    They need to make a cc4 in 8inch. Would be great!

      This comment, this idea/suggestion is the whole reason I came online , to search and see if one has been made yet. I know this comment is old, however just wanted to say I’m happy to see there are others that feel the same way, the cc4 in 8” would make an excellent bench stone! On another note I find the black ceramic a very strange stone.. fallkniven sees it as a very fine ceramic.. I see it more as a in between coarse and medium stone, it’s very strange stuff specially under the “fine ceramic” category.
      Back on the 8” cc4 topic, I’m sure I will not be the first, nor the last to inquire, but I’ll head over to fallkniven website now and shoot them an email requesting an 8” cc4 be put in production, hopefully someday they pull the trigger on it, it would surely be a seller. Cheers

    I know that this video is some years old. May I ask how the ceramic side performs after all that time? It is said that when new the ceramic is quite coarse but gets much finer when used (after a break-in period). How fine does it get? Any idea how the grit compares to a waterstone?

      The ceramic surface has held up very well and kind just clogged up, it still cuts well though

      @@StackhouseKnives Thank you. Although the scratch pattern looks quite coarse the edge seems to be much finer than expected. Just my thoughts.

      @@schnitzschlumpf4095 I think they are very much based on how much pressure you put down as you are sharpening

    Hi!
    You released this video a good while ago.
    How has the diamond side of the stone held up?

      Because u dont need to pressure the knife, othervise u destroy the diamont sides!!!!
      u only must stroke the golden diamont side !!!!

      Küçük boyları tercih edilebilir kamp için. Fakat büyük boy bir bileme taşı (makita) öneririm.

    Hi. For around 105 mm blade length (Mora knives). Would you recommend better DC4 or DC521 ? ;> (I would use it at home)

    • @StackhouseKnives
      @StackhouseKnives  6 лет назад

      yeah id say the dc4 would be the one for you as moras aren't that long

    I have the DC4 and DC3 and they're great, but i do think the golden diamond side wears away faster than a water stone, which is a bit of a turn off for me

      Really,
      did you notice that the diamond side performed less after a while?

    • @StackhouseKnives
      @StackhouseKnives  3 года назад

      I found the gold colour wears off and the surface gets finer with use but haven't had it wear a grove/decrease in size with use?

    • @Ve-suvius
      @Ve-suvius 3 года назад +1

      How does it perform Erik for you.
      Is it less good?
      Sometimes the first roughness wears off but then you come at how it is supposed to be after a few initial sharpenings.
      Though there are diamond stones where the grit gets lost all together. Which is not what it supposed to do/be ofcourse.

    • @zombiefighterof1987
      @zombiefighterof1987 3 года назад

      I haven't had any problems with a groove forming, but it is much less efficient at grinding on both sides

      @@zombiefighterof1987
      A groove like in a waterstone is indeed unlikely.
      But I've seen quite few diamond stones having little sections with the diamond flake off.
      Still flat, but won't sharpen anymore at those parts.
      Can happen to the expensive ones as well.

    Hi! I've just recently taught myself to finally hone my blades to hair-shaving sharpness. I am using a DC4 stone. Since you've been using a similar one, for a while now.
    May I ask, does the ceramic side get worn out or caved in at all? Thanks.

    • @StackhouseKnives
      @StackhouseKnives  3 года назад

      That is awesome! Not the don't wear so you don't have to redress them, that's one of the reasons they're great - less maintenance.

    I Will also recomend the cc4. The same on the grey/Black side as the dc4 or dc531. The White side are mutch finer. I use the White side for daily maintance. Use a home made jigg to keep the right angle.
