One of my favorite fighters of all time. I was only 6 or 7 when those three were going at it but they sucked me into loving boxing. He was actually my favorite of sugar/hearns/hagler. Good to see he's still in good health.
Marvin Haglar is good person. I wonder how he stayed so grounded after having such a great career. Most fighters can't speak very well after their boxing career.
I met Marvin at a charity boxing event in Manchester in the late 90's. Really nice fella and my favourite middleweight of that era. Definately beat Leonard IMHO, not sure what the judges got paid, sorry, 'thought'?
ohhhh Marvelous....... THE MAN! Best brawler ever.....when u went into fight with this guy,its like going into fucking war. This guy made WAR every time he steped into ring!
I think out of the glorious four I think hagler and Leonard really stood out mostly out if all of them the both were in a very close fight with each other and Leonard edged it out but I still think hagler won;)
Marvin - looking good and talking sense - one title, one champion, get the fights people want to see - attract more sponsors - make more money - everybody's happy - TKO! Know what I mean Harry?
No doubt about it, my favorite fighter ever! I remember watching the decision after the Leonard fight in total and utter disbelief. To me, you have to beat the champion for his title and not have the judges help you to steal away. He deserved much better.
yep i agree, 1987 fight against sugar ray one of the best fights u will see...im a huge ray leonard fan but also reconize greatness in hagler.and agree with u he had just an awesome chin and could take punches all night...he was a rock in the ring.!!
Five (5) not four, they forgot Wilfredo Benitez, who went the whole 15 rounds against Leonard and one punch (among manny from both fighters), (which could went either way), Leonard was the fortunate to end with the victory, (for me nobody loose that day). One of the best performance by both fighters, and the victory that Benitez had over Duran. The staff should get their facts straight before let the commentator talk. Other than that good interview, and hats down to one of the best MMH,
Wooooooowwwww you guys are forgetting Ray Leonard, Ray Robinson, Roberto Duran , and Thomas Hearns so you can't out right give it to him. But in the end they were better champs then these chumps that fight now. Back then boxing wasn't mainly for money but for the pride, the swagger, and the courage.
@angelblaze12000 It's about psycho war. Floyd Mayweather uses OSTD as intimidation tactic. They know Pac doesn't like the blood drawn from his body 1~2 the days of fight, a kinda phobia thing. After he lost to Morales, Pac thought that the blood drawn from him 1 day before the fight weakened his power. Morales also said many times that he didn't feel Pac's power. Many people don't understand that but blatantly assumed Pac is on roids.
there you are, you heard it from one of the greatest fighter of all times, the "Marvelous" boxer. No arguments, no excuses, no dictations, just fight.. that's what it should be...
"Here's a guy who wants to dictate to another person, and wants to tell you what HE wants to do." "I think Pacquiao is Right" "I mean, who are you? Who, are you?? If you want to fight, let's fight. Let's stop all this nonsense" - Marvelous Marvin Hagler
I seen that fight with Mr. Hagler and Sugar Ray Leonard, although at that time I was a Sugar Ray fan, I know the Mr. Hagler won that fight. Lived in Vegas for many years, and that fight was given to the wrong man that night.
We need another Hagler. This guy was afraid of no one, he would never give some bullshit excuse just to get out of a risky fight. One of the bravest fighters of all time. He may not have an undefeated record like Floyd but who do you think is more respected?
@caloy2x I agree with your comment, Pac has been the most current and busy champion. he has stated on numerous occasions that he wants to fight Floyd. I believe that if they fight, Floyd would win on a split decision based on his boxing skills. However, the problem that Pac provides to Floyd is that he is a south paw, a great counter puncher who stays busy, may be able to match Floyds speed as well. Fighters may gain power in several ways, weight gain, strehgth, conditioning, and weightlifting.
Pacquiao and Mayweather WILL meet, everything in life happens exactly whens its meant to,from when you're born to when you die and everything inbetween.People just need to be patient!!Ali/Frazier 1,Tyson/Lewis,Klitchko/Haye even Hagler/Leonard,all super fights always take a long long time to happen, but always do in the end!!
Hagler was unheralded as a totally superb boxer, as it was in his earlier days. Undoubtedly, he's decisively a middleweight legend. Pacquiao vs Mayweather reminds me more of Duran vs Leonard 1. Two or so yrs ago, I'd a said Manny wins without question, but after their last two/three bouts, Manny's lost that sling-shot speed and desire to be ferocious. Where Floyd has looked sublime against Mosley, Marquez and eventually Ortiz.
I think one of the best discussion topics among true boxing fans is the proper order of ranking between the 4 great fighters mentioned in this clip (alphabetically): Duran, Hagler, Hearns, and Leonard. An arguable case can be made for each one, and there will never be a consensus. I'd give me thoughts, but would only get flamed.
I would love to have seen Prime Hagler VS Prime Roy Jones . I think it would have ended up like the first fight between Jones/ Hopkins or Hagler / Leonard . Hagler would press the action , while Jones would look to land flashy combinations like Leonard and keep on the move .
@beniceokay News is that the Pacquiao camp has agreed to unlimited testing. However, Bob Arum is imposing that the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) will do the testings instead of USADA, since Pacquiao is Filipino and Mayweather is an American fighter. I think this makes sense, and I hope that the Mayweather camp agrees with this, so we can finally see this fight happen and for the good of the sport of boxing.
I want PAC vs Sergio! Pac fought Margarito at catch weight of 150 last November. Fireworks of Pac and Sergio are VERY possible if he did that. Margarito weighed 165. Considering Manny graced the 150 weight class, I don't blame Sergio for flirting with that challenge when Bob Arum called him out. Sergio stated in the ring when he KO'd Paul Williams that the fight was not possible because he is too strong and too fast for PAC
@mt3orme 'good observation. He may be of the rare breed of fighters who was built to endure wars, and come out of the fight game just fine'. I like the way he said "Pacquiao." Pak-yo. LOL
If it goes the distance -> I think Pac wins. Many experts have suggested that it will be Pac in a decsion because he's the much busier fighter, will be one coming forward, and it just seems unlikely that either will be able to knock the other out. To me, this seems like the most likely outcome too.
@taganskya59 I feel the same as you in regards to the fight if it ever happens, Floyd is very crafty when it comes to defense and not getting hit. He also likes to tie up his opponent when he might be in trouble. But I think that Manny's non- stop offense would win him the fight, as Floyd would be more on the defense during most of the fight. Maybe Ortiz will do something in September against Floyd, but I don't see that happening either.
I remember when Marvelous, Sugar, Hitman and Hands Of Stone were fighting each other, there were only 3 belts (WBC, WBA and IBF) and the main belt in most peoples eyes was the WBC belt, now, like Marvelous says, there are god knows how many belts out there now (WBO, WBU etc) what a load of crock. That is why its so hard to get undisputed world champs these days and its a joke, I remember Marvelous taking the title off our guy Minter, and the disgraceful treatment he got from fans. Legend.
@ch1nmuzak since when is boxing scored on who's the busier fighter? its scored on 4 things 1) effective aggression (key word being effective) 2) ring generalship (who controls the ring) 3) defence 4) clean hard punching
@RatardedGenius Hatton was a 140 pounder. Floyd's fight vs De la Hoya was one of the most boring fights ever (on top of Pacquiao vs Mosley). Props for Floyd though for beating Mosley. As for Pacquiao, he's naturally smaller than all those guys that Floyd fought. So, I have to give him props for that also.
We need to come up with 1 belt per weight class. Thats exactly what I say for years. Thanks Mr Hagler. Concerning Mayweather vs Pacquiao it certainly wont happen because (and I respect Floyd so much for his achievements and talent) Floyd doesn't want it to happen, thats clear. He doesnt want to put a red mark on his perfect Boxrec record, u can understand that.
LOL @ arrivederci.. People might not know this after the Leonard robbery, he moved overseas and became an action hero in Italian films; basically the Schwatzenneger of Italy.
Hagler and Hearns were great fighters who earned their respect. Mayweather is great as well but will never achieve the respect for as long as continues to make up excuses to avoid Pacquiao. Deep inside, Mayweather appears to be afraid of this one fighter, Pacquiao. Hearns, Hagler, Ali, and all the greats never ducked anyone.
Well said Champ, Marvin was a beast in the ring and is still a gentleman outside of it. True Legend.
Marvin Hagler is so well respected because he's always been a respectful person.
ITS A REAL PITY YOU DON'T HAVE FIGHTERS OF THE CLASS AND SKILL SUCH AS MARVIN AROUND THESE DAYS.
One of my favorite fighters of all time. I was only 6 or 7 when those three were going at it but they sucked me into loving boxing. He was actually my favorite of sugar/hearns/hagler. Good to see he's still in good health.
Hagler was a fucking beast and best inside fighter of all time! Never even knocked down, much less out and arguably the greatest Middleweight ever!
haha, what a lovely guy, undeniably one of the greatest of ANY weight class!
best chin ever
This man is in every sense a fighter.. He was just amazing to watch. Definately one of the best.
what a class act. Hagler is one of my all time favorites, that guy is one of the best south paws of all time, and his inside fighting is brutal.
Marvin Haglar is good person. I wonder how he stayed so grounded after having such a great career. Most fighters can't speak very well after their boxing career.
I still remember the Hagler vs Hearns fight when I was a kid and how excited I was. Hagler is one of my favorite boxers of all time.
Marvin Hagler is my favorite boxer of all times!!! amazing, brave, spectacular and strong!!! A destruction machine!! TOP FIGHTER!!
Hagler will always be a class act
The great Marvin Hagler ! One of the best, excititng and fearsome boxers ever and even more impressive, a gentleman outside the ring !
A great fighter. The Leonard and Duran fights were so good.
I met Marvin at a charity boxing event in Manchester in the late 90's. Really nice fella and my favourite middleweight of that era. Definately beat Leonard IMHO, not sure what the judges got paid, sorry, 'thought'?
Hagler had a fucking granite chin!
ohhhh Marvelous.......
What an era in boxing with those top four fighters!
Great to see Marvin Hagler looking good and healthy.
Haggler,Leonard, hearts, and Durante ,what a lineup of great fighters.
He deserved much better.
hagler is a great fighter. as for his fight with leonard, the way i look at is like this: don't ever leave the fight to the judges.
did anyone else notice marvelous marvin haglers italian at the end? "Ciao Ciao Arrivederci!"
"If I gotta take a drug test, you gotta take one too" 2:24
Hagler didn't know Mayweather is ALSO taking the drug test smh..
Very honest and sincere comment from a great boxer, a legend at that...
yep i agree, 1987 fight against sugar ray one of the best fights u will see...im a huge ray leonard fan but also reconize greatness in hagler.and agree with u he had just an awesome chin and could take punches all night...he was a rock in the ring.!!

THIS MAN SPEAKS THE TRUTH!! EVERYONE THUMBS UP THIS VID
Best fighter off all time!
Marvin is a absolute legend
he's right that there should be only 1 belt per division that would make boxing more intriguing.
If there's ANY fighter whose opinion I respect completely, it's this man.
Still "Marvelous" he's the man!
The great man speaks the truth again..
"Here's a guy who wants to dictate to another person, and wants to tell you what HE wants to do."
"I think Pacquiao is Right"
"I mean, who are you? Who, are you?? If you want to fight, let's fight. Let's stop all this nonsense" - Marvelous Marvin Hagler

"Marvelous " is the Charles Barkley of boxing: attitude, guts, straightforward, and an ALL TIME GREAT!
Manny the best P4P undisputed champ. Even the retired pros agree. Best believe it!
How can you not like Marvin.
PER ME HAGLER è IL PIù GRANDE PUGILE DI OGNI TEMPO!! FOREVER MARVELOUS!!
It's great to see the marvelous one. He was and is a great champion.
I think one of the best discussion topics among true boxing fans is the proper order of ranking between the 4 great fighters mentioned in this clip (alphabetically): Duran, Hagler, Hearns, and Leonard. An arguable case can be made for each one, and there will never be a consensus.

I like Floyd, but he clearly is concerned about Manny because he won't fight him.
All my respect to Marvelous Marvin Hagler!! A No Non Sense Hall of Famer..Who are You? Floyd Mayweather!!!haha..love that line!! : )
Hagler is a legend! Edge of the seat stuff! Brilliant boxer !
You gotta love this guy Hagler. He says it like it is. No BS about anything. Right to the point.
Good to see marvin. Boy O boy what a champion he was!
the best end of story
Marvelous marvin is a class act, as always! wish this were the 80s all over again.
@beniceokay News is that the Pacquiao camp has agreed to unlimited testing. Hagler was a class act then and still is a class act now.
like to see this match, would be one of all time greats, hope it becomes real

@TyroneCrawford I think what Hagler meant was if you gonna place demands on me then I can place demands on you...
@Felixg1979
hmm... Forgot Carlos Monzon perhaps. :-)
Best Ever ! Brillant Atlete ! Thx Full Marvin for those Years
have to agree with all of M. Hagler's comments. wish his reccomendations would come true
My top 3 favorite fighters ever 1.manny pacquiao 2.marvin hagler 3.floyd mayweather jr
Hagler.. yikes, unstoppable heart and will.. great fighter.
THE MARVELOUS ONE!
HAGLER the great one thats a real boxer at heart and with skills

Marvelous Marvin Hagler was my favorite boxer in the 80's. He's right. Mayweather Jr. should stop coming up with excuses & just fight Pacquiao!
Marvelous Marvin is One of The Best All Time!
I agree, Pacquiao is a Warrior, but then again Mayweather is highly skilled.
Hope it happens!
well said there is no need for 6 damn belts thats why no one is interested in another they need just one belt and two at MOST its too crazy right now
@RatardedGenius Hatton was a 140 pounder. Floyd's fight vs De la Hoya was one of the most boring fights ever (on top of Pacquiao vs Mosley). Props for Floyd though for beating Mosley.

The one and only Mr.Hagler !! a true legend.
marvelously said mr hagler
marvelous, one of my all time fav...
well said marvin, you are an honest guy with your opinion.
A true gentleman.
he was such a tough fighter would of been a nightmare to fight him
Marvelous is the best!
A True Warrior!
Marvin Hagler says it all i have nothing to add.
wow!!! its good to see hagler.....
@T74G: ...ABSOLUTELY!
LOL @ arrivederci..
People might not know this after the Leonard robbery, he moved overseas and became an action hero in Italian films; basically the Schwatzenneger of Italy.
I love Hagler he was a force that was not too be messed with! But Manny Beating Floyd just isn't possible! Sorry Marvin!
