2:30 Worcestershire sauce is fermented fish, onion and I think garlic (all of them are fermented for about two years in vats) with herbs and spices, it was make my two chemists after a military commander came back from serving abroad (somewhere in the Area of India I believe but could be wrong it’s been a while since I learned this stuff) and he wanted this fish sauce he had gotten used to over there, so he asked the chemists to recreate it for him and it tasted discussing, I don’t know why they ended up keeping it after it been such a failure but they did and after sitting is a sealed wood barrel in their dark seller for about two years it has turned into ruffle the stuff we know today as Worcester sauce.

No celery salt? Missing a key ingredient man. I was never big on Bloodys but I always wanted to be able to drink the next morning with the cool kids, so I set out to find the best. When I found it (a little bar in central Wisconsin) I got the recipe from the bartender and have been making them that way ever since. The vodka doesn't matter too much, it is all close to 60% Ethanol and 40% water. Gin is the same except it is flavored, usually with juniper berries and custom botanicals by brand. I like the top shelf brands, but usually, buy Smirnoff not because it's Russian, better, or cheaper, but because it's local. That's right folks, Smirnoff vodka is made in Plainfield Illinois.

I'm not here to steal any of Greg's thunder, but if you must know, their recipe is: over a glass of ice pour 2 oz vodka of choice followed by 4 shakes Lea and Perrins Worchester, 4 heavy shakes McCormick celery salt, 3 shakes Tabasco, 1 oz dill pickle juice, topped with 1 5.5 oz can premium Sacremento tomato juice, pour back and forth 3 times glass to glass, then 3 additional shakes of celery salt to top, garnish with 1 celery rib, 1 dill pickle, and 2 jumbo queen Green olives on a toothpick, and a 6 oz glass of cheap tap beer for a chaser, usually Miller Lite. Adjustments can be made, but this is ground zero for the quintessential Bloody Mary.

  • @intoxicary

Something I like about bloody marys is that there's no wrong way to do them. There's no set recipe from bar to bar or bartender to bartender, and it gives the bartender some space to get creative. That said, there are definitely good and bad bloody marys. If you're one of those bartenders that thinks a bloody is vodka, tomato juice and light beer, your bloody mary game sucks. My favorite base for a bloody is half gin(something botanical) and half pepper vodka(absolut does a pretty decent one). I also have plenty other quirks to how I make mine and I've had several regulars over the years that specifically ask for my bloodys.
Btw, you're a mad man for putting that much tabasco in there. But as you said, tabasco to taste. I guess your taste is just insane. = )

I've had a bacon bloody Mary, where the vodka was apparently "bacon"flavored vodka. Pretty sure they just added a few drops of liquid smoke and threw a piece of bacon in it. I didn't complain, it was good.

If you’re a fan of the Bloody Mary you should look into the Canadian version which is called a Caesar. It has its own day up here and has a bunch of commercially available versions. Often served with a stick of bacon in it.

Worcestershire sauce. I'm from England, and to help with your pronunciation, it's wuster-shire. Horse-radish is how you spell it. Also, for veggies out there, wuster-shire has anchovies in it, but you can get vegan versions of it pretty easily! It also goes well poured into your regular stir frys and baked potatoes!

Worcestershire Is pronounced like the Mass city Worcester(Ignore the "rce" sounds like "Woster". The "o" sounds like "o" in "love") and "shire" is like the same in "New Hampshire", like the word "sure".
