When I researched on this previously, I found that it is no longer being done in SA but really looking forward to Part 2. I really hope we can find that it is possible.

In South Africa we used to have that product. It was called Universal Life Cover or Universal Policy. It was phased out by all companies. Some people have it but no new policies that are available.

I'm halfway to watching this Financial Bunny and I couldn't wait to comment. Forgive me but, there is 2 concepts. Infinite banking and velocity banking. I stumbled upon this 2 years ago, and I have been struggling to find an insurance company in SA that I can setup this. Denzel Rodriguez also teaches this and I think he is brilliant.

Lol amazing woman over here. Quirky too.
I've seen videos of American investors speaking of this thing and was wondering why the South African counterparts weren't talking about it too. Kanti it might not be possible here. Please keep us updated, really appreciate that.

Mashilo, I am also following infinite banking concept from US wealth creation advisers and asked the same question from my insurance broker: i.e. whether you can borrow money from your life insurance to invest, in say property, and I was told that it was not allowed in South Africa. Perhaps you can be an activist to make ensure that this product is available to ordinary citizens in South Africa. Apparently, there is a provision for this for South African billionaires.

Family bank-everyone in the family takes up life insurance, when they die it pays into the family trust, that money is invested and family members can borrow from to buy eg property, payments are made back to the trust, like in a bank

In Namibia, I have recently discovered the contingencies aspect of insurance that will give access to similar benefit. But the only difference between contingencies and the aspect you are explaining is that there the guys put Lumpsum amounts in it ( claims them as tax deductions) and are able borrow money against that as collateral . I will explore if there are some companies that allows one to build over time instead of lumpsum but I was equally blown when I discovered the concept I must say too

What I've also seen is that in USA, their banks offer them under 2% interest unlike us. That's why they use their WHOLE LIFE POLICIES to score off that rate. We in SA earn far more than USA guys do.

I know someone who had critical illness cover, got sick and their insurance paid out around R1 million. That person used the payout to build wealth as they fully recovered from the illness but also saved some money for any health complications.

I have always said there MUST be a way to enjoy or earn some money while you are still alive through life insurance. It can’t be called LIFE insurance if we can’t use it while alive. So it’s basically death insurance nje.

You can check out Sanlam's wealth bonus. A certain portion of your premiums go to your wealth bonus. After a certain number of years you can draw out some money and that is if you have not claimed from your insurance. So we have one client that will get paid between R2mil and ~R4mil (this is just a range for this client, I can't give the actual figure) in the next 5 years when the wealth bonus ceases.
