  • @Casitascrawlers

    I mean eventually guys you want to get to the point where you hit the release and it drops FREELY. Having those brakes set so high impedes casting distance.

    • @John_the_anglerr
      @John_the_anglerr 5 месяцев назад

      With your thumb hit the release while simultaneous holding the line proceed to cast while your thumb is still close, even touching, but barely. So the second the lure or bait or whatever youre using hits the water you put your thumb back and stop the line cause when you dont thats where you get the birds nest. If you have to let it sink a bit release your thumb again but same relation barely touching the spool to allow it to drop because if its dropping fast enough and it hits the floor your spool will keep spinning and birds nest. You got this guys.

    Good simple and concise instructions. Pickles, poor understanding of proper technique while using a bait caster gives bait caster reels a bad name. Hopefully somebody will see your video and learn how to properly do it and continue to use bait caster going forward.

    What is hilarious about this video is that you can find this advice in the instruction booklet that the baitcasting reel comes with. The whole idea is to not have the spool rotating faster than the lure is pulling the line off. And if you dont learn to use your thumb as a break and practice with the equipment doing this wont really matter anyway because you will get a backlash.
