my hair.
I have been moisturizing and decided to protective style during this time so that I am not touching and playing in it.
Yup! Today is wash day, might as well right?!
Plus I'm trying to keep busy as I wait for my KINFOLK hoodie to come to me!
I saw the ad for it, I was like ik her!!!😍😍👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Aawww thanks my love!
I was doing a six month protective style challenge and it ended this month but now I guess I'm gonna do one year protective styling🤷🏿♀️
Did you retain length?
Eva Maf yes! My hair grew about 4 inches
Fatoumata what styles did you do?
Anielyse Daniel mini braids and a lot of different cornrow styles ( without any added weave). When I'd go outside I would wear head wraps but now I'm gonna start doing a mini / medium twist (I kept each style in for 1 to 2 months but wash my hair every week and moisturized every other day)
I am totally on the same page regarding low manipulation twist. My go to is finger coils, once I do them...the last until wash day. All I do is coat my hands with my favorite leave in & my liquid is my aloe vera concoction. Rub it gently over my coils to wake them up & they are beautiful until I wash. Though my coils could last for weeks, my scalp needs cleansing weekly. All the best to everyone during this trying time. Blessings 🙏❣️☮️💐
I’m definitely going to try to make an effort to massage my scalp with oil before bed. I always neglect doing this. I wish I had someone to massage it for it, I’d knock right out. 😴🤤
The Shrinkage is INSANE🤯 Your is so beautiful💯❤️✨When you started dancing to shake the room I was dancing with you😭😂

mia alexander Yasss thank you 😘
How long should you massage for typically?
Titi A 3-5mins
I recently big chopped my hair and girl this video is helpfullll!!! We’re in the house all the time that it’s the BEST time for our hair, skin, everything!
My hair is starting to dry out my moisture lasted a week.... today is actually my wash day, but if we don't get to a truck stop tonight I'll have to wait till tomorrow. I just started doing the inversion method yesterday 😏... I know kin folk, lol I'm late on that tea! But I'm going to do that 7 days per month to help me get past my growth plataue. I'm nervous about washing my hair in twists, but, I will give it a try!
Washing in twists is sooooo helpful. Just be careful when you're taking them down and detangling
YASSSS sis!!! I'm already doing these things. Tryna grow waist length if you know what I mean. And that's on period. And, btw I love your channel. I love the energy that you bring. I usually don't watch natural hair youtubers with looser curled hair than mine, but I love your channel. I can't not watch it. That's on periodt. Keep it up!
I’m weak 😂😂😂 “wash and stay home”
I follow these steps religiously because I want my hair to grow as long as possible. Great video girl as always.
Okay Kinfolk. I'm taking notes😳
honestly you can do no wrong. i big chopped december 2018 and i’ve been actively trying to grow my hair since and i love love love watching your videos, so funny and inspirational and encouraging, love itttt!!!!!

me : nope 😊
The intro alone had me hooked😂😂
Damnit! That should’ve been my Instagram caption “wash n stay home” lol
this intro was so original and hilarious! i needed this video though sis!!
“Wash & stay” 😂
Genetics also play also play a part in how your hair grows.
Obaayaa Boakye mostly taking care of your hair n trimming has more to do with that part
Idk why but twists be tangling tf out of my hair, I do mini single braids cause idk why tf my hair be so tangled after twists. Maybe it’s cause I don’t stretch it.
My daughter has 3c hair and some of her ends always tangle while in twists and have to be trimmed off. Also, her softest hair (at the middle rear of her head) which may be 3b tangles all the way up the braid because she is constantly moving around. Luckily that hair actually has thicker strands so it doesn't break and untangles more easily than the rest.
Very informative, thanks for sharing. But I don’t do twists because my hair starts to unravel within 2 weeks and they look terrible. My hair is done in mini braids and I’m planning on keeping my hair this way for a couple of months. I plan on continuing with my scalp messages also. Thanks again and continue to stay safe.
Sis just slapped alll of us with factssss, the lazinessss is realll😭
I've been doing this everyday for about 3 weeks now. I decided to stop being lazy and take advantage of this time and love on my hair. Every morning I'm amazed at the shine and moisture. No more neglect! AND definitely a satin or silk pillow case is needed :-)
Oh why are you talking to me🤦🏿♀️ get up and go wash your hair 🏃🏽♀️🤸🏾♀️
... your joking right?
“I have time for that one”. Love it!
I've been waiting for this videoooooooo..
But it's hard with 4c high porosity hair
Itz. lamu What’s hard about it? Styling? Retaining Length? Moisture? Cleansing? I have 4C high porosity and TBH, I don’t think porosity necessarily matters. I just leave it alone, moisture and wash/deep condition...It grows fine. Also Make sure you get your Trims.
@@abbb8238High porosity breaks easily ... and that's a length retention problem... and moisture is a large problem... Finding products is also hard in my country
Itz. lamu i have high porosity hair as well but mine is mixed textured. I’ve been taking care of my hair for a little over a year now and it hasn’t been breaking off, not even before this so just try to be super super gentle. You can try lines for dry and brittle hair like Function of Beauty (you can create your own shampoo and conditioner, leave in, hair mask, etc. you can also choose your hair type, coily is included, and your hair structure! it’s cruelty free and vegan!) or the Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla line (this is what i started using when i first started taking care of my hair and worked good for me but feel free to watch reviews and demonstrations!). Recently i’ve been using Alikay Naturals and i love the honey and sage dc. But still my hair has a problem with retaining moisture and that’s just because it’s high porosity 🤷🏽♀️ so it’ll always be dry even after we moisturize it. We just have to keep moisturizing. I’m switching back to grease as well to see if that helps any :) you can also try rice water and see if that works for you! feel free to look at people with the same hair and porosity as you. It works great for my hair but then again i don’t have 4c. My hair consists of 2c-4a or 2c-4b. Another thing you can do is spritz your hair with water when it gets dry, but try not to touch it since it’s brittle. I’m gonna try to up my deep conditioning twice a week also, so try doing this once a week and see how it works for you. Hope this helped you lovie! If you have any questions, feel free to ask! if not, E mālama pono! ❤️✨Take good care!
@@kirieuzumaki7535 Thank you so much for going out of your way for this ... and I'll try the products you mentioned... I live in central Africa and these are hard to find... even when I do they're so expensive... I also switched to grease... but I'll follow your advice.. thanks again❤️
Itz. lamu no worries! someone helped me so i only want to pass it on :) NaturalReign has high porosity hair but she’s 4a/4b, still you should give her a watch! And you’re very welcome ✨
I started twisting my hair this past week. I'd been neglecting it for the past few weeks. Twists made a big difference!
The way she caught herself and said wash n stay home has me DECEASED
0:29 let me get into this. I just found you girl. You're my favorite 4C girlie!
Already doing these things started may 2019 hair has grown from ear length to finally past collarbone length, everything u said as well as exercising, I walk 4 miles every day and water water water oh and my daily vitamins.
Mariah outnumbered! Please, how long do you keep your protective style in for? And do you wash often? Which vitamins do you take? And do they cause breakouts for you? Sorry for the many questions... GOD bless you.
@@phela2598 I keep my protective style in for 3 weeks to a month, I wash my hair as need cause I work out and sweat I deep condition with my twist in and rinse throughly, vitamins are vitamin C or emergen -c, prenatal and iron msm and collagen, biotin LIQUID which has given me one pimple and I believe that's due to not drinking enough water that week as well as PMS. Other than that one pimple no break outs.
