Hopefully my 1 viewer appreciates everything I'm doing to get them the best quality!
Haha same here my g. On a good day i reach 3 but goes 1 in a few secs. And is afk 😂😂
You’re lucky, I only have 0.3 viewers
Add me on twitch I’ll help future gaming 93
I dropped u a follow dude, hopefully I can catch ur stream so u can double ur numbers 😏
Took the words right out of my mouth
Describing Transcoding and how it works was worth it's weight in gold. Thank you!
Happy to help! Makes me very happy to hear that.
The advice about the "partial" setting really helped me out a lot. I didn't notice how washed out everything looked. Thanks a lot! :D
You’re welcome!
Not only you provided usefull infos but you also explained them, you have my sub !
Thank you for the sub
good info! Always left these settings to default not really understanding what they do, thanks!
You’re welcome :)
Been struggling with this for a while now, last stream was so blurry and i constantly changed settings and couldnt fix it, i told them next stream i have fixed it...well see today if i managed to do enough research.. thanks for this.🎉❤

Straight to the point thank you !!
You’re welcome
Great explanations, thank you!
You’re welcome!
Thanks for the info!!
You’re welcome!
makes a lot of sense as to why depending on the playback device my resolution tend to get lower automatically sometimes even though I upload at 1080p
Exactly, and that’s actually a good thing.. it prevents the stream from loading.. when streaming to Twitch it’s rare for non-partners to have that option.. streaming at 1080p could be preventing you from growth.. not everyone can watch at 1080p
@@TheFranswahStudio very sound reasoning
glad found this ty
Will give this a go next time I stream for sure
Awesome!
my obs doesnt have partial color range and my colors look a bit weird how do I fix this?
For example if I capture game from my pc I should use full color range only for this game right?
What color setting should I use on Asus tuf capture box? Partial or full?
what about key frames 0=auto? What about rescale output vs output (scaled) resolution?
1664x936 is optimal Output for twitch, for affiliates, if anyone was wandering. GREAT VID TY.
Just a question, does the colour range settings only apply to video capture devices like cameras? Like, if I am streaming my desktop, should I set it to full or partial? Since the game I'm playing doesn't exactly 'specify' a full colour range.
Believe this comes down to your monitor settings - if monitor is displaying in full then games will display in full... but things like browsers typically display in partial
Why does your output screen look different than mine?? I dont have those options
remember, audio is more important. if your viewers cant hear you, then they will leave.
I wanted to stream at 720p60 and ran my stream like that for a year. Switched to 1080p30 and noticed massive performance gains in my stream and gaming experience.
Your PC is certainly not going to get a performance gain from streaming at 1080p.. as far as the viewers experience goes, if you have transcoding then streaming at 1080p is not a bad thing.. but if you don’t.. you’re making your stream less accessible.
@@TheFranswahStudio the frame rate difference saved me so much performance even though the resolution scaled up. I was surprised too, I was expecting it to be the same or slower but it held steady and i didnt get any hitching in-game (which normally happens at 720p60)
@@choppaa4204 sorry didnt realize you said you switched the fps.. does make a fairly big difference
you deserve a lot more subs
Thank you Kode.. that means a lot to me
Nice vid man
Thank you
Watched this last night and today I have 1080p 60fps quality with o% skip or loss. Thank you
i can't see the twitch bitrate link it has an error
Bro your upload speed is crazy fast!!
Fiber life my dude
Fiber life my dude
How do keyframes affect pixelization of the stream?
The '6k cap' on Twitch hasn't existed for many years now. The site only 'recommends' that limit, but you can go higher with no issue. I generally go around 8k without issue; Twitch only cuts you off when you go about 10k.
This is still not enough for quality 1080p and the issue comes in when you don’t have transcoding - higher bitrate is bad without transcoding if you want your stream to be accessible
I agree, it's not enough for stuff like action FPS's, but I just wanted to correct what you mentioned about a hard cap in the video.
Personally, I just scale down to 1664x936 in OBS, it looks good at that scale.
As for transcoding, I almost always have transcoding options appear when I stream at high bitrates, both as Affiliate, and before I reached Affiliate. I dunno, maybe I was lucky in avoiding peak times. But one can always just try the stream for 5 min, and if transcoding doesn't appear for some reason, then switch to lower bitrate.
@@hextree affiliation isn’t the issue - the resources are only permanently available to partners - then it becomes available to non-partners as it is available. Until Twitch announces transcoding for everyone - it’s highly suggested you don’t streamer at high bitrate a.
@@hextree as far as the cap goes - technically there is a cap in what they accept in the ingest servers - you can send them 8-10k bitrate but what will be used as stable bitrate in ingest is what they state the limit is - so realistically the additional bitrate is debatable
@@TheFranswahStudio as I say, across the last couple of years, I have very rarely ever encountered transcoding not being available on my streams. It might be that my streaming times happen to not be at peak traffic. So my recommendation to streamers wouldn't be to 'only stream at lower bitrates', but rather to try at higher bitrates as desired, and only drop to lower ones if transcoding noticeably isn't available. Many non-partners streamers such as myself do manage to get the transcoding consistently.
When I have a game that im trying to stream to twitch open, my download and upload speed drop dramatically. I have fiber optic internet only thing connected to it directly to the router is my pc. when I run a speed test i get my 1gig down and 1 gig up, as soon as i open a game it drops to 3 megs down and maybe 1 meg up. in using a cat6 cable. is their any fix? some one help me
That’s an odd issue - you may check settings for any max/min internet usage in game etc - can’t think what would be causing that off the top
My videos look too dark and can't capture the full image quality in partial.
Correction to 4:01, 4:4:4 is chroma subsampling, and has nothing to do with color range.
10/10
Helpful info, thanks, but I'm still a bit unclear.... My two sources (C920s) should be set to partial, as should the Streamlabs OBS setting? That's how thy are now, but my vods are def washed out vs the live quality. Or did I misunderstand? I'm a new twitch streamer with a decent laptop and 40mbps up speed - I stream live guitar/vocals, not games. Thanks again
The OBS should be set to partial and the source should be as well. Unless, the source itself captures in a full color ramge
@@TheFranswahStudio Thanks... and the C920s don't have anything to indicate that they do capture full color range other than the partial/full option ... no 4x4x4 option you mentioned ... Guess I'll just leave everything at partial like they have been, but would still like to solve the washed out quality of my recordings ... thx again
@@scottypmusic3309 if I’m not wrong the c920 captures in MJPEG and could be set to full
100% watch time from me!
what about for YT streamers?? and thank you my interval was set at 2000 lol wtf
what is B-frame pattern?
What about RUclips streamers? Everything should be covered in this video!!
And while I'm hear, maybe you have a solution to why my vod audio is out of sync with the video? It's weird, because my live stream is in sync (helped by a 250ms offset) and my local recordings are in sync. Why would the twitch vods be out of sync? Thanks for any help you can offer!
I’d have to look into this a bit more
@@TheFranswahStudio You and me both amigo!
@@scottypmusic3309 aside from that I do hope life’s good :)
follow-up: just discovered that in the SLOBS c920 settings it shows the video format as MJPEG ... does that mean settings can go from partial to full?
@@scottypmusic3309 that’s correct!
veri gud totiralas
THIS IS COOL
Thank you homie :)
What software did you use to edit this video?
I use premiere pro
can you help me with 4K Brio Set to Full or Partial ?
It doesn’t say on page specs.. I would assume it’s partial color range if that’s the case.. typically full color range will only be found in top of the line capture cards.
720p??? Explain why we should? because i get transcoding but still always worried about people maybe STILL struggling to watch my streams. I have above well enough net speeds and i run high bitrate also. I don't understand why i should drop a 1080p stream to 720p.
If you are getting transcoding you shouldnt have to worry about the resolution you stream at.. the transcoding is there so viewers can select a resolution that works better for them.. it should be set to auto by default to it will load at the lowerst resolution based on the download the viewer has available at the time.
As I explained in the vid.. you dont need to drop the resolution unless you dont have transcoding.. streaming at 1080p without transcoding makes the stream less accessible for viewers
@@TheFranswahStudio ahh perfect so your only talking about those without Transcoding not everyone. Perfect, thanks for verifying that.
Because some people don't have good internet.
I live in a rural area in the US with a Centurylink monopoly. My internet speed is about 1.5mbps. I don't stream , but most streamers I just can't watch. Too high bandwidth requirements.
@@Nurse_Xochitl this is exactly why - and there is a very large number of viewers with the same issue
I'm trying to set up my first stream and I'm having issues with audio. Would you mind helping me? I will gladly tip you for it, I just really need someone that knows what they're doing
Hey Benny, I dont do any consulting in this way.. I wish you luck with the stream setup.. and youre welcome to join my discord server and ask my community any questions you may have.
@@TheFranswahStudio I appreciate you responding. I actually figured it out haha thank you though! I will Definately join the discord for future
I thought 720 is old-style and dead, I thought due to the upgrades with GPUs and CPUs' it now has to be 1080 for people who have 1080 or better screens?
its about making it accessible to viewers.. streaming at 1080p will require more download from the viewer and oftentimes creates more lag and waiting from the viewer to watch when the stream doesnt have transcoding
@@TheFranswahStudio That make sense in itself, but I don't know anyone who watches gaming videos at 720 other than when using thier phones, not forgetting people are always upgrading so publishing videos at 720 will look even worse over time when more people upgrade to 1440p and 4k screens. Also internet speeds are always getting faster so slow downloads are not as bad a problem as they were.
@@orelanic4178 when it comes to streaming.. im not talking about video publishing or any of the above.. if you want to stream at 1080p go for it.. but without transcoding you are going to limit the users can view your stream.. its just the reality
Some people just don't have good internet, often it's not eve, by their own choice. Good internet may not be available in certain areas.
I live in a rural area in the US with a Centurylink monopoly. My internet speed is about 1.5mbps. I don't stream , but most streamers I just can't watch. Too high bandwidth requirements.
I sometimes have to watch videos in 144p, but usually I watch 360p... at least on RUclips.
my 2 viewers are gonna be so happy
6k bitrate doesn’t seem like enough to make a clear stream depending on the game , I’m having trouble getting bf2042 to look crisp . Dropped to 720p 30fps output and still gets pixelated/not clean when I’m moving
That’s because it isn’t enough bitrate for that much moving parts.. in reality.. 6k is still a little low for true 720p..
For a 1080 60fps stream, Bitrate should be like 18k if I'm not wrong
@@ThomasSilvestrin i just don’t understand how twitch has a capped bitrate of like 6 or 7k but I’m sure there’s people with clear 1080 60fps streams on twitch . Do you think it’s gotta be a 2 pc set up that makes the difference ?
@@EzBakeDubbin For static scenes like a full webcam or a picture, even a 480p stream would look crisp.
Instead with a fast moving scene, nothing can reduce the "pixelation" as I like to call it. Even big streamers with 2 or more pc's setup that stream at 10k bitrate will have this effect.
This has a lot to do with compression, I'll leave you a link to a Tom Scott video that explain very well this subject
ruclips.net/video/r6Rp-uo6HmI/видео.html&ab_channel=TomScott
@@ThomasSilvestrin yup you’re exactly right
It’s crazy how half of this wrong .. starting with bit rate, if you do further research you would know that 6000 is soft cap and 8500 is hard cap
Don't tell me that's your actual download and upload. No way. That's god like
Google Fiber haha
@@TheFranswahStudio piss off. No way that's insane 😱
Me with 1.5mbps: *crying intensifies*
I don't stream, but most streamers I just can't watch because they want to use too high bitrate.
@@ITZJ0K3RGAMES lol yeah just a bit
Can you go faster?
Idk if you’re making a joke or not but unfortunately because the way RUclips is.. this is by far my best video for retention. It’s not that I am fast.. it’s that I edit out all of the repeated or unnecessary details.
Still makes no sense as to why I would go partial in a single PC setup using nvenc? you didn't explain this very well at all.
Any OBS you ever use will be set to partial. OBS itself outputs in Partial. Every source you use will have its own color range that has to be selected correctly
@@TheFranswahStudio You are still not explaining this properly. Yes partial is set as default. But why, on a single PC setup (nvenc2) couldn't we change it to full and the sources to full and it be ok? Why would they even allow this option in the first place if it was wrong to do.
@@OfficialMyMindset I am explaining it fairly clearly.. let me try a different explanation.
Typical TVs/displays are shown in partial therefore producing washed results when output in full. Most browsers and apps won’t playback a full 444 color range correctly and end up washed or overly dark. Therefore it will always be set to Partial. If you DO NOT set the sources to the correct color range they will become either washed or overly dark - if you follow the guidelines mentioned you will get a correct color image, as explained in the video.
Full is typically only set for recording video
@@OfficialMyMindset it’s not wrong to do, some sources have different color ranges.
@@TheFranswahStudio i use nvenc and there is no color range under any of my scource properties. is this specific to video capture device?

Ayyo 🫡 lmk what you think
@@TheFranswahStudio good video as always 👍 subbed since blue snowball equalizer apo days
i use 9k bitrate caus you are allowed to use that on twitch. They just dosen´t tell you that you can! and i get transcoding most of the time. If a Viewer cant Watch in 1080/60 then i dont care cause i want to outout as high as possible to get the best quality.
Not having transcoding is hurting you.. it may seem like having a higher quality is better, but if nobody can watch you without lag.. that high quality is getting seen by nobody.
You can upload a bitrate of 9k but that isn’t really benefiting you in anyway.. it may get you closer to true 1080p but it’s still requiring SO MUCH from your viewers
@@TheFranswahStudio well i dont know it it just us here in sweden or not. But no one has a low internetconnection in this country. So bandwith is a not a problem over here.
@@bast7486 it’s about making it accessible to viewers on Twitch.. I can assure you most can’t view from their mobile devices at 9k bitrate without long load times and lag
@@TheFranswahStudio we have no problem here doing that. Just saying. But i dont have Viewers from the US or any other country that dosent have high speed mobile devices or a fast landline! The only problem i oknow of is if you try and watch 1080p i 60 fps on a chromecast. But well thats a minor problem! :P
@@bast7486 So what you're saying is, you don't want a lot of viewers. xD
Where I live, all I get is 1.5mbps. :
Twitch itself is killing your stream
Twitch does NOT have a maximum bitrate of 6000; that's just what they recommend for non-affiliates.
The problem started when, many new streamers are "GUIDED" to use somebody else settings, this is WRONG. NOT all computers have the same performance and bottlenecking. This is due to different brands and model of internal devices on a PC. The right settings are those when you feel confident with, according to your PC specifications. The video quality "trick" or "Magic" is NOT on your hardware or software or the way new streamers set their PC and software settings "CLONED" as the "RUclipsR" given settings. The problem is, these RUclipsRS, just mention the "BASIC", maybe they "STILL DON'T KNOW" what is the real deal here. The real "DEAL", "TRICK", "MAGIC" of the "BEAUTIFUL LIVE STREAMING" we are looking for, it is NOT on damn RTMP streaming key we use. DON'T USE THAT %^$%^$*&%, change it to HLS Streaming Key, and set the max resolution to 4K, that is not on your streaming software, it is located on your RUclips Live Stream Key. Delete all those crappy KEYs and make a new one. It took me 7 years to find that thing out, watching thousands "BEST SETTINGS FOR STRAMING IN YEAR XXXX", those videos won`t help you, new streamers. GODSPEED!
"Avoid streaming at 1080p all together"
No.
Twitch is gonna die soon, lets talk about streaming on platforms like YT
I agree but people do still stream to Twitch.. that’s why talking about both is valuable.. people see the cons of streaming to Twitch in this video
honestly what keeps twitch alive is the ability to label your content as mature and not have it affect monetization. If RUclips would stop demonetizing for language and content YT would destroy Twitch, but I think it's because YT has such a large child audience that they do this
hopefully the 2 people who watch my videos likes the quality
They will! If not, you’ll enjoy it :)
You are very handsome.
