That’s sad about the cows (baby probably has it too). Johnes is caused by bacterial infection of a tuberculosis strain (paratuberculosis bovine). Something you should look into if you want to try and save her so she can live to 20+yrs is Paul stamets medical mushrooms (video), but he has a patent on a blend of mycelium (what mushrooms fruit from) that heals various bacterial/viral infections including regular TB, main one is Turkey tail and possibly agarakon (you can look up the google patents to copy the blend). Maybe dose it for the weight of the cow for a few months then retest her viral loads. Supposedly the infection rates increased from mass scale cow farms , not sure if it is related to inaccess of enough or the correct good strains of mycelium when they grassfeed on healthy soil (healthy mycelium rich soil helps get rid of e. Coli, helps plants grow better and fight of diseases, helps prevent bee colony collapse, etc). Anyways, worth a good investigation and try, just make sure u buy it from a non china source and that it’s been heated before turned into powder so the nutrients can be absorbed. Host defense is a great brand by stamets. They also sell diff types of mycelium to inoculate you’re plants/ground to increase soil health.. which is awesome if paired with permaculture techniques).
    Other random related info:
You won’t know if the calf got it til she’s 2-5yrs and has a high enough antibody count.
There’s a study showing drinking infected cow milk can cause type 1 diabetes (if I remember right in kids)
My dad got MRSA and the drs could no longer help him (it spread everywhere including back of his head , etc they said most likely will die from it). I found internally ; olive leaf extract, wild oregano oil, colliodal/Nano silver, pycnogenol, red cloverhelped and externally on the wounds a poultice of manuka honey, colliodal silver helped within weeks. Every few years it comes back if his immune system gets run down and he’ll do the external poultice and it’s mostly healed in a couple days. He’s quite stubborn to taking pills, liquid supplements so not sure if he stuck to the regimen longterm 6mo-1yr if it could possibly heal it completely so it never comes back but it’s never come back bad, drs say he’ll always have it. This was before I learned about mycelium benefits. But maybe look into some of those and if a cow can eat it.. I know they can have the red clover cuz it and white clover are a fav for deers, etc .. but no idea if the other stuff could benefit a cow 🐮. I don’t think all herbs/supplements are great or even work but I’ve seen success first hand against supposed bacteria that has “no solution or cure” once the strongest rx antibiotics don’t work so I believe it’s always worth researching and potentially a try. Oh and I had a friend end up in trials after thet saw her hiv antibodies lower from trying resveratrol , not sure if that’s ok for a cow to try.
    Best wishes

That was a close call and luckily the situation easily improved. It just shows how vigilant and observant a farmer always has to be. Glad everything turned out well.

My understanding was that once you have Jhonnes disease on your pasture, it never leaves. Chickens can not be sanitized, etc. Might want to keep contained in a smaller spot until you get rid of so it doesn't spread on the farm. Beautiful farm!!!

Not sure if it's mad cow disease you're talking about or not . If it is don't ever eat for sure as you know . Safer to eat one under two years old anyway . Nice farm . God Bless !!!
