km5658 me too, but to be fair Lee's touch and feel is now far beyond what it used to be, esp. in this vid. To the point that if it's not harmonically complex phrasing it takes a while to guess who's playing. Superb jams!

I love the fact that you actually approached Fender to remake Pete's amazing purple guitar and I love the fact that they actually did it!!! Plus, I love the story how Pete's got his Tele! I exactly know that feeling. I sold my beloved Lay Paul couple of years ago and after my divorce, I went into a depression and all of a sudden good stuff happened and I messaged the buyer and it turns out he wants to sell it. So I bought it back. Was one of the happiest moments in my life. I love how "personal" your videos are and that you just are yourselves. Greets from Frankfurt/Germany!

This is actually my first time hearing Pete play and I have to say it is utter perfection. Nothing complicated but super clear and well atriculated. Utterly fantastic mate!

I really enjoyed this I’ve watched you guys over the years and I own several fenders on the been playing for 40 years this was really a treat I like the sound and the level of the recording of the guitars so much more than some of the other videos thank you so much it was great

km5658 thatcisnt true. Yeah the ghostfret and the modern stuff is for high gain but their traditional strats and tele models are so blues it's amazing

You can really feel Lee and Pete starting to gel on a good groove when they play together on this video. Lee's guitar playing improving constantly, by leaps and bounds, with his blues leads. Good stuff, and of course great guitars too!

These comments make me laugh, either relics are spawn of the devil or the best thing since sliced bread. The thing is Fender will sell you one with a relic finish and they'll sell you one in pristine nick. It's all down to personal preference, whatever floats your boat.

Jakob Morningstar lol. could you tell the difference in the sound between a fender tele and a Yamaha tele from late 90s with the same pickups ? Will be very tough. I think wood does make a difference but with same electrionics and amp will be harder to tell. All comes down to feel.
I bet some pacifica sound awesome spans some not, same for any brand.

I'm not a fan of relicing, but there is no denying the joy these guitars put in Pete's heart and the smiles on his face. Cheers gentlemen, wonderful demonstration!
Why talking away the joy of beating up your guitar ? I understand that poeple don't want to wait 10 years for their guitar too look like that but there are other ways. I bought a brand new Gibson Les Paul two years ago and man, the joy when you let it slide on the stairs "by accident" or use it to play soft ball. I even used it as a table to rest my feet on it or even to eat. One good thing is to let it rest behind a door so when you open it, it hits the guitar each time a little bit. I even used it as a paddle. Water and humidity is good for your guitar, the most important thing to relic it is the fungus. Rotten wood is the best tone wood you'll ever get.

That red body looks really nice, but Relic'd necks look horrific... I know it's to give the guitar a character but what's the story behind that? 'This guitar has been previous owned by a coal miner, who played for 10 hours a day and washed his hands some time around 1987 and never since... in the mid '90s the mine collapsed, entombing the miner and his trusty guitar. It was recently dug up and can now be yours... for the price of a 2013 Fiat Punto'

These are fantastic sounding guitars. Really wonderful. You could tell that they were drawing soulful playing out of Pete and Lee. I'd go for a pristine finish, myself, but I might be too precious about my guitars. I lament every scratch and ding.
Pete is honestly one of the best guitarists in the world in terms of feel
I lined up 3 high-end guitars at Andertons last year. A relic'd custom shop tele spoke to me in a totally different way to all the others so I bought it. I'll get s**t for this but I too think the lack of paint/lacquer makes all the difference. I love that guitar and can't put it down.
simon french I totally and utterly agree. I bought a relic‘d ‘55 strat and it’s light years ahead of my new-when-bought Les Paul, Jem, Suhr etc. In theory I hate the relic concept, it’s crazy. But in practice - they feel amazing and I’m not afraid of a ding, so I relax more and just enjoy the whole experience more.

Yep, I got a relic'd caballo tono ligero tele last year, not so much because of the look, but the feel and tone. It feels and resonates like wood, not hard plastic. The bare neck, the thin lacquer, the grain, it might not be for everyone but it works for me.

The purple is so surprisingly beautiful...I never really thought about a purple guitar....honestly if I hadn't seen it I'd probably go for that gorgeous green..but it's just stunning...

Great! I own that same guitar. Saw it at Thomann, had to play it and it just felt right...feel, sound, colour, everything! You must understand that I’m an Ibanez guy but this was just the most beautiful thing - and it’s exactly the one Pete has. Good choice my friend.
