Louisville is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the 28th most-populous city in the United States. Louisville is the historical seat and, since 2003, the nominal seat of Jefferson County, on the Indiana border.
Named after King Louis XVI of France, Louisville was founded in 1778 by George Rogers Clark, making it one of the oldest cities west of the Appalachians. With nearby Falls of the Ohio as the only major obstruction to river traffic between the upper Ohio River and the Gulf of Mexico, the settlement first grew as a portage site. It was the founding city of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, which grew into a 6,000-mile (9,700 km) system across 13 states.
Today, the city is known as the home of boxer Muhammad Ali, the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Fried Chicken, the University of Louisville and its Cardinals, Louisville Slugger baseball bats, and three of Kentucky's six Fortune 500 companies: Humana, Kindred Healthcare, and Yum! Brands. Muhammad Ali International Airport, Louisville's main commercial airport, hosts UPS's worldwide hub.
Since 2003, Louisville's borders have been the same as those of Jefferson County, after a city-county merger. The official name of this consolidated city-county government is the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government, abbreviated to Louisville Metro. Despite the merger and renaming, the term "Jefferson County" continues to be used in some contexts in reference to Louisville Metro, particularly including the incorporated cities outside the "balance" which make up Louisville proper. The city's total consolidated population as of the 2020 census was 782,969. However, the balance total of 633,045 excludes other incorporated places and semiautonomous towns within the county and is the population listed in most sources and national rankings.
The Louisville-Jefferson County, KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) includes Louisville-Jefferson County and 12 surrounding counties, seven in Kentucky and five in Southern Indiana. As of 2019, the MSA had a population of 1,395,634, ranking 43rd nationally.

Really, the only people that go downtown (4thStreetLive) are “visters/out of towners”. Only time local Louisvillians go downtown at night is probably if there’s a game/concert at the Yum!Center.. Bardstown Rd/Highlands (just east of downtown) is where you’ll find the active nightlife in L’ville 🎉😊

@@TheTravelerRVsn’t that the trend in most major cities, these days? Downtowns just aren’t what they used to be! I know ATL is like that now. Used to travel to ATL from L’ville couple times a month back in the early/mid 00s. And downtown ATL was VERY ACTIVE back then! As of Louisville
@@JUSAGUYNKY i wonder how much is from all the entertainment one can have now days with out even leaving the house, causing the younger generations to explore outside even less for entertainment now.

thanks, most of these are on my list to get, and will be coming. I did Tusla once but had to scrap it. I did do Denver also, got those up already and hit Birmingham one rainy morning. 👍
Great Video, but you hit every red light in town.
right.. i try to take my time to give people more time to take everything in.. which ends up with me hitting most of the redlights..
I think I’m part of small percentage (or large) that watch these types of vids at (2xSpeed) and just hit the 15sec FF button on the screen a couple/ few time at red lights. Which I’ve noticed that St Louis may have the LONGEST red lights. And you would think a city like that would have shorter ones 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
@@JUSAGUYNKY yeah, the way i watch them is to just play them on my TV while im not watching TV. usually while im doing other things like, exercising, cleaning, creating art, and so forth. funny thing is i even play these types of video when i sleep.

Why are you yt to scared to come down Preston and Jackson on your so called tours of downtown. Downtown includes Muhammad Ali, Chestnut, Preston and Jackson, but yters like you are scared to come to downtown hood of Louisville.
