Such a legend, and tragic loss. My son loved Linkin Park and I now love Chester and his music. I played Numb at my son's funeral as we left the service. My son died the same way, in 2020. Unfathomable grief is what suicide leaves behind. 💔
My condolences dear Karen.😢❤ I am so sorry for your lost! God bless you and may God, Jesus and The Holy Ghost will give you strength and healings to you and your family and friends. ❤🙏🐑🕊❤
His song Numb is like a story of his childhood when his parents got divorced. You can tell it by the lyrics he was forced to do something he didn’t wanna do
No mention that he was sexually abused as a kid? I mean, the emotions in his music, and his lifelong issues with addictions, probably had something to do with that, no?
Sexual abuse early on leads to substance abuse and othr sorts of personality disorders. People usually don't share about their abuse owning to the uncertainty of how it'll be received or even believed.
Ofc he did. Most ppl become famous when they have a dark past bc they want to prove to the world that they r something. Not some toy that Chester was to the guy was sexually abusing him
Whenever I was upset or in bad mood,I listened to his songs and still listen to them and then I become alright...he saved many people by his songs....I still can't believe he has gone...I always had a dream to go to his live concert...May his soul rest in peace...
Chester and Chris's passing devastated me and still does to this day. The world is a lesser place without them in it. Their talent in their music is what got me through some hard times and still I listen to them to remind myself things get better. I just wish I had some way of thanking them. I keep listening to their music to keep them alive in my heart and soul.

Man writes a song called "Heavy" about dealing with anxiety and depression, gets ripped apart for it by his fans for "betraying the genre" and "selling out", then commits suicide due to anxiety and depression.
DefiantOne184 I really don't think that affected him. Linkin Park has changed their sound so much so them getting hate on changing up their music really wasn't something new. This video failed to mention it as most do, but Chester was also the godfather to Chris and Vicki Cornell's kids. I feel like that was the biggest blow to him (hence why he died on Chris' birthday), but he was probably so torn up about Chris' death the scrutinizing could have gotten to him because he was already in a bad place.
No, that surely hurt him, I mean, some of the tweets/backlash were outright disgusting, but LP has probably been criticised before, musicians being criticised isn't something new at all. I think Chris Cornell's death broke him completely, he couldn't bear to lose him; no wonder he killed himself on Chris's birthday, he was drunk and alone in his home. Also, I love the new album; if we think practically, it's quite normal for a 41 year old singer to not want to scream into the mike anymore, as he did at 20-22. Rock music is energy consuming, and age slows people down, right? Regular people lose their shit at 40, and these guys are touring constantly, composing songs and what not. It's really tragic what happened. I will miss him dearly. :'(
AuroraS 92 Good post. I was abused (sexually) as a young child but it was buried in my psyche and I was successful in my life...until age 40. You cannot run from the pain forever, and I understand and empathize with his torment. I am shattered when abuse steals the lives of people we love. I wonder sometimes if I am strong enough to overcome my past.
I know this sounds mean, but i wish that that was pointed out so fans would feel like crap for dissing on the fact that LP switched genres, and then Chester killed himself. i mean, we had no idea what Chester was going through, and we just HAD to lay into him like that for going to a more poppy sounding sound rather than sticking with the Rock/Rap sound? People are disgusting. most likely, people KNEW he had depression. to rip into him for changing a thing like the GENRE OF MUSIC when depression is SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT, is really petty. Deal with the things that really matter in life, people. like the demons people are facing. be helpful.
I’m bipolar type 2, which is prone to depression, and I painfully relate to everything he’s describing.. He’s an incredible human to be able to be so high functioning despite the excessive depression he felt.. I’m in awe of how much he tried and accomplished in his career and family life.. It’s so sad that he fell down the rabbit hole and couldn’t climb out..

Hybrid Theory was what started off a love of many different alternative styles of music and it also got me through a lot of rough times as a teen...rest easy Chester. You touched more lives in more ways than you will ever know
I remember being a young teen in the 2000's and first hearing and watching "Papercut". I instantly loved Linkin Park and they became a feature in my teens listening to them, now in my 30's I was travelling to see family when news broke out about Chester. I cried, even though I never met him but he was someone to me.
I love how she skipped the part where he was SEXUALLY ABUSED FOR SIX YEARS! Two articles she pointed out was literally about him being sexually abused. The first sentence she quoted is literally from the time he was talking about it. Shows the taboo and sexism aimed against male abuse
Fatima Absolutely I agree with you and it must change. We need better support systems in place for male sex abuse victims. It's more wide spread than people think.
lol but Eminem has sold more records on one album than linking park have in their whole discography. Eminem is the top selling male of the 2000s, the facts are there.@@godofwar007god

This happened nearly half a decade back. But I always come back from time to time to pay my respects. The man didn't even know how much his music inspired and comforted me along with millions of others. Was a real hit to the heart and gut when I read the news. But I couldn't say I was surprised or otherwise, I mean I didn't know the man personally so how could I know what he was dealing with? Rest in Peace, Bennington. You will forever be missed and the music you helped create will forever be in the catalogue of human arts. 🤙🏾
The only "celeb" i cared about.. Died when i had my first mental breakdown because of back-pain and major depression.. That hit hard and just reinforced my own suffering. I always told my friends i wouldve liked to talk to him, because i could truly understand what he was talking about in interviews and like 2 months ago i had a dream where me and him hung out at the barstreet where i usually go and drink. We laughed a lot.. It was a great dream and i felt kinda liberated when i woke up.
I promised myself I wouldn't cry but here I am. Chester's lyrics struck a chord deep within me and pulled me back from suicide many times in my life while I faced down my own demons. It truly felt like we were walking the dark path together through our shared pain and similar experiences. Today I've been without suicidal thoughts for four years. I still draw breath because of Linkin Park's songs. It's heartbreaking that his demons finally won but it was a hard-fought battle from the start. My heart goes out to his wife and kids.
Second only to Jon Davis of Korn in my opinion, Chester connected with me on a personal level and his voice and music helped me and countless others thru hard times. I'm sad no one was there to return the favor for him. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
I take shits more talented than Jonathan Davis. The only remarkable thing about that parasitic piece of shit is how he's managed to build such a successful career off other people's talent. He doesn't play instruments except the bag pipe, he can't sing, his screams sound more like sick dogs being buttfucked than actual screams, all of his songs are about the same fucking thing, and his lyrics are so simple and unremarkable that it reads like a 9th graders poetry day homework.

I grew up listening to linkin park. They helped my get through my teen years. Even as an adult thier older stuff helps me at times. He will be missed.
Lulu Herrera same I cannot take this.....
i listen linkin park from my 2 years when i seek in the tv Chester Bennington is dead i start cry
I don’t remember being as shocked by a singers death as I was when hearing the news that Chester died.
I remember being unable to believe the news. I even thought to myself "this must be some new meme or some other bullshit"
Kurt Cobain who was also murdered.
@@MegKampen you mean he offed himself
The first song ive heard from them was what ive done, thanks to transformers but still he was awesome

Such a legend, and tragic loss. My son loved Linkin Park and I now love Chester and his music. I played Numb at my son's funeral as we left the service. My son died the same way, in 2020. Unfathomable grief is what suicide leaves behind. 💔
Let him rest inn peace...
My condolences dear Karen.😢❤
I am so sorry for your lost!
God bless you and may God, Jesus and The Holy Ghost will give you strength and healings to you and your family and friends.
❤🙏🐑🕊❤
I'm so very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine that kind of grief that must cause. I mourn your son with you 💔 may he rest in eternal peace
I wish you all the best keep your head up and enjoy his memories some time that's all we got God bless you.
This man helped me through my childhood, still breaks my heart that he’s gone.
Rare talent. What a voice!
0:42 they don’t specifically mention it but include a quote x
Sexual abuse early on leads to substance abuse and othr sorts of personality disorders. People usually don't share about their abuse owning to the uncertainty of how it'll be received or even believed.
Ofc he did. Most ppl become famous when they have a dark past bc they want to prove to the world that they r something. Not some toy that Chester was to the guy was sexually abusing him
They did mention childhood abuse but werent specific.
It's implied ......that's called respect. RIP CHESTER ❤PEACE
"Forgetting all the hurt you hid so well, pretending someone else can come save me from myself" that lyric hits soo hard for me.
They killed them
That's what happens when you speak against THE PEDOPHILES.
as an artist myself, I knew his lyrics were raw & real. He suffered so bad, nobody cared enough! He just “made music”.... so so sad!!!! You will always effect me , Chester... thank you!!! The TRUE PEOPLE DID UNDERSTAND YOU ⚡️☄️🌪💫🥀🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you Chester for childhood memories . Thankyou . R.I.P mate .
Did you know Chester too?
Even when you see chester smiling, you can also see the pain and suffering in his eyes..
Doesn't mean he committed suicide. That's what our evil media want to portray to take the heat off of them...
*Legends never die*
But he did lol and yes I get the joke
kiiiiiings never diee
Your right
@@toadfrommario943 this is NOT a joke.
He's still in our hearts.
I don't think that has anything to do with his suicide. He has been depressed for a very long time, and depression kills people.
Deal with the things that really matter in life, people. like the demons people are facing. be helpful.
He wasn't just a legend he was so many things including a man with a big heart ❤️ RIP Chester always will remember him
"When my time comes, forget the wrong that I've done. Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed" ... RIP Chester Bennington #legend
I miss him SO MUCH... He had one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard 😭😭😭😭😭
All those people together have killed chester
He saved so many people but nobody saved him ...
Maxecute yes he saved me to.. I had some dark times always listen.. To my favorite songs *habit an numb* yes. . . That guy was amazing. . Never will be another like him
I agree chester and even shinoda kept me out of dark thoughts. I'd come home feeling terrible and hybrid theory brought me back to the real world
So true.. so many people could relate to his pain. he was so important and is now a true legend
someone killed him
@grassweed soul Oh stop with the conspiracy theory bullshit. Depression is a real issue and it kills people.

I've found myself in some dark places, Linkin Park, Korn, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Creed, all helped immensely. But Crawling and Numb spoke volumes to me, along with Buckcherrys Sorry, and Nine Inch Nails Terrible Lie. I can honestly say that music has saved me from myself countless times.

I miss his voice

It will always be my 2nd favorite song of all time.
Linken Park's music manage to help me overcome my pain and fears alot.
Such a beautiful person. Rest easy my brother you are a hero not a coward. Thank you brother
I love how she skipped the part where he was SEXUALLY ABUSED FOR SIX YEARS! Two articles she pointed out was literally about him being sexually abused. The first sentence she quoted is literally from the time he was talking about it. Shows the taboo and sexism aimed against male abuse
Fatima
Absolutely I agree with you and it must change. We need better support systems in place for male sex abuse victims. It's more wide spread than people think.
Yes, you are so right
we had missed the great collaboration of chester and eminem..
holy shit
I was legit thinking of a collab between Linkin park and eminem or with Green Day when I heard he left us.
Green day yes eminem no he is no where near the league of Chester
lol but Eminem has sold more records on one album than linking park have in their whole discography. Eminem is the top selling male of the 2000s, the facts are there.@@godofwar007god

So much love for this beautiful soul.... your music has helped so many... I hope you’re at peace ♥️
linkin park is one of my most favorite bands with music that i can relate to. songs like, "Figure 09", "Somewhere I Belong", "Easier To Run", "Nobody's Listening", "From The Inside", "Lying From You", "With You", "My Dcmbr", "Runaway", "Hands Held High" and "Iridiscent" are the ones I can relate to... Thank you Chester Bennington for helping me a great deal in high school when I knew I needed it ever since 2007
Whenever I listen to Linkin Park....I feel sad......I start missing the Legend......
Still hard to believe he's gone. I often like to think he's just chilling at home with the wife and kids then the grim reminder of his death sets in. RIP Chester 😢

Been a fan since hybrid theory as an 8-9 year old… but also thought the collab with Jay-Z was so cool I bought the 2 disc version album of it as a local music store and was probably the first album I ever bought with my own money. Thanks for the great music and memories man.

He sang like an ANGLE,
Screamed like a DEMON,

See, all the fame and money can't buy you peace or happiness. R.I.P.
2021 and still miss Chester 🥲❤️
