My first impression of Colorado .... we’d drove all night and arrived at the dunes around 5am, walked up the dunes in the dark and watched the morning come to life all around us! At the time I wondered about the “type” of person who would backpack in the area? Now I know the kind of person!😂😂 great hike 👍 awesome views! Jerry looked like he belonged there !😂
Man… I was going to leave to do this last night and changed my mind to hike with a couple friends closer to home. This video really made me regret that decision. Lol Looks amazing!
I don’t remember the mileage but it took about 4 hours to hike to the campsite from the main dunes parking lot. Hiking through sandy terrain is slow going. :) Cheers!

Haha! It’s a unique place indeed. Mid May is possibly the very best time to visit the Dunes. Thanks Michael!
I know it's a pretty good hike up that way should check out Gold Creek while you're hiking next time
Oh wow! Great video. You captured it well. Those evening shots are out of this world.
The iPhone camera does really well recording the light during the “magic hour” :)
Great vid! What time of year did you visit?
Thanks! It was mid May. A great time to visit: the stream is flowing, it’s not too busy and not too hot! It did get cold at night though.
@@Justin_Hikes Thanks! Booked my permits for may earlier today.
Great shot! Just went there today
Right on Fanglue! The dunes are a special place indeed.
Where is the first campsite? The elevated one, Aspen?

Great video! Where was the first campsite overlooking the dunes? Is that Aspen on the Sand Ramp trail?
How long is that hike to that camp site looks amazing
