I think them being down 2 scores at halftime and then overcoming it was the best thing to happen for them heading into the playoff. It keeps them on edge.

Gus replaced Musburger as best sports announcer. Every game becomes better when he's in the booth. Klatt is excellent too.

Eh, they do, but Chryst doesn't adjust well at all. To him, seemingly, if something works once, it should work every time...even if the opposing defense has changed its scheme to counter what the offense is doing.

@@mattstrathis4328, I completely understand your point. Let's do some chalk talk. Go to 9:24 and pause it. They are in I-formation, Tight Right, Slot Right. Head up, and left of the center, you have two D-line men, and 3 linebackers, and a rolled up corner back. That is 6 defensive players and only 4 available blockers if they run left. If they run right, they have a 4 on 2 blocking advantage up to the middle linebacker, they then option the outside linebacker, and the corner is out of position to make the stop in time. They motion the slot to try to get another blocker over to the left, but it just brings the safety into the box unaccounted for. They should have called a time out when they saw the defensive formation.

I guess they thought they would get Osu leaning on the fake middle handoff to open up the outside. Teams are sometimes able to take advantage of Osu being overaggressive, but they stayed in their gaps and blew this play up.
Last week Michigan tried to go up the middle on 4th and 1 and also got stuffed. That was a wildcat play which gave them an extra blocker.
@@mattstrathis4328 , That is what it looks like. I am just breaking down the one play without the benefit of what OSU did earlier in the game in the same look. OSU may indeed have surprised them.
My original "Good Ole Wisconsin" comment is due to the fact that they are one of a few teams in the country to have ten or more ten win seasons this century, are second in wins to only Ohio State over that same time period, but yet they have no playoff appearances and no Rose Bowl wins. No team has had so many seasons go sour on a single game, or a single play.

Ohio state did all the wrong things u can do in a very important game. But adjusting is even more important and that’s just what they did: pure demonstration of championship caliber football.

LSU beat up on a highly overrated Georgia team that had no business being in the top 5 after losing that home game to unranked South Carolina. Ohio State gave Wisconsin a 2 TD lead into half and held them scoreless the entire 2nd half to win by double digits. That’s what No 1 teams do. Find ways to fight back and win.
Ohio State has a bunch of quality wins, twice defeating No. 8 Wisconsin, winning a home game against No. 10 Penn State and blowing out No. 14 Michigan on the road. Also worth mentioning: All three of Ohio State's nonconference opponents-Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic and Miami-Ohio-ended up playing in their respective conference championship games

Georgia is terrible and had no business being in the top 10. They lost at home to unranked South Carolina. Of course LSU is going to pummel them. Clemson beats up on cupcakes all year, and nearly lost to a basketball school that decided to go for 2 instead of tying the game. Apart from LSU, the SEC is weak. Ohio State has the most top 25 wins in the Nation, and has the best points differential of the top 4 teams against ranked opponents.

Sorry, but that defender was all over him! You can also see blatant pass interference on Wisconsin's defender on Ohio State's last TD! A moot point because it was a TD but a flag should've been thrown. It was blatant pass interference! Point is there were a few bad calls and missed calls on both sides! A football "fan" sees the reality of a game, a "fanatic" looks for reasons and excuses! Ohio State won because they made important halftime adjustments and blew them away in the 2nd half!

Okay the refs tried to hurt the Bucks. Overlooked Wisconsin holding a few dozen times. Good spots for them and bad spots for the Bucks. Fields had the first down on that one first half play as he was on the defender and never touched the ground. This crew will not get a bowl game to mess up.

First half, Buckeyes' Defense stunk, big gaps for Johnathan Taylor, no tackles, so many missed tackles, bad pass defense, bad play calling, and bad coaching for the whole half in ALL ASPECTS. Only 7 PASS attempts and 15 Run attempts! Why?! You can not win big games by such strategy. And, why did Justin Fields try to gain more yards in the first half, surrounded by three Wisconsin defenders, only to have the ball stripped from him. A turn over just a few yards away from Wisconsin's goal line!!! That is utterly STUPID.
The Buckeyes' Defense and Offense were in a coma for the whole first half. Defense was totally absent. Zero points in the 1st quarter and 7 points in the 2nd quarter! Did they think that playing against Wisconsin the 2nd time in weeks will be a walk in the park, no effort, no good plan, overconfident and impotent for a whole half. That is on Ryan Day, Kevin Wilson, and ALL Defense coaches. If they play this way against Clemson, LSU, or Oklahoma, they will be crushed and humiliated badly. I do not think their coaches had any plan for this game, and failed to motivate them to play alert and smart.
Watching Buckeyes' first half play and even the 2nd half, I do not feel good about their chances in the Semi-Final game, regardless of whom they play. That was an extremely impotent and bad performance for a #1 team. They ate the rat poison all week long before this game, and so did the cultist fans, thinking that Wisconsin is a cupcake easy to beat big!
Why is it that they almost always start slow and sleeping on their opponents for first quarter or in this case and Penn State case for the whole first half?!!! That ugly habit will shock them soon enough when they get humiliated big-time in the Semi-Final game. Depressing.
