Nice little setup on this site 👍
always like to see clean & tidy.
Definitely seem like a nice knowledgeable couple of fellas.
Looking forward to the rest of this series - thankyou.
Regards
Tim
What a brilliant pair of blokes
I like these two guys full of skill and so humble
Nice to see a duo that work together and share the same skillset/ mentality on a job. No doubt every job they do is top quality!
Well done Ian & James. Loving this series 👍
Cheers Stanner, it’d be good to see you soon. Any plans to come over this way?
I bought a set of superior levels two years ago. Best levels hands down and with the guarantee its a no brainer. From memory paid nearly £400 including bags and engraving. Used them for everything a level shouldn't be and still straight, plumb and level as the day they where made.
Ahh lovely old trout :) Keep 'em coming.
Nice too see a builder keeping some of the old stuff
waste not want not!
It's great seeing building done properly, thanks guys.
Nice Job, I started of after School as a Brickies Labourer, came to Australia continued, ended up a Chippie. Really enjoyed this series as I do with all SB vids. All the Best from Brisbane Australia.
Love all the content across skill builder.Im an apprentice builder and all the vids have just added to my learning and applied on site, keep it up😎
Loving this series 👌🏼💪🏼. Love bit , I’ve brought you a present........ a knackered router 😟😂😂🧱🧱👍🏽
Keep watching boys that router is now up and running. One loose bolt.
Skill Builder 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
When I got the position of trainee building control surveyor I watched alot of your videos to see it from the builders point of view, keep up with the great content guys!
Great video good to see plenty of mortar going under the dpc looking forward to the next instalment of this build.
Hi skill builder ✋
I have just found your channel. Where has this been all this time?😂 Brilliant, started watching the first episode and now here and enjoying it.
Top job.
All the best
RJM 👍⚒🇬🇧
WELL DONE LADS. NICE WORK. REGARDS .
Two top guys 👍💪
We always use fibolite blocks for the exterior, the render keys into them well and there nice a light
I love your content and nice to see the guys working with a smile.
Nice to see some body bedding the damp course properly 👍👍
The casements are looking good.
What great overall knowledge this man has.
The comment about labour's on their phone made me laugh. I've been painting on a large job for the past 6 weeks. The hours wasted by the builders Labours on phones when the boss isn't around is a joke.
These are fantastic!!! Would love to have these guys working on my house
You couldn't afford the chocolates and trout.
Great video, good job
Looking forward to this series.
Oooooh the Trout 🐟😣😰
He doesn't eat sweet stuff.....ha!😏
Really nice work, skills!
Those SOLA levels look a lot like the Wickes professional spirit levels. I've got a 6ft Wickes spirit level that I've had for years and its lasted really well. I've been more than happy with it.
I am fairly sure that the Wickes level is not made by the company that makes Sola but it would be interesting to find out.
@@SkillBuilder It was the curved vial that caught my eye and reminded me of the ones I was looking at in Wickes the other day.
Talking about flooding, a small development near us broke through an old Victorian brick culvert. This caused the nearby foundation trench to fill up, sides fall in and force a 2 metre deep trench! In the end they had to install a double French Drain, a pump to send the water to a huge soaraway, from there to a holding tank and finally pumped to the rainwater sewer in the street.
Wessex Water basically said they had to put clean water into the sewer and this was they only way.
Good lads.
No beard. Always makes everyone look young again.
Growing a beard is a double edged sword.
Makes you look older but more masculine.
If you shave it off you look younger but weird and chinless
Top lads
Stabila all the way
magic
Who else is going to buy them levels
I've used Stabila for 30 years and don't plan on changing although they do look nice and well made. Good price too for what they are.
Me and my mate were looking at levels at tea break today. I’m a bricklayer so probably not man enough for me but I reckon he’ll go for them as a chippy.
Loving this. Cheers boys.
Where's silly bollocks with his negative comments then? Tosser.
He is coming
Hi bit of a weird questioned..... What paint do you use to paint your windows....as you want to privatise your home whilst building inside......
Thanks.....
Ah cool, I’ll check Superior Levels out and treat myself!
*see’s price*
😬😬😬😬😬 maybe not
thats a great price for a level that will last a life time 4 piece set with engraving £318 bargain!
nice to see good tradesmen that know there game ,well done , your mucks a bit thirsty though james
What’s the music around 3 1/2 mins
Do you find you can fix toilet pan onto tile or better to fix to timber floor then tile around toilet pan. My thought is if you fix to tile as time goes on and people shuffling around on the bog is there a chance of the tile cracking ?
Chris
You do see cracked tiles under w.c pans. I would still put it on the tile but make sure the tile is bedded fully and the pan is fixed with silicone. The screws are cosmetic
Skill Builder, can you explain just how to bed the pan onto the tile, many thanks.
Good
No lintel over the vent ? Good series enjoying it been a fan for a while
I’m a bricky n I use Fatmax levels no problem
Glad to hear it Jack. They can't all be duff but it is worth checking
After checking about 7 1200 fatmax levels there's a reason they're always on offer. Got a Superior, better than Stabila 83. Support British manufacturers you won't be sorry.
One word, mini digger
That is two words. For a dig like that it just isn't worth it. James loves a dig.
Dry for the next week and half ffs what country’s he in
FARGO GEMINI this was filmed a week and a half ago😂
The Brickies skeleton levels look nice, whats the brand pls
Sam it is in the details below the video.
Why is there no reinforcing in the footing?
We don't tend to reinforce domestic foundations in the U.K unless there are tree roots or clay or we are making a ground beam. The idea is to get down to something solid that has never been disturbed in a zillion years. When you look at what is going on top of this concrete it weighs nothing.
@@SkillBuilder thanks for replying.....Here, we dig down to undisturbed ground for the foundation, blinding concrete up to base of footing, the construct the footing say 500mm x 400mm with reinforcing ar the top and bottom connected with ligatures
@@SkillBuilder Is it essential to use reinforcement in clay soil?
@@trainingmentor5027 No but it helps. A lot of people pile it instead.
What the heck is a chippy?
chippy = carpenter, sparks= electrician, Lord. nobleman most reverent = plumber
It’s a place that sells fish and chips😂
Rich Oliveria he’s a “Wood Butcher”
Don’t use the big trowels for anything but footings ,they are evil on your wrists.
Why?
I'm a chippy/General builder.
I've got a 9" trowel that's been worn down abit over the last 5 years.
The old brickies we hire take the piss.
Reckon real blokes should use 11/12".
Even tho the 11/12" they use have worn down to about 7"
So, even tho my trowel is bigger, I'm still a pussy
First!
First
It was a little too much banter. Need more actual construction.
We are trying.
Its a
