Indeed, im an RPer myself and ofcourse doing content + a fuck ton of mog and mount farming, im quite the busy guy in WoW, overall community in RP servers are better due to its a socialised server, ofcourse if you go to the stereo typical place you hear of in RP server, lolshire, Thotshire it got manny names, sadly due to all these things RPers instantly get laughed at because goldshire is the first thing people think about when seeing someone from that server.

I dislike BFA. There is something about it I just can't stand. At the same time, I love the overall game too much to call it quits. Therefore, recently I've been leveling an Alliance-character (always mained Horde). I haven't used any heirlooms or dungeon finders. I've just been leveling through some old zones I remember and some that I've never done a quest in. It has been truly rejuvinating. Just reading every quest-dialog, understanding the motivation behind every quest, and just experiencing the zones instead of rushing through them. It has made me appreciate the game so much more to the point where BFA doesn't really bother me anymore. Highly recommend doing this if you want some nostalgia mixed in with new things you've never seen before.

I'm sort of doing this myself. I skipped Legion, so I have been leveling a Demon Hunter for the opposing faction, while slowing bringing up all of my alts. I've never been this into leveling up all of my alts before. I just started a brand new hunter but have him decked out in heirlooms. I might do what you did and reroll my druid or pally and not use any heirlooms just to see what that's like again (maybe once I unlock an allied race?). I'm actually really looking forward to the Burning Crusade timewalker event, because I'm feeling nostalgic and want to run Steamvaults and Arcatraz "at level" again

You perfectly described how I feel about BFA. There's just so much that you HAVE to do at max level, that it's overwhelming and I'm not enjoying it. But I still love the game, as a whole. I do have a ton of low level alts that I've been meaning to play. I think I'll give your idea a try.

I did the same thing. A few months ago was the first time I returned to wow after a long period of not playing and started leveling through missions only, reading every one of them and I felt like as I rediscovered the game. I've learned so much about the lore just by doing that. I'm currently leveling an Alliance (and as you, I've always mained a Horde) and it's the best decision I've made.

That something is listed in this game... All these things on this list are the same as last expansion, their hasn't been enough innovation in the farming elements to make people excited. Azerite really made the grind more in your face and showed how broken the game is in its developer celebrate feature that has now been the bane of their customer interactions.
The game is not Legion 2.0... its more Legion 1.5 in many aspects and that's not good, people were already depressed at the end of Legion, BfA was suppose to rejuvinate players... not present the same thing back at them. It takes about 3 months for depression to hit a MMO player base... it hit BfA players in half that time and it makes pursuing most of the items on this list difficult for people to motivate themselves into.

    And yah thats it.
Nothing more to add to that really, just acknowledging them. Some people are still enjoying the game doing other stuff but that doesnt make those comments any less true! If your not having fun just play a different game. Thats pretty obvious I'd think.
BUT if you did want to get into some of the stuff on the list like RPing, pet battles, or Gold making I have a bunch of videos in the videos description that can help you get started.

I think allot of your subs are kids who need to keep their hate comments to themselves do they really think bringing up "oh the games dieing." Or telling people to unsubscribe... They are just repeating what hate mongers are saying and personally. It's annoying to see people repeat the same dumb comments... Animals that mimic people are more entertaining then constantly stumbling upon comments that are bland unoriginal statements from years in the past... Soo to the people who hate the game and feel like they need to comment it everytime a video comes out. Stop opening RUclips break your computer and go make something for yourself... If not shut up and find something that entertains you. Don't just go around throwing oh this is dumb just unsubscribe. Blah blah blah it's fucking annoying. Juat as annoying as asmondgold... Srsly. Either way I enjoy your videos! Always gives me an idea of something to do in the game.

What gabe fowler said, basically. Don't even mind most of those people, chances are they're mere trolls. Yh, well, not the WoW ones.
As for the game, to me it feels like there will always be something to do in it that you can enjoy... the only thing that matters is if you find those activities enough to keep you subscribed.
Personally, I think it's long lost its charm and it's just not that fun anymore overall (especially if you often end up playing alone -- like I usually do since I go afk every 20 min :s), because I'm also not a fan of all the grinding that means *nothing* after a while, but tbh I still find it more complete and awesome than any other video game I've seen/played and I keep coming back every 3-4 months mainly for collecting and playing around with transmog or b-pets, or even levelling a char a bit or farming some old mount I haven't got yet due to bad luck and taking some really long breaks ...to give ya an idea, the Brewfest ones and Ratstallion are the most recent mounts I farmed for (it was good fun to PvP in the sewers tho). But yh, generally, for a list of favorites, new or old. It's not enough to keep me playing tbh, but there's something above all that makes me return: The calmness in several areas of the game. Together with (in my case, mild) depression and nostalgia. It's not just that I miss old days though. This world still treats ppl who are truly sad about certain things like shit or like they have/are the problem, when in reality it's the world that has the worst probs and depression is more like the outcome of those problems. Point is, this world makes me mad and I need something to help me empty my mind from all the shit and feel peaceful again. WoW is great for that.
So, maybe instead of playing video games we should be doing something to change what's wrong in this world. Just playing WoW will never help with that I'm afraid. And I know most ppl who play this game care :) Well, hope so. Oh, it could help in a sense... if we'd unite somehow. I still have faith in ppl who play this game since I chat with many. This might sound a bit unfair/ungrateful but I've met more supportive ppl in-game or on the internet in general than in real life.
Anyhow. Before I get teary I'll just echo what others have basically said, only minus the sarcasm: We need to find something else to do, a purpose. Video games in general won't cut it imo but if that's what you like still, after all these years, and you're content with playing video games until you're 45, simply find another video game for a while, yes (it's not the same but what can you do?). And/or keep taking breaks until you feel like playing again. Or try to become a dev yourself. That way you could unite with others who feel the same and create the games of your dreams :p But don't whine about this game anymore. I used to put some effort into trying to make them see they've taken the wrong direction with some changes (and they even listened to me and others like me who, for example, were asking for a system like transmog or for melee hunters on the forums) but we don't own the game and not everyone wants the same from the game anyway. I kept mentioning we need more options btw. In the end, let them manage it the way they want to. Most of us need to move on anyway. The game won't go anywhere and it'll always have active players, just not enough to make it as great as it used to be. And maybe, just maybe, we could find something better to do with our time. Dunno.
That's all, I hope I won't be misunderstood. And apologies for the wall of text :p

Geeze, reading these comments of "unsub" "uninstall""quit the game" and others along that vein make wonder why they even watched a video titled "10 Alternative things to do in WoW" other than to just put their salty comments in.
I happen to think your list was great, and actually have been what I've been doing all expansion because health issues prevent me from more "normal" things, like raiding, or dungeons. I have to be able to get up and leave at a moments notice, an issue not condusive to longer group activities, so achievement hunting, transmog hunting, mount hunting, doing every quest, etc has been where I have found my fun this xpac. IMO anyone can find fun somewhere in the game if they just try. Hopefully they never get to my situation to where they are forced to, but when put in that situation, you become quite creative if you want to continue doing something you enjoy.

These things to "do" literally existed in previous expansions. And they are god damn trash compared to previous expansions. The mogs are shit, there are no sets, the treasures are a joke. Mounts are okay... except the parrot shit from lame island expeditions.
There is nothing to enjoy, leveling is shit now. If I wanted to beat mobs like they are from god damn fucking raids in terms of HP, i'd join a god damn raid!
Pet battles are pointless and a joke. Roleplaying is pathetic, just no. I did that as a teen on BYOND games and i've outgrown such a childish and pathetic thing. Hell most people are terrible at roleplaying in this game, it's so shallow and cringy there are just no words.

One of the things i like about farming mounts and pets is that you will always have them and that they will always be as useful as when you get them.
Farming for better gear is fun too, but when a new expansion comes, all your top gear will be worth nothing.
But your mount and pets will still have the same value and work just as well with a new expansion. :)
I still love and use the favourite mount i got 3 expansions ago, but i can not even remember the top gear from that time. :)

I am a mom, a wife of 33yrs, a daughter with responsibilities ....and to get wow time is still a thrill. The things to do in this game are endless, depending on the type of player you are. I can truly just pick something that fits my mood. I have tried other games, there is nothing I could find that offers the gambit that Warcraft does imo. I have just started working on Loremaster Achievement again. Thank you for the video, gave me a couple of ideas. =)

  • @KevinKanthur
    @KevinKanthur 5 лет назад +19

I don't get most of the comments in this video.
For me, the fun in WoW is doing all these things, finding your journey and playing through it. I have a friend who is new at WoW and he feels like there's so much to do in WoW, he wants to farm mounts but he feels he's busy right now because most of the time we do arenas and the daily bgs. He wants to farm for transmog, he wants to farm old reps in order to get mounts, etc. He's not interested in achievments, but he feels like there's so much to do. For me, I just got Pathfinder part 1 in the last hour, I only run LFR every week and I mostly do pvp and world quests. When I have some free time from those things, I go to The Broken Isles because I didn't play much in Legion and I want an allied race, so I need to farm reps there. I have 211 mounts and I feel proud of that, when I see some of them I remember farming the reputations and that feels great. I'm not a fan of farming mounts that have a low % of dropping from old raids tho, but I sometimes do it with my friend. I love pet battles and I have most of the achievments from the old world, but I haven't gotten deep into BfA pets yet.
For me, playing a MMORPG is all about those things. Not only raiding for gear and then leaving the game, I find no interest in that style of playing the game, but you have to find your own style and enjoy it.
I wish leveling was more fun, but I find it boring as fuck. But I wish I'd have more characters. Right now I only have my main at 120 and a couple of 110's and 100's, and more around 70 or 80. I feel like there's so much more to explore for me in WoW and I've been playing since 2011.

I don't play WOW anymore (but watching this channel makes it tempting to get into it again). When I was playing WOW my "hobby" was creating the best and/or sleek looking UI I could. Trying out and testing addons both old and new was a great thing to pass time. It took a fair bit of time to get a pixelperfect UI for each class and role in PVE and PVP, but I found it very rewarding to have completed the perfect UI for my characters.

I've farmed for mounts too much. All for no return. Dont have Rivendare's Deathcarger, dont have Invincible, dont have either of the rare dragons from Northrend, no Mimiron's head. Its a brutal farm for hardly any reward.
I'm also a huge altoholic. I would always just make a new character, get him to anywhere from 20-60 and then delete him.
But this game isnt near as fun as it used to be so even all this stuff I get burnt out on.

Role Play is by far the most enjoyable thing you can do in WoW. You don't rage over getting the wrong azerite traits, over losing an RBG because of a bad team. When you have nothing to do, you just hop on your favourite character and go explore the vast world like people in Vanilla.
And btw, ERPers in Goldshire are outcast weirdos and should be banned.

  • @GUTSU98

I knew about all of these, but for the ones that were not obvious (like pet battles) I really just wanted a comprehensive rundown and you did a splendid job at that, so thank you very much. Great video overall, glad to see someone whose view is not narrowed by : Azerite armor sucks, waiting for lore sucks, WoW in it's 8th expansion is one-dimensional. I've been trying to get back into WoW a little more seriously, and I love Bfa so far (from a filthy semi-casual player's point of view) and I seem to have missed out on tons of little things that spice up your gameplay like these tons of add-ons. I'd like you to share with me, if possible, what sort of add-ons you use to make your gameplay feel more immersive or just improve it by making things more smooth and easy ( like the rogue add-on in legion that let you open the door to the uncrowned automatically, although it was silly thing to ask for )

Try as hard as I might to watch videos or streams that have usually nothing to do with WoW, or are supposed to be presented as upbeat, somewhere someone (many someones) will negatively comment on WoW. I am so close to just not watching any videos or streams just to stay away from the negative comments, which is VERY unfair to the content creators, but the complaining is getting so bad its like a disease.

Agreed, it’s like people forget that from launch to the first patch of like... the three latest expansions was awful and filled with issues that people complained about.
Around this time in Legion, people were complaining about a gated Suramar, being locked to a certain spec because of AP levels and also the awful RNG on legendaries.

I gather like a chipmonk for Winter. Herb, Cooking, and Fishing.
I stalk the market to see what sells high and buys low.
Missing out on Siege of Boralus, I realized how important rep farming was, so I complete my dailies daily.
I level pets, so far 2 are level 10.
I look for ways to upgrade my transmog, and what mounts/pets I can hunt for.
PvP is fun, unless the team has no teamwork, then it feels like just work /afk

There is always raising Kua'fon. This also completes the achievement: How to Ptrain Your Pterrordax. This is Horde only and requires 120. It starts with farming for an egg (from pterrordaxes). This is a low drop rate item (I just happened to get it questing and assumed it was something everyone got). This egg starts a quest called "Child of Pa'ku". You take it to her and she has you take it to a nest as it's about to hatch. Out of the egg comes Kua'fon, who now thinks you're it's momma. This starts a long process of dailies (sort of like getting the raptor in Un'Goro Crater). This is a series of meta quests completed through dailies, with each meta taking a couple of days to complete. When you do his daily you earn a bit of rep with him (there's a little progress bar above his head). In addition to this, if you miss a day you lose a little bit of rep (lorewise it's his trust or bonding bar). Remember your character is literally raising this baby Pterrordax. In the end you are rewarded with an achievement and a mount (that weirdly doesn't show in the mount tab if you don't have him). I'm still working on this and should be done in about a week. There's a little bit of comedy as Kua'fon can't seem to get the hang of flying (much to Pa'ku's disappointment).

I used to be a hardcore player when I was young, but once Cata rolled around I started falling off the raiding train. My raiding guild fell apart due to some drama, and I just spent my WoW days trying to have fun with my friends who remained. College rolled around for me and now I work. I don't know that I'll ever go hardcore again, and I do take breaks and unsub from time to time. My biggest break was most of legion, a year +. I recently came back from a two month hiatus after a death in the family. BFA seemed great at first but it's starting to feel dry. It stinks because I keep coming back because WoW is a game I love so much. But there are lots of things to do in game that I do enjoy. I love gold making, I like to challenge myself and make new characters on new servers and see how much gold I can make, I mount collect and pet collect, I go after achievements (currently working on wrapping up Loremaster). Like I said I don't play as much as I used to. And I do play other games outside of WoW (Smash has been controlling my life the past few days, lol). Good video, mate. If you're gonna keep playing the game, might as well do some of these rather than just sit AFK in SW/Org/Dal.

I am a total altoholic too, I really love what they have done now with each spec being very different from the next, it's three unique techniques for each class aside from demon hunter but dh's are still awsome. The vanilla specs had fewer new abilities and more just extra skill points to things. There was a time around mid way through Cata that I got burnt out some so I took some little breaks but now I am behind again since I missed out on about half of legion, I really would have liked to upgrade some of my artifact weapons that was a poor move to make them no longer accessible. But I have all kinds to do in-game. And I like Vindictus. Star Wars The Old Republic even though it is mostly dead. The game is a bit stiff but the story and character interaction is great. Years ago I played Ultima On-line and got hooked, I wish they would have made a worthy sequel, UO2 with the industrial and natural landscapes with the matrix style combat system was something I wanted and sadly it was cancelled. I really love the art style they went with for BFA and I have not unlocked even 1 allied race yet, I like the pirate/privateer theme with the drops we get. And Boralus' clothing the npcs wear.

When I played, I was a main supplier for certain materials for some raiding guilds. I was their sole provider for such materials. In return, I made a boatload of gold and was invited to do some stuff with them. I wasn't too terribly geared for having a bunch of crafted, handed down, looted, and auction bought epics. I could have been better geared but I lacked the time and motivation to do the 20 and 40 man raids. I preferred the 5 man dungeons. I also participated in a good chunk of world PvP.

Leveling on a new server only doing herbalism, mining, fishing and cooking, and farming for cooking. Takes forever, but it's making me a lot of gold, at least now at level 70+

I did most of those, except Role-Playing I guess. I was also a big collectioneer. I collected pets, mounts, toys, some gear even before Wardrobe, achievements (Insane, Hero of Shattrath, festival meta achievement...), quest (quest completist) with 2 full servers of alts. I started horde characters on a second realm sometime between Draenor expansion, playing both factions (got a ton of gold from garrisons). Also had 3 alliance chars with their own guild bank, and a nice collection of all crafting mats and similar from all expansions.
But Legion was too much. Blizzard went too far with adding too many things to do. As I read, BfA is similar, there is much too much content in Wow for me to enjoy playing. You literally can never get to the end, not even theoretically. So I decided to stop playing. And defeating Argus was a nice ending to the whole story arc from the start of Pandaria.
