We had little to no info about the game then, it was a perfectly plausible speculation at the time
Love the game or hate it, you can’t lie about this scene being one of the best in the game
I think for the majority of people, the spectacle, acting, action, characters and scenes ALL that shit is pretty awesome and enjoyable by itself. But if my ass is coming literally out TLOU Part 1 with that Sarah watch still seared into my brain you best believe I'm strapped in to enjoy the greatest god damn emotional and philosophical roller-coaster this year. To say I was let-down doesn't do justice to my disappointment.

Not that I'm an expert or anything, but one of the really cool reasons why this scene is amazing is because of the suspense you feel for the main character. Traditionally when a main character is in a dangerous situation you never feel tension because you always know they're going to make it out and survive ('plot armor'), but here when you watch this you never feel that same guarantee. Sure there are probably some viewers who can always see through the illusion and have the suspense ruined for them, but its nice to see Naughty Dog really put in the effort directing-wise to keep the audience on edge.

It took too long for me, cutting back to Abby's past at the climate of the story had to be one of the most jarring pacing choice I've ever experienced in a story, it killed all the momentum.
The introduction of lev, the only reason anyone you love is still alive.

What would've been wrong is if he left Ellie to be killed by those nut sacks performing their science experiment that wasn't guaranteed to work. If they new Ellie was their last hope of a cure then they should have found another way, tried other things before resorting to ending her life in hopes of their first idea working. I'd have done exactly what Joel did.

I always kinda sorta figured that this chick would play a large role in the game, considering the entire trailer was focused on her. Plus at the very end you can tell that its about to transition to gameplay. Had no idea that her role would be THAT significant though.
For the first half of the game you play as Ellie, as for the second half you'll play as Abby (woman hanging in the trailer).

@@binladen1413 This could have been so much better if the first one made that moment more significant and made it add to the plot and still achieve the goal of building this world and making every npc come across more significant as opposed to retconning it forcing us to treat that moment alot more differently and pretend it adds to the story, this means we are encouraged to take every little moment with our undivided attention because the retcon leaves us with this level of uncertainty as to what is important and what is not only leaving us confused and asking more questions rather than getting the clear message and point and also makes us care very little as it makes this addition come across random and just added on for the sake of it,

@Luke Eiffe I mean the addition of this characters presence as tacked on or random, it is not an extention of the arc or plot or an extention of a branch of the plot or crucial to it but extends a segment the narrator provided very little significance over and now has caused a retcon and given it a greater precedence over the initial plot making the narrator unreliable and loses the focus of the plot as the game has proven what takes center stage is not as significant and that it can be branched off from anything creating a lack of uncertainty and focus providing no theme or arc and losing focus of the point. This idea of putting emphasis on npcs' faulters because the narration emphasises very little significance in its setup, if the origin is of no significance to the plot then what stem from it will be of no significance, if you make the result significant it results into what I said before and is a poor way to tell a plot. This incident plays off as a punishment and is unreasonable as the alternative is out of character and goes against the rules of the game and character which is to survive, it expects sympathy over an action that was linear and a necessity as opposed to the characters choice such as fighting the fireflies and fits within the character and trumps the idea of actions have consequences as the world states survival is a greater priority, you can argue that it is their to show the cost of survival but this doesn't take centerstage over the theme of the main plot especially when the roots of it is from something that is meaningless and from the perspective of joel which we are enacting they are the enemy, the surgeon served very little purpose considering his presence was used to move the plot along but even without him the same incident would occur, this provides less significance on him as opposed to what could have been the alternative where there was a consequence a cost the stakes were raised his actions were significant to the plot and added to it just like the bosses from gta 4 whilst still being an npc in a dismissive position and it was joels choice rather then a necessity like his choice to kill marlene, imagine her backstory was due to Joels choice of attacking the fireflies causing them to disband making her and her family lose security which results in their death and then she suffers the turmoil, does this not put more weight on her presence and make her more important and significant to the plot than being the daughter of the surgeon which is the sole reason for her revenge rather than emphasising joels actions destroying the fireflies effecting the quality of her life?
Crazy. I was sure the "clip her wings" comment was some twisted punishment for fireflies that abandoned the cause.
My guess is that this is the bit that takes place in seattle because the jackets they're wearing look exactly like the jackets that the person is wearing in the concept art.
The sound when they break her arm is just, it makes my arm hurt just watching.

I actually figured that this would be the "origins" of the villain character for Part 2. I never would've guessed that they'd fuck it up by having you switch sides mid-game and slaughter your favorite characters.

A good product would NEVER and I repeat NEVER be this hated video game movie or whatever. And dont tell me the story is great because is different, thats not enough for it to be good. They tried and failed. Many people liked it and thats fine but as a product its pretty weak due to the story. Nothing more to say. Decent game, amazing enviroments, enjoyable but not even close to one of the best of this year. 6/10 period.

We have now properly got to the stage where games can be classed as proper art. They have always been "art" to me but to the average joe, watching something like this will surely make them realise that they have now ascended from beyond something "kids do" and to a point where the average Netflix viewer will say "i don't want to watch the movie, we can play, we can control the movie". This looks incredible.
