Henry, you are too cool! no one does resin kit demos for gunpla from what I know, not to mention your walkthroughs are completely down to earth. keep doing what you do man!
Incredible video..i was nervous about making clear lightsaber blades for a homemade jedi build and now after watching your video i have a little more insight to make my idea a reality...
You sir are a champ for your patience ... however they look awesome! Keep up the great work man! Been a fan for a while now and I dont wanna see u ever stop! :P
I recently got into gunpla after watching MSG 00 and I am looking to eventually custom build something and I planned to have purple beam effects and your videos have been a fantastic resource, thank you
I was thinking of doing this. Not only for beam parts, but also for clear eye parts(cast ones that aren't clear originally even) or any part for that matter. I'm really surprised. It seems to be a lot easier then I would have original thought. I figured there would be more molding issues. I'll have to give this a shot. Thanks for the video. If only to see the result.
I'm looking forward to next week and the inevitable showing off of you MG Sazabi. I'm in the UK and clear resin starter kits are cheap on amazon and it is something I am going to do in the future so thank you Henry for thing tutorial!
This is perfect for a painted custom I plan on doing later this year! I plan on painting an MG Epyon in 2001 Megatron colors, but the beam blade for Epyon's beam sword is......bright green lol. Can't really paint that with translucent red and expect good results, so this video is a godsend :D
That is one of the coolest things I have seen recently, they look exactly like Sinanju's beam parts. I may have to try my hand at resin casting (a purple beam saber sounds like a great idea to me).
The possibilities for this are really quite endless. Hell, you could make beam versions of some pretty hefty weapons or other parts. Henry, please make a follow up after the full cure of what they look like then, plugged into the Sazabi and gloss coated. I am intensely curious of the end result. That said, you are very busy, so it is understandable if you don't.
I'm curious, did the final result once fully cured turn brittle or frail? This looks like a real nice way to make some clear beam sabers for the Gyan Vulcan, since the beam in the valuable pod are actually opaque.
That looks great man! Though if you think about it, it could look cooler instead of adding the dye, leaving it colorless and shading with clear paint later, that way you could leave the hilt side colorless to simulate the white "energy-burst" effect. Whatcha think? And the effect would be even better with some LED installation!
Nice! I've had a plan to recast some custom effect parts made out of bake-able clay, but haven't had the right project for it. Some explosions, with leds cast inside the parts, would really be something. Keep it up! The Oz project is really coming along nicely!
You should keep your resin in the frig to slow down the curing time. It is a good idea to spray "release agent" before pouring the second half the mold. (this is to prevent the two halves of the mold) from bonding together) A good release agent is Ultra 4 Polyester Parfilm, direct from West Coast Plastics.
Have you ever considered remolding parts for people who have lost or broken pieces? I can see that being a pretty profitable venture as long as you have the same kit.
Wow this is amazing. Am planning to recast the clear green parts of the gun of the MG star build strike. Gonna make it look like the one from the RG build strike :) The MG's gun looks dull with just the decals covering up for the green parts -.-
This is perfect!!! Find a way to make moldings with make moldings with clear resin clearing and now you giving me the idea. Because Find a solution to change the flames on my try burning find the solution to change the flames on my try burning done Gundam from orange to blue. Thank you for giving me the answers .
I thought you always had to pressure cast clear resin to avoid bubbles? Did this work because of the slow drying time of your resin or some other reason?
Is the purple a possible reference to Hi-v Gundam? Possible recolor project with the upcoming v Gundam ver Ka.? I've always found a light purple beam saber would better fit the light purple suit, as opposed to the bright blue that it's kits come with...
I know you did and I enjoyed your review. What I meant was, and I am sorry for the confusion, I am looking forward to you showing us your MG Sazabi with the new clear yellow parts. That is if you are kind enough to show us. LOL.
how long before you make a completely clear resin kit? be really cool to see one especially an OZ project kit (after u make the normal one of course). i would love to see a clear leo!
uhm may i ask a question to you @vegeta8259 .... uhm did it evere happen to you that while mixing the resin it accidentally harden ???? im talking about the normal resin not the clear one
What type of resin would you use to cast action figure joint parts like figma's joint system? I'm currently using smooth cast 305 and I feel like it is too weak for such small parts.
this it out of topic but hoping you could hep what is the resolution of your video I mean its full screen my turns out like a box black areas on the side
Alright then. My apologies for assuming that you already knew about his channel. My bad. I do agree with you that this video should probably have that as a tag so that any others in your same situation will not have that problem.
if you can afford it and plan on making A LOT of resin parts it would be a good idea to invest in a vacuum chamber (just big enough for most of your possible casts) it will make sure that there are 0 bubbles in any of your casts
Well "Dude", before "Flapping (your) gums"....you should take into account, that not everyone will see that video first. I was only made aware of "this" video through a friend of mine. So I am "unaware" of any other videos. As people become "aware" of any tutorials they will only come across them "one at a time". Each one must be aproached as though it were the first. The only way to avoid this is to anounce in each video.... "this is part (?) of a series of videos.
As a tutorial he needs to cover every step, otherwise people will try this and get quite sore that several steps were not covered. I make a very "modest" living casting resin......I would not steer people the wrong way.
/watch?v=joexdltgj-k&feature=relmfu Watch this first Tutorial vid before flapping your gums dude. He went over that in this one and imply made this video to show that you can cast in clear resin as well.
Henry, you are too cool! no one does resin kit demos for gunpla from what I know, not to mention your walkthroughs are completely down to earth. keep doing what you do man!
i recently got back into model building and i can't thank you enough for your reviews and tutorials. they are a big help!
Wow! Henry, you are a real pro modeler! Kudos to your awesomeness!
Incredible video..i was nervous about making clear lightsaber blades for a homemade jedi build and now after watching your video i have a little more insight to make my idea a reality...
been wondering whether it was possible to make clear parts recently, and coincidentally you uploaded this tutorial. thanks for confirming my ideas :D
You sir are a champ for your patience ... however they look awesome! Keep up the great work man! Been a fan for a while now and I dont wanna see u ever stop! :P
Hey man best tutorial I have seen for casting resin. I am going to be recasting parts for miniatures thanks bud!!!
i'm super new to gunpla and this is definitely above my current level but you have blown my mind. This is awesome
I recently got into gunpla after watching MSG 00 and I am looking to eventually custom build something and I planned to have purple beam effects and your videos have been a fantastic resource, thank you
Now you make a little shop and you're set :D, you're a very talented man great to get these videos from you thank you.
this seems like a good way of resin casting a whole kit into any clear version you want...might try this out.
Thank you so much for this clear effect par tutorial.Plus great work with all your spectacular models. Cant wait too see your completed OZ project.

Back when resin casting was both an art and skill. Now its just 3D printing.
fantastic cast, wow. i would be very pleased if my casts came out looking this good.

Awesome tutorial man!
If I ever have a need or if I'm ever ambitious enough to try this, I think this video will come in handy.
Thanks for sharing!

Loved this video. You made something I was so confused about seem so easy. I'll have to try this some day in the near future.
I'm curious, did the final result once fully cured turn brittle or frail? This looks like a real nice way to make some clear beam sabers for the Gyan Vulcan, since the beam in the valuable pod are actually opaque.
Did the resin parts eventually harden? I'm using a different resin and my parts are still soft. Would you recommend the resin you used?
Hi, I can't seem to find the tutorial video you are talking about and was wondering what you use for the silicone to make the mold with. Thanks.
That looks great man!

Is your regular resin casting tutorial still up? I can't find it. If it is, can you provide a link, please?
I dont understand how someone can dislike ur videos
That is interesting! I sincerely hope you chose to share with us the results. Thanks.
when you casting a large piece do you use a bigger cup or just use the same cup as long it is still in open time?
thanks for the tutorial
DUDE YOU ARE FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!
Wow this is amazing. Am planning to recast the clear green parts of the gun of the MG star build strike. Gonna make it look like the one from the RG build strike :) The MG's gun looks dull with just the decals covering up for the green parts -.-
Have you tried the dentist gel to make molds instead of silicon?

Hey friend! .... wondering where your resin casting tutorial is ... cant find it anywhere! ... could you provide the link? Thx!

wow , nice job sir , it's a very good result
That is really cool.
virgo II in the backround is lookin good too
nice job! would this resin work for an elevated guitar pickguard?
Is this the old sazabi kit for those beam parts?
Check out Smooth cast 325 (i think) it's a clear resin that cures a lot faster and also accepts all sorts of dyes!
Do you wear a mask when you deal with resin?
What type of resin would you use to cast action figure joint parts like figma's joint system? I'm currently using smooth cast 305 and I feel like it is too weak for such small parts.
What silicon and resin were you using??
this would also be good for stuff like 1/144th scale wing kits where the effects arent clear at all
this it out of topic but hoping you could hep what is the resolution of your video I mean its full screen my turns out like a box black areas on the side
I'm tempted to do this to a hg 00 quanta armor to simulate the quantum burst mode.
That is awesome.
Alright then. My apologies for assuming that you already knew about his channel. My bad. I do agree with you that this video should probably have that as a tag so that any others in your same situation will not have that problem.
wow. this is kinda awesome!
You should do a gradient bi-colour translucent casting tutorial. Coz that's what plan to do in mind, but zero experience. :P Thanks
awesome ... liked n faved
you should take a 2.0 re-cast the armor in clear resin with aproprate color dies and then have the special edition 2.0s for waaay cheaper
how much silicone rubber do you have?
I know its old vid but where is the other tutorial u said in the vid?
whoa that is dope!
Great stuff as always! : )
could you cast an entire runner of clear parts like this?
*****
I was thinking about removing them from the runner first but I wanted to do it for the try burning gundam and all the parts are pretty small
uhh, buy a bunch of HGUC hyaku shikis???
3d printing will make this much simpler someday
if you can afford it and plan on making A LOT of resin parts it would be a good idea to invest in a vacuum chamber (just big enough for most of your possible casts) it will make sure that there are 0 bubbles in any of your casts
very cool.
The Duplo blocks are required.
Can you do this with thicker objects ? Will they still cure properly ?
Oh cool ! Thanks for the info. Do you think this would be good for casting little translucent figures in the style of M.U.S.C.L.E ?
vegeta8259 does that mean it would work well with the MG Unicorn’s psychoframe?
That wouldn't work, Hyaku Shiki's beam sabers have the entire beam saber molded in clear yellow, including the handle.
Gonna make new psycho frame for my mg unicorn
that would blow my mind if he did that
I think I just found a somewhat tedious and costly solution for providing my Vagan HG kits with clear yellow beams
pouring it you dont have too, just dont do it in small enclosed spaces, sanding however, yes you have to wear a mask
You Should Make Your Own Custom Modle Like Prime92 Did
Ohh ok thank you!:)
But your selling your Sazabi on Ebay!
very cool, but lol i would have just put an extra beam sword in there im not waiting another 7 days
i think by the looks of it you're making this for your g-system geara doga
Ohai Virgo II!
He knows dude. lol That part just isn't on camera. It is in the Tutorial Video though.
recast a gundam in all clear omg man
beam heat hawk
