While he didn't speak on Raymond's death, Melvin detailed being around him the days before, revealing that Raymond was planning to make a deal with a friend to trade a car. After revealing that no one was convicted in Raymond's death, Melvin went on to speak about Tookie Williams being framed for murder and a "crucial error" being made on his life. But I would describe it as an autobiography where he utilizes his knowledge of history, psychology, and sociology to analyze and make sense of the trajectory of his life. He wants the readers to learn from his mistakes and know that redemption is possible. He is very detailed when giving his life story. However, he isn't glorifying anything he partook in or his legacy regarding Crippin.
