I am amazed at how advanced recording is. In 2000 I took video of York Minster with a Sony video camera and the sound distorted, I actually think it could be that the sound waves were causing physical vibrations to the recording head. Now with a phone you get fantastic results. I think York minster are the best sounding peal of 12 there is. It's the magic of the prewar tenor and of course you can have a magic sounding peal but if the tower accoustics are crap like Liverpool is then it's such a waste. The York tenor is very low in B flat and it just has a wonderful warm drone about it.
Are these bells not fitted with the usual wooden stays and sliders? Looks to be metal stays and just some kind of retaining bracket on the lower frame on the tenor?
@@dwigley1977 Not really. I have rung there and was expecting more bass and roar. Whilst Redcliffe go better, these are the best twelve in the world for many reasons. The bells have so much hum and therefore beat other twelve’s of the same weight category. Also, the tower these bells are in make them echo like nothing else. Most, if not all ringers would agree that these are better than Redcliffe, by a far mile! Besides, these even won the title as being the best twelve ever!
How did you get let up into the belfry? I’m planning to record my visit to York Minster soon and I’m wondering how on earth you got the permission to go up there, personally I’d love to go up and film in there.
@@taylorwright42 hohoho taylors the 12 bells and the carillon are cast by john taylor some of the carillon bells by taylors eayre and smith the clcok bells are also cast by john taylor and it chimes on the bigger bells the bells are cast in 1925 the carillon bells in 1933 1999 2001 2007 and 2008 the clock bells in 2000 one of the clock bells weighs 60-1-7 the tenor is 59-2-13cwts
Carillons as you know play music as they have a chromatic scale where as change ringing bells can't as they are swung plus use diantoc scales. I fully a appreciate what you are saying. Change ringing is really good to do, very good mental therapy.
سبحان الله العظيم صوت النواقيس والإجراس تقشعر له النفوس يبعث للتامل برحمه الله وخلقه العظيم اصوات اجراس السماء
These bells are so beautiful!

@@dwigley1977 hardly. I find them and Worcester overrated. Nowhere near the boom and growl York has
@@AshleyMonck69 I would agree too!
@@dwigley1977 redcliffe sound almost similar to worcester
The bells are very wonderful!
The 10th has a unique twang to it.
I know, I've came across bells with that rattling sound on one or both sides
maybe that counterweighted clapper?

The Original heavy metal music.....personally prefer carillon as change ringing can get a bit repetitive and monotonous
