I use an Avet reel, Sabre rod with a 80lb spectra backing to a 30# flouro. Fishing this deep you have to use heavier 10-12 oz weights to get down quickly. Double loop with larger swimbaits with cut squid, or live squid, and heavy jigs produce.
Wow. Good day. I just bought a Striper 2301. Looking forward to getting back out there, it’s been many years. I’m going to have to get familiar with all the rules and such.
Such a rad day out there. They keep changing them every year, but this new depth rule really made some big fish come to the boat. Get out there and have fun!
Great question! The fish we were getting were around 450 feet of water which is an enormous amount of pressure but the fish is accustomed to this pressure. When we bring them to the surface, the pressure change causes barotrauma (pressure trauma) in the form of popped eyes and the stomach inflating through their mouths. You can see some cases of it in the underwater camera. Interesting enough, if we return the fish back to depth, the fish reverts back to normal unharmed!
@@Joshuaduong yeah they’re starting to do heavier restrictions but they’re lowering the depth for us so we are getting much bigger fish. Just can’t keep as much which makes sense
Nice Slay!! Miss that Pacific fishing action!
Thank you! The ocean was good to us this trip
Cool Video! Keep them coming
Thanks for watching! Hoping to get some even better underwater shots of some rockfish soon
What kind of setup would you recommend for that type of fishing?
