Was one of greatest jools shows ever the divine comedy, blondie, massive attack, roddy frame, ronnie spector all unique in their own way i love them all amazing i love this song neil hannon is lovely to watch a normal lad no frills just the man himself a band and great song.
I've just remembered that i was watching it with my then gf (maybe 10 years after it was broadcast) and she really dug it . Straight after was the bit of TGI Friday with Napalm Death ....the look on her face was priceless 🤣🤣🤣
Ah those salad days, I remember them well, or at least I think I do! Time has moved on. Somehow or other, back in the eighties I think, the coach market had opened up and all of a sudden we had the option of travelling not in the clapped out wheezing old bangers National Express coaxed in to life to struggle us between destinations but Gleaming six wheeled luxury behemoths like Trathens fleet of Neo plan, Mercedes Benz beauties topped off with TV and very attractive, attentive waitresses- I actually looked forward to my coach trip- It wasn't to last. I will write a bit more later!
This should be played at Glastonbury, a real crowd pleaser😜😉😂❤
Neil Hannon is such a likeable guy and a joy to listen to.
😂❤
@Graham Smith
and very talented..
I absolutely love The Divine Comedy! National Express is the icing on the cake! 👍🏻❤️🚎
What a massively huge voice from such a small man.
Classic song, very much in the 60s genre. I just love this type of music.
60s? It's in like 40s swing style
Yes, Lennon would have dug this.
@bigkuriboh3814 is this a joke? It's 1960's inspired more than perhaps any other song ever.
Absolutely brilliant!!! Such a great performance by Neil and the band. Pure class!! 🎉
Fantastic Tune ❤️ 23 yrs later 🙏
`Absolutely Stephen, reminds me of back in the day when we used to go out on the old bonky's!

Jewel of a song
One of his best. One of THE best.
just going to learn this on ukulele. great tune 👏 !!!
Neil treats his performance as if it's the Palladium in 1965. Nice bow at the end.
Luv this song.
I recall the days when you could purchased drinks and sandwiches on the National Express coaches happy days !!!
Paul Vella. Indeed! I have such fond memories of being on the National Express. 🙂🙂
Just love this song 👍
Sound engineer should have got a telling off for setting his mic so quiet.
It all sounds muted 👎🏻
So agree
I remember seeing this and the sound was much better on the broadcast version, so maybe it’s the upload that’s the issue.
What a song! :)
Masterpiece
Fucking classic song.
Yeye
He got the the first verse muddled up bless him!
Did he? Please explain?
MARK KELLY the last two lines of the first verse are meant to be the other way round
It's his song, he decides how to sing it. He can't get it wrong. He just chooses to change it around to keep you on your toes.
Yeah but still great
Actually, I'm not convinced he did. It actually makes more sense.
So little views, what's wrong with people. A perfect vocal 👌 and lice performance
Tune
Neil Hannon .... diamond geezer

Twenty five years ago seems like the years have been on the national express 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎💕💕💕🇬🇧💕🥸🏴🤪🤓🤓🤪🤓❤️❤️👌👌👌🤡✌️
His vocal mic is too quiet and the lead guitar also needs upping. Still amazing. I hope it wasn't that way for the live crowd.
When music was good
It's still good you lazy bastard, just go and look around for it elsewhere than mainstream radio.
It still is . Try looking for it .
