You're an absolute inspiration to me. Your attitude towards so many skills is exactly the sort of attitude that I admire and aspire towards. I don't comment on youtube videos often, but I've watched so much of your content and learned so much from you, by the content of the video of course, but also from observing your attitude and response to problems and failures. So I wanted to reach out and let you know that you are having an incredibly positive impact on me, and I am extremely grateful to you for this!
Hey Phil, thank you so much for taking the time to write and for your very kind comments! I'm glad I've been able to help out and I hope to keep providing content for you and everyone else who are interested. Thank you once again and take care!
I also know very little about music theory and my friend that is a musician always says my music is interesting because I do unusual/unpredictable things. That's the cool thing about creative pursuits is sometimes having no idea what you are doing is a good thing. I think the one thing I would encourage people to do is learn about what key your writing in, because it makes it a lot easier to know what "palette" of notes to choose from. Once you know your key you can just play with it and see what sounds good, but as long as you stay in your key it won't sound terrible. Also helps if you want to change a happy sounding song (major key) to a sad sounding song (minor key.)
Dude, this is song is sick. I've been trying to learn game development for about the past 6 years, and just a week or two ago I decided to try to learn the sound and music part of dev. I had all but given up hope, thinking I have no musical ability, but this has inspired me to give it another go. Thank you.
Go for it! Everything takes time and patience - I've been doing stuff since the early 90s, so every year you can improve a bit here and there! Take care and good luck!
Start with something simple, like MIDI. You might also like trackers (Renoise is really good and powerful modern tracker). It takes time and patience but i personally haven't seen anyone with "no musical ability". You can do that.
First you convinced me to switch my game from high-poly (which looked mostly horrible :P) to low-poly. Now I'm feeling convinced to give it a go to create some medieval-like music for it by my own, instead of trying to buy it. Now, the last thing that I need to look into are sound effects - I hope they can be created in similar way with satisfying results.
Thank You for sharing your knowledge. I am too a Game Dev / Music Composing enthusiast (self-taught), my main instrument is the Guitar (acoustic & electric). I like your approach to Music creation. Your game is looking (and sounds) really good. Cheers 💯👍🏻
Thanks Alec, self-taught is a fun journey. I'd love to be able to play the Guitar, I've tried casually to start a few times, but I can't get past the initial barrier.
Line War would be great if it had some really cool vibing musical themes with it. In terms of real time strategy games, one of the reasons Command and Conquer was so good is it had the whole multimedia package, cool music, cool cut scenes/story, cool campaign missions, etc. Creating some cool music to go along with Line War would give the game some personality, especially if you eventually add AI or campaign missions to the game. And Turrican, yes, Chris Huelsbeck is a legend.
@@Imphenzia In short, it's slower, more bass-heavy, more agrressive and action-oriented. There are a lot of midtempo artists, like Rezz, 1788-L, Danger, Hyper, KLOUD, Noisecream, and others, and some of them did music for games, like Cyberpunk 2077, Furi, Ghostrunner. I recommend listening to "Ghostrunner", "The Ascent", "Furi", "Midnight Fight Express" OSTs. Honorable mention is "Trilogy" album by Carpenter Brut. You'll get the idea what midtempo is.
Hey I’m working on an RPG Game I wonder can you possibly make a video how to code for a transmog system? Transmog definition: a feature that allows players to change the design of their character's clothes without losing the stat bonuses of more powerful but arguably uglier armor.
I'm curious to know why you moved from Cubase. Only because Cubase came up the other day at the studio as a recommendation to someone building a home studio for voiceover work. If you're ever feeling curious about music theory, I enjoy a channel on RUclips called 12 Tone where he analyses popular songs (including a lot of classic rock). It's very technical, but explained very entertainingly with musical demonstrations and illustrations of elephants.
I liked Cubase pretty much but I felt that it was a bit outdated when it came to the piano roll, the way you assigned VST instruments, and the automation graphs. It did all of that, I just had a feeling that those things were gradually fixed as a best effort whereas Studio One felt like it was a priority from the start and a newer and more tidy GUI. But it's just personal preference I think. Thanks for the tip!
Cool gameplay, nice music... but they don't work together. I'm really sorry to say that especially because i love graphics and music and do appreciate the effort, but... The music is too "cosmic" it would be a perfect soundtrack for something like Tyrian, R-Type, Salamander etc.
Don't be sorry, I can take feedback :) Thanks, I will try to evaluate what works while playing and what would be more suitable for menus or other situations.

I'd like to say, you are a very talented artist in many aspects.
Thank you for this interesting video.
Thank you so much for the kind words :)
Really dig the music! Well done on the melodies. The music really adds to the vibe of your game :)
Sounds great to me, thanks for sharing!
You had me at Turrican II on the Amiga. ❤
Great track! And the game looks awesome.
The song just needs some arps. Gimme those arps! 😉
Incredibly good!
Thank you!!

Sounds great! Love old video game music and chiptunes. So much focus on nice and memorable melodies.
Thank You for sharing your knowledge.

Sweet - I hope it does well!!
Amazing!!!!!

Wishlisted Dude!
Thanks, I appreciate it :)
Really Cool :D
riktigt bra! :D
that have somehow Jean Michel Jarre Vibes. Also i like its have a positive style. listen to it create smiles....
Thanks, I liked Jarre a lot growing up :)
You’re a wizard
Sounds great and gives me nostalgic vibes, but I feel like midtempo would fit better, as game looks modern, neon and hi-tech
Thanks! Could you define mid-tempo? I googled it to be 80-120 bpm, and this is 130, so that would be slower than this or?

Sounds amazing and you make the things you do look so easy. LOL
Sorry if you've already said this but what video editor do you use for your editing?
Thank you! I use Davinci Resolve, it is free to a good degree :)

When I make an animation of Rigid Body ,it never play above 250 frames .
Why ?

Guile theme
Hi . FL Studio or Cubase ? Which is better?
Cubase in my mind =)
