Serbu RN-50 review and first shots!

- A quick review and the first shots with my new .50 BMG. It has a SWFA 16x scope with Burris rings. I'm shooting American Eagle (Federal) 660 grain ammo at only 20 yards to get a feel for the power of this rifle.

You won't be disappointed! I ordered mine from Serbu through a FFL dealer. They had it built and delivered in less than 3 weeks.
@@GhostRiderUSA Thanks! I was wondering about the more recent wait times. A recent order indicated it would be about three months, but this is the 36" barrel, and I don't know if this is the busy season.

I think I’m going to order one. Would you still recommend this rifle? And negatives?
For a basic .50 I think it's a great rifle. The accuracy seems good but I've only shot it on my 60 yard range so far (long range planned for this summer). No negatives that I can think of. Mark Serbu is a patriotic American and I was happy to support him.
FATAL Design Flaws:
1) Barrel Cap only has about 4 to 5 threads engaged, LESS than what it looks like because of the counterbore in Cap. Threads were WEAK to begin with, even fully engaged (which they're not).
2) Two "Saftey" Tabs directly behind the cap are NOT sufficiently strong to retain Cap in place during an Overpressure event. Tabs sheared cleaning off in an Overpressure failure.
3) ALL that ENERGY and at least three pieces of SHRAPNEL (Cap + 2 Tabs) is DIRECTLY BACK INTO SHOOTER'S FACE/BODY.
Sure it's an "Inexpensive .50 bmg" until you factor in the Hospital, Surgeries, and Funeral Costs. then it's the MOST EXPENSIVE POS on the market... and yeah, Serbu put $$$$ before lives, and it's STILL on the market.

@@filster1934 ya, something exceeds its rating and fails, must be a pos right. I use the analogy, it’s like buying a crate motor, slapping a large turbo on it and acting surprised when it blows up.
How about shooting it further than 50 meters?
I'm working on that. My back yard range goes out to 100 yards. A friend has a 1000 yard range which I'll try in the spring. Stay frosty!
I'll get a barret. This gun just is to dangerous to me I whach Kentucky ballistics blow up. I know normal 50bmg rounds would and should be safe but unlike a barret you don't have the full cover protection that a barret has this gun you get all the shrapnel in your face if it explodes
That's great Ty! I'll be watching your channel for a video of your Barrett. A BFG-50A is another good choice if you don't like the RN-50.

Lmao the new comments after KB incident. Does it suck for Scott? Hell yes. Bunch of keyboard engineers acting like a catastrophic failure is fine in any other firearm. Bolt action 50BMG have failed and severely injured others but we don’t hear about those. I would like to see ( but it’ll never happen) a same failure in another rifle with even more in front of the shooter.

You are paying what you get, cheap .50 with deathly cap.
I did get what I paid for. An affordable 50 cal that is fun to shoot. Who died from the cap?

They did a good job making it even though they are a small manufacturer. Mark Serbu is a cool guy and I'm very happy with the rifle. Thanks for watching.
If you can't afford a real .50 like a Barrett, stick with your own caliber and don't buy a customized sewer pipe.
I'm glad I live in the USA and have the right to own and shoot anything I want. I saw that your channel is from the Netherlands. I heard they have strict gun laws and the government considers gun ownership a privilege. Hit me up if you are ever in the US.
