- Today is all about the CAN. No, not the food preservation vessel and certainly not the lavatory! Specifically, we're talking about CAN communication - what a CAN Bus is, how it works on Planet Haltech, and what you can do with it once your Haltech CAN devices are connected to the Haltech CAN network.
Get pocket protectors ready, because things are about to get very nerdy!

Wideband O2, but more importantly this was a very simple and clear explanation of CAN in general. Thanks guys!
You just freaked all the auto elecs out @7:47 with the smoke show next to the ecu 🤣🤣🤣
expensive brown smell vibes
The magic smoke is supposed to stay in the device.
Haltech’s most popular CAN device is the Wideband O2 Controller and rightfully so, they are great. 👍🏻
Hi, i have to thank you. all this content has been so helpful during my build. I also called today to ask a question and it was answered and sorted within minutes. Thanks heaps guys.
Finally...much wanted episode
Some quality work on the animations 👍
Very clear explanation.
Matts such a nerd :P Great video thanks for all the information!
Excellent content thanks 🙏
Got it. A BUS is just like a TRAIN, but gets a bad signal if it's a rear-engined BUS without Arnie to take care of things.
WINNERS ARE GRINNERS! Congratulations to DavidViny, Shiznit304 and John Proulx.

nah i did
@@Shiznit304 Yes.
@@1lowrx you did too:)
Nice thanks!
🏎
Thanks :)
I love the information you guys provide. But could you please explain why you don't have any RB ECUs for auto equipped cars? Thanks.
Thank you very much for the info. Can you make a video on how to setup up different ignition system's? like for example IGN-1A. Thanks
Haltech’s most popular CAN device is the CAN O2 Wideband Controller and if I remember correctly it is mentioned in the clip.
Hi mate and nicd vídeo. Where can I find documentation on the supported OEM CAN bus Halltech ECUs can communicate with? I've looked in the ECU manuals and other things on your website but they don't seem to have a list of supported car brands, like you showed in that drop down list, in the tuning software. Thanks!
WB1 - Single Channel CAN O2 Wideband Controller is the most popular haltech can device. Cheap and easy to setup, even the 2 year old can install it! No joke!
Really looking forward to custom CAN messaging for the Nexus R5.
Same. I messaged them directly and they said that eventually it will be available. So I will be planning the wiring harness accordingly to be able to use an MSEL battery isolator.
Thankyou
The most popular Can device sold is the wideband controller.
Are there terminating resistors on the WB controller or TCA8 thermocouple amplifiers?
surely haltech's most popular CAN device would have to be the ECUs
💪💪
I/O expander, Wideband controller, TPMS, TC Amplifier, OBD2 dongle
What should I do if I’ve got an 90’s Mercedes m104 with jet tonic. I need to swap the ignition and injection systems, but I didn’t find a way to keep vehicles ecu, so all other systems work correctly, like abs and esp
So can you use a Haltech TPMS system with an IC7 (OBD) with a non Haltech ECU on the CAN bus?
I think the most popular Haltech CAN devices is ECU itself )))
Let's say I want to use a Haltech ECU (the Elite 2500 to be exact) but I also want to use an AEM Vehicle Dynamics Module. Will it work on the OBD 2 CAN Bus network or am I shit out of luck?
Please. Please please please, make the keypads available to the Elite 2500. Oh, most popular is the Wideband O2 :)
Can I wire in DBW parts (throttle motor and pedal) in with CAN?
the wideband controller is the most popular can device you guys sell!

Ic7 ! Well that's my favorite anyway haha
Great explanation! Are you represented in South Africa
Thanks! Yes we are. You can see our dealers here: www.haltech.com/dealers/region/africa
U say it must all be on one can bud port but in the software it says u can select both for haltech only products
Haltech most popular CAN device would be the Elite 550 ecu
The haltech ecu is the most popular can device
Question
Can the can bus be used to actuate real loads like relays and or solid state relays for things like transmission control,a/c clutches, fuel pumps and the like?
Also can Can bus deliver analog control? For say boost control, may be even pump volume control?
No, you'd have to have a module that could translate that can signal to digitally switch these outputs
@@dazaspc ah yes, I'm pretty sure (not 100%) that you'd need a can module to translate high/low for standard relays, so not a can bus relay... which would be cool! Canbus can't do analog control it's a digital high or digital low or on/off. If that makes sense?
Will a 750 support an E throttle?
I'm assuming I'm a bit late but would think it would be the wideband.
WB1 - Single Channel CAN O2 Wideband Controller Kit
Haltech Wideband is the most common can devices
One O2 sensor wideband controller.
Please please please integrate kaizen speed relay controllers into the supported haltech devices!!
Wide band controller
The most popular can device is probably the wideband controller
Hello , can one of you electricians help me understand something, at my job we have CAN BUS wires in a pile plugs but I’ve noticed those wires are the same as the rest #12 stranded wire . How? I thought Can high / low wires were special ?
Will the keypad be available for the elite series sometime soon?
We're working on it.
@@haltech please make it happen :) it would increase sales big time! Everyone needs some of these pads for their build!
@@haltech any updates?
Yes any updates??
Will the CAN keypads be available for the Elite series ECU’s anytime soon?
We're working on it.
@@haltech you'll take a lot more of my money once it's ready!
Oooh. Money is good!
@@haltech awesome! I can not wait!
Elite and your CAN keypad please!
We're working on it.
You’re saying you don’t have a lot of issues with communication problems stemming from poor network architecture/termination, is it safe to assume you are using a lower baud rate like 125k then?
I do regularly see communication issues on the CAN networks I work with and they always stem from people violating stub lengths, putting stubs on stubs, usually from putting wye connectors on the diagnostic port (sometimes multiple).
It causes all kinds of strange and intermittent issues that are how I get involved.
The Haltech bus operates at 1Mb
Matt, Is BOB an acronym for "Battery-Operated Boyfriend"? I imagine you use CAN-vwBUS. Next up, twists per inch on your Ethernet cabling ;)
wideband is the most sold device
