Generally I use a focal point in my collages that is usually placed to the right of center. I move it to the left on occasion! Sometimes when just before gluing the pieces, I place a piece of blank paper over the collage. Then carefully flip it over so I can glue the pieces in the same order. I may not be explaining myself very well. However it works for me many times.
It all clicked for me when you moved it to the left, like rose I have a focal point, although since watching your posts I am try to stretch myself. Thank you for sharing
Hi, I am just staring with collage and for me, I create balance by filling one side of the page and leaving white space on the other; or I add a big piece on one side and on the other side I use small pieces. I also repeat colors or shapes. I love for videos, I am leaening a few things and also validating some intuitive steps I am taking. Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the video Lydia, composition is my nemesis, I have beautiful papers that I have made or found but I have a total blockage when it comes to assembly, putting it all together. I feel I am missing something, maybe it’s design or intuition, I don’t know, it’s just stymies me. Is this something that you teach in your workshops and community?
I teach composition in my courses as well as in my membership group. And we have a monthly live Q&A session in the membership group where you can get feedback 😉
I really like the result of this 👌. Although it first looked very busy it ended up very well balanced 👍

I really like you use all kind of shapes. When I do my collages I always do it the grid way, that suits me best.

It's so funny that I always tend to turn the video a quarter, so that the right side is at the bottom. In that way the composition works best for me!
8:18 - good. You said you learned something from it. What did you learn? Thanks.
