EDIT: When I’m honest, yah have a problem but yah continue to ask for honest reviews, so which is it Sis? Natural85 is an OG here on RUclips and I respect her dearly, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to say how I truly feel about her new product. It wasn’t the best I’ve tried and if you loved it, that’s you, not me. I love making fun informative reviews, but some of yah in the comments acting like I pride myself on making negative reviews and that’s not true! If a product works, I have no problem saying it does. Please respect my content or click off, thanks. What's up #KINFolk 😍Happy Sunday! I hope you enjoy this collab with CurlyGuy! We had a great time making it for you 💕
You said it was moisturizing but that for you it wasn’t good for a pre poo for ya’ll hair. You did not say anything wrong. She got great reviews for type 4 hair. But it was just okay for you. Nothing wrong with that.
I really appreciate this video and your honest opinions. I feel like its difficult to come out here and say this product isn't "all that," especially knowing that our Queen Whitney (Naptural85) worked so hard on it. But its honest reviews like these that are really gonna help. The slip factor definitely needs some work. That being said, I am still so proud of Whitney and glad I bought this product. It works well with her BOMB curl creme and oil, plus when I use these products I don't feel like I need to spend a million years trying to wash out product build-up on wash day. I still encourage others to go out there and support it, even if its not Philo-approved. 💕
true. I am proud of her hair care line as well. As naturalistas we have to be aware that not all products work with our hair. and that's okay. just support eachother and love all!
@@Sexycocoa1982 She said others need to go out there and support it. So essentially she's saying it doesn't work for her but that others should go and try it. Which makes no sense because she also said it damaged her hair.... Recommending something to others when it damaged your hair doesn't really make sense. What makes more sense is to be truthful about the product, but also not give false praise lol.
I'm so glad you were honest. I think some of these RUclipsrs just following each other. If one says it's good then all on board. They scared of the repercussions or backlash. So again thanks for your honesty.
Just tried the product after 1 week and I will say, you’ll notice how moisturized your hair is after some time. When I took my week long twists out, my hair was ah-mazinggg ✨ in my opinion, it’s good for moisture, softening and repair. I’m going to pair it with another product to give my hair hold (which it doesn’t have).
Iamdanaqu I’ve only tried the leave-in conditioner. From my experience, it didn’t have much hold but that’s not it’s purpose anyway lol I’m sure her styling cream has a ton of hold
Thank you for this review. Naptural’s vids taught me how to work with my natural hair when I was first transitioning a few years ago so I JUMPED to purchase her line when it dropped. I was one of the firsts to receive it with my lollipop. Her products definitely make my hair feel soft once it’s dry, but the overall results are nothing exciting. I wanted to love it so much. A year later, I still hadn’t used much of it b/c it’s just not my favorite. I figured I was just doing something wrong. So when the leave-in came out, I thought, “this is what I’m missing!”. I tried a wash n go, but I just didn’t get notable results. FRUSTRATED. I tried again, saturated my hair in water and aloe juice, used more product than before. Had no real luck with detangling either, (As I Am’s Coco-cowash is much better for me). Wash n go was okay while drying, but doesn’t really dry nicely. I’m gonna keep trying tho. There’s nothing better than honest consumer feedback for a business. Good or bad, it helps businesses grow. Lying about feedback to save people’s feelings doesn’t do our dear Whitney any favors. Honest feedback is a form of support for her budding business. I’ll keep supporting her in one way or another.
Exactly. My 4c hair hates these products. The leave in nor styling creme do anything for my hair. And for some reason the oil makes my hair feel stiff like hay. I want to cry cuz I was hoping this would be my holy grail 😭
Stephanie Spencer I’d this same issue, I was so excited to support Whit and bought all her products and now only the twist-elongating style cream I’m able to use. As I now realize hydrolyzed protein and wheat amino doesn’t yield good results for my hair. Also, along with the glycerin in the oil blend it did leave my hair dry and stiff. I’ll definitely be supporting her again when she’s protein-free products. As she’s one of my fave and I want her business to flourish. I appreciate Philo’s review as honest feedback helps us all.
I feel like this leave in was designed to work best with her other product. I have 3a/3b hair, and like guy said it feels wet on the hair but not moisturize. Detangling is not the best and it has zero slip, the product disappears and you end up using more, but once I use her hair oil and styling cream, my hair stays moisturized and defined for days. My conclusion is that she made the "leave in" light for those whose hair is easily weighed down, but also multi useful for those who were complaining about dryness in her first line. If you have dry, low porosity, tangley hair, and looking for a one and done product, this may not be for you unless you have big bucks to spend on her entire hair care line.
I have low porosity hair and all of the melanin products. Used it together and was disappointed with the final results. For me the melanin multi use left my hair feeling really dry and knotted.
Agreed and same for me also. I really wanted to love this leave in. My hair also didnt love the cream. It's def wet and not moisturizing enough for me. But I love that the ingredients are safe for my hair
I use her products and L❤️ve them! I am overwhelmed by my results. I use it as a leave in, deep conditioner and I use the twisting cream as my styler . I love it💕💕❣️
That's why we have a whole product market. Everything isn't going to work for everyone. I have bought numerous products and my hair didn't love them. I don't drag the product I just say my hair didn't love it. Some of the best things that work for me I have to make in my kitchen or buy from Toronto. 🤷♀️
If I was to used the melanin as a prepoo treatment, I would definitely have to add melted coconut and olive oil for slip because I like to finger detangle when I prepoo and my type 4 hair will go "snap, crackle, pop" looking at how it behaved for Curly Guy
I've been buying Whit's line since it dropped - it works extremely well for my hair honestly. I used camille rose before I switched completely, but camilles prices for the quantity are a bit much. I'm 4a/4b and the melanin leave in works the best out of the whole line for me (Ive purchased about 5 bottles now? Currently on #3); my hair isn't super thick so it's just enough to give me a light fluffy twist out without feeling weighed down; even braided my hair feels moisturized. I also use it as an in shower conditioner, super easy to finger detangle but hey that's just my experience (I also love the refreshing spearmint scent and not some funky berry vanilla etc fragrance). I use the butter less often though because too much of it makes my hair heavy and I also find that I have to use a little bit of oil after it but it's still very moisturizing. Curlmix looks like they have an interesting flax gel but $26 for 8oz? I spend $9 for lily of the desert aloe vera gelly instead
Thank you both for your honest reviews. The leave in has worked for me as a detangler and as a leave-in. I have low porosity type 4c hair but I also have fine strands. All products don't work for everyone. So we need constructive and honest reviews. Love the video.
I think its interesting too cause it works for me and I also have low porosity 4c hair but my hair is thick. If I don't use water and steam to open up my hair pores it just sits on top but if the purses are open it sucks it all up and works wonders for me. The cream tho only works if I use less than a dime size per section or it just sits on top
Great video guys. I feel that it doesn't have as much slip because she used hair healthy ingredients. I can't wait to buy it. I plan to use it as a leave in conditioner
I really enjoyed this video and the energy between you two! I tried this Multi-Use conditioner after I had applied permanent color to my hair twice in 3 weeks (a no-no) and my hair looked and felt like hay. The conditioner completely detangled my hair and left it feeling soft. I colored my hair twice more (finally got the look I wanted) and used the product as a leave-in, deep conditioner, and mixed into the last application of the permanent color. My hair looks and feels great. I do believe that it helped my hair through those harsh processes. I should also note that I am very heavy-handed with conditioner. Anyway, I like when Black RUclipsrs get along and I hope to see you guys do another video again soon!
You both are hilarious!!! I loved this collab! As far as the Melanin leave in, I love it. I use it on 5 of my kid's hair. Their curl type is from loose to tight curls and all the curls love it!! Lol
Your review is appreciated! We are mature enough to realize that everybody is not going to like her products! I personally love the Melanin Haircare line and since I’m low porosity I use hot water on my hair as well.
I'm not surprised by the outcome b/c N85 had a looser curl pattern and when she uses it her hair look bomb, but for 4C dolls and guys just don't get the same results
This is my FAAAAAAAAORITE product and I have been natural for 28 years now. The B.E.S.T!!! I enjoyed watching your review as always!!! You rock! Both of you!!!
Love my Curly Guy been following his channel for awhile. Y'all hair is beautiful keep up the good work. My sister use Melanin and she absolutely loves it.
My 2 favourite youtubers dualing and I luv it❤❤! Thank y'all 4 being honest and constructive with your opinions on the Melanin leave in.😊👍 This review was madd cool and funny to watch! 😀
I used this as a pre poo and my results were bomb. Not a fan of the scent but I got passed that. The oil blend with it gave my hair incredible slip. The water gives it even more slip once you add more. Like you said. It wasn’t good for your hair. Everyone hair is different so I’m not understanding why anyone would think this was a negative review. Thanks for your honesty. I loved it.
Glad you noted the bit about hair being washed while standing up vs having your head bent over a tub or sink. It definitely makes a difference with my hair.
Love y'all together, fun, fun , fun. Used the product as a leave-in and moisturizer on my 4b, 4c hair. Been quarantining for almost 2 weeks now and my hair's been in twists since. Untwisted and retwisted after 1st week and remoisturized with only The Melanin. My hair feels great! Soft, hydrated. Think the scent is like Colgate toothpaste--odd but it's ok. You get a generous amount for the price. Can't remember how much shipping was but I remember thinking it was a lot. Overall, I'll buy it again. Would rather give my money to a new and qualified entrepreneur than not.
I feel the same way, it felt wet. I didn’t like it but I spent my coin so I only use it as a prepoo but as a leave in, it felt dry and I didn’t like the mint smell. That was fun guys. I loved Whitney’s cream and oil (works better together). The leave in, not for me. I’ve used Curl Mix and yes the moisturizer is bomb.
I appreciated the honest review. It’s true what works for some doesn’t work for all. I prefer reading reviews, but ultimately you have to try it yourself to know if it works for you. I’ve been interested in trying her products. I only want to try the multi-oil and Twist elongated style cream. I’m going to see how it works for my hair. 😊
Great video Naturallyphilo and curly guy! Thanks for talks honest opinion. Naturallyphilo that’s how people are they want honest reviews but as soon as your honest and with all do respect to Whitney but if you like a product you like it if you don’t you don’t simple as that it’s called HONESTY AND I THANK YALL AGAIN FOR TOU GREAT VIDEO AND HONEST OPINIONS PERIODDDD 😘😘
Appreciate the honest review on what works for you you guys hair. People need to respect others opinion. *Furthermore, to make better informed choices since no two head of hair is alike, we need to stop making informed choices based on what work on someone else's hair and get to know our own hair after using a particular product.*
I liked it the more I use the more I like it, it pairs well with the oil and cream . The smell does linger for me, our hair is soft and it detangles alright. I wasn’t impressed right off the bat because I had month old blow dried hair so it needed more than once. Also as layering goes it gets better everyday
Really appreciated this review. I follow Curly Guy already, now I’m a new subscriber of yours. Appreciate your honesty. For me the Melanin products are the bomb! The leave in is the best product I’ve found for my hair type so far. But I definitely appreciated your opinion and review. You guys are good together!
Lol at him being shocked with still running into tangles. 3C/4A hair’s first and middle names are tangle and frizz. I struggle with this too because my hair is super curly and they don’t want to separate, but it has to get detangled.
Thanks for the review. My hair is more of a 4b type. But I have like probably 4a in the front. And it didn’t absorb that well. It doesn’t melt in my hair. But I did look how it had my hair soft the next day I added her oil and her oil is so nice with my hair. I really wanted to love her butter for twisting and the conditioner but I love the oil.
I actually like the leave-in and I have type 4, high porosity hair. The elongating cream is good and the oil is surprisingly light but effective. I definitely think there are a lot of product junkies - myself included where we know what’s good for our hair. The melanin line is ok. For me it a step up above how soultanicals and curlz products work in my hair but it’s not touching Camille rose, mielle, Jane Carter, and Alikay naturals- there are other lines I’ve had more success with bit I’d be typing all day to fit them all in. The line was definitely overhyped but no where near how the mane choice is always overhyped and it barely works in my hair.
John JohnRN86 I so agree with your comment I really enjoyed the melanin leave in I have type 4a/4b hair I do love mielle organics a lot Soultanics didn’t do anything for my hair to me that was the most overhype product line for me I mean it was just ok .. I think products depend on application technique and your hair strands.
I like the multi use leave in as a leave in conditioner and moisturizer but I think it's too thin as a conditioner/ pre poo/ or detangler. The emerge leave in at Target actually works a little better for me. The elongating twist cream is my go-to though. Love this collab! Y'all are funny and entertaining while be informative.
I am a 4C natural and have used a mix of the Melanin products on my hair . I mistakenly attributed some fabulous results I had to the leave in and when I separated everything out realized it was the elongator that was the everything. Also, the hair oil. The Melanin oil is the truth. I am not mad at the leave in but, I can't use it as a stand alone leave in, for it to really make a difference I have to use it with other products; it marrys well with the Camille Rose Honey leave in; for me. Also, y'all are 100% right. The leave in works better on a 3C or 3B. I use it on my niece who is a 3B/3C and her hair takes to it like a duck takes to water. Overall, I'm not mad at Melanin. The products are good. Some are better than others, for me) but, some are magic and I love supporting a Black owned business. Thanks for doing this review.
My hair loves this product...as a leave in and for a second detangle with my Felicia Leatherwood brush. Stays moisturized, but no product I’ve ever tried has lasted longer than a day or so. I have 3c/4a fine high porosity hair. I’ve used it with the twist cream (sparingly) with it and it’s been alright. I don’t typically use gels and all that, because it’s too much for my hair. As a moisturizer it’s good, as a leave in, it works for me.
Thank you, thank you for giving an HONEST review!!👏🏾 I also purchased this leave-in about 2 months ago. It was a NO for my 4b/4c hair. I ended up giving it away. I am able to detangle more easily using other leave-ins (Kinky Curly Knot Today & Curls Blueberry Bliss), these leave-ins have waaaay more slip for my hair.
So what I did when I got the bottle down to where it was when you used it ...I added Olive oil and Aloe gel juice to it which turned it a pretty purple and gave it slip and my hair loved it. I still have my bottle and I got it back in March.
I def love your honest reviews! I think if more people were honest about products we wouldn’t try it thinking we are CRAZY if we didn’t get the same results. I feel like it’s def best for everyone to watch multiple reviews because everyone has different opinions based on THEIR hair. I wasn’t going to purchase this (didn’t really seem like a must have for ME) but I came cuz I just love your videos and energy
Noo. I didn’t really have any high inspections for this product. I don’t really trust products that can do multiple things. I will give it a try one day, but only as a leave in. I like her styling cream.
Omg I love you two, y'all are so fun! I gotta try that curlmix, my hair loves avocado. PS what's that bottle you're using to mist the water? Maybe I'm out of the loop but I've been wanting a mist bottle that actually mists out water instead of just spraying it and have never seen one... Plus it looks so sleek lol

RuthJourney93 in the beginning they state their textures
This is my FAAAAAAAAORITE product and I have been natural for 28 years now. The B.E.S.T!!! I enjoyed watching your review as always!!! You rock! Both of you!!!
I appreciate the honest review. Everything is not for everyone or every hair type.
Entertaining AND helpful! 😁 Your satin-lined hoodies look fire! 💥🔥
While giving us your honesty. I would like to see you compare the full line together. How does it stand when its all together?
I used this as a pre poo and my results were bomb. Not a fan of the scent but I got passed that. The oil blend with it gave my hair incredible slip. The water gives it even more slip once you add more. Like you said. It wasn’t good for your hair. Everyone hair is different so I’m not understanding why anyone would think this was a negative review. Thanks for your honesty. I loved it.
I really appreciate you all honest review. Also, I love you two together. You gave me something to smile and laugh about with y'all personalities.
Glad you noted the bit about hair being washed while standing up vs having your head bent over a tub or sink. It definitely makes a difference with my hair.
I tried all 5 ways as a DC did not do much. As a leave in it dried my hair out but as a rinse out detangler I was satisfied.
I wanna try this product just to see if my hair will like it 🤔🥰 love the honesty and energy from y’all’s hairs perspective
This collab was everythingggg. And I agree, love Whitney, but it ain’t all that.
It's so refreshing to see a guy on these videos! This was a really detailed review. Much appreciated!
D S same issue I had. I prepooed went on nice, the next day my hair was so hard..
When the collab includes NaturallyPhilo, it's ALWAYS FIRE!!!
I didn't know I NEEDED to see yall together but I guess I do. More videos together pleaseeeee! 😍
I’m so glad y’all did a video together! I love both of y’all.
I liked it the more I use the more I like it, it pairs well with the oil and cream . The smell does linger for me, our hair is soft and it detangles alright. I wasn’t impressed right off the bat because I had month old blow dried hair so it needed more than once. Also as layering goes it gets better everyday
I had NO idea how much I NEEDED THIS
In my opinion this line works well for my type 4B HAIR. I also apply all products under water while in the shower. That makes a difference too.
I feel like the softness he felt in his hair from all the shampoo. That Naturall range is so good!
Umhmm...I really thought I was watching a television show with all that energy!! You two are a dynamic duo!!💣💥💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great video y'all. So much fun watching y'all. And yes I agree people differently hype that leave in up. ❤❤
CurlyGuy got a new subscribeeeer ! I just need his video quality to be this good
Not to mention I LOVE his energy, can we be friends ???
its coming i just purchased some new equipment
@@CurlyGuy YAAAASS come through with the video backdrop and lighting, I'm ready for it !
Why have I been waiting for this collab 😭😭
Edit: when you used melanin it looked kind of more frizzy and less defined than curl mix
Yeah I agree, CurlyGuy pointed that out too
Really appreciated this review. I follow Curly Guy already, now I’m a new subscriber of yours. Appreciate your honesty. For me the Melanin products are the bomb! The leave in is the best product I’ve found for my hair type so far. But I definitely appreciated your opinion and review. You guys are good together!
Thanks for the review. I love this combo! You guys are it!! Encore. ❤
*like*
I actually like the leave-in and I have type 4, high porosity hair.
I love your energy together!!!
Your honesty is everything!
You guys have great chemistry and look like friends in real life
OMG LOVE THAT AFRO T-SHIRT!!!!!! Where can I get one?!
Thanks for doing this review.
ok. you both need to collab MORE! 😆💪🏾🤣😆
I agree with you 👌👌👌
Im low porosity but I’ve been riding with you for so long I see no reason to leave! Go ahead twist god y’all make a good team!!👊🏽💓
You 2 cracked me up, thanks for the great video and honest opinion
He has got to be a Gemini too cuz this energyyyyyy😩👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Y'all Definitely need to do more videos!!!! I truly enjoyed y'all!!! Thank you for giving a real honest review 🥰🥰
I looked up curlmix and damn near had a heart attack. I.am.poe 😂😂😂😂
Lol! I heard you got that bag 😎
So what I did when I got the bottle down to where it was when you used it ...I added Olive oil and Aloe gel juice to it which turned it a pretty purple and gave it slip and my hair loved it. I still have my bottle and I got it back in March.
I love the collaboration 😍😍😍
Thank you 😘
I like your honesty not every product is gonna work for you. Everybody hair is different. I enjoyed the video.
Thanks to you and Curly Guy for this honest review!
We love a good collab with some legit honesty! Heyyy fellow kinfolks 🥰
Thank you for an honest review. Like for me it was ok but it really wasn’t all that
Yall have a beautiful energy together ! loved this video
