This is what the US soccer federation wants. Berhalter's record prior to taking over the team was littered with coaching stints of teams that were decent on defense, but they could not score goals. Ever since the 94' WC in the States, the US Soccer Organization has thrown billions of dollars into it we still suck ass. The only times we done somewhat good, 02' WC in Korea/Japan, the 09' Confederation Cup in South Africa, a first win on German soil (friendly match) a couple of years ago and that's it. I'm a BVB fan, Borussia Dortmund fan since 94'. Over the years I've watched my two boys grow-up and played soccer/football thru the German system. My oldest son reaching the Bayerliga in Bavaria. This Friday evening I will taking my daughter, a 1.5 hrs train ride south to Munich's Olympia Stadium for a Public Viewing of Germany vs Spain game. On paper, Spain is favorite to win. I hoping for a win for Team Germany and I know they could pull it off with smart formations and subs. About 4-5 years I met Niclas Füllkrug after his last game with FC Nuremberg (a 2-0 against TSV Kornburg with Niclas scoring both goals) and I got a picture with him. Conmebol made a lot of the choices you are criticizing. The camera being the all 22 from hand egg has to be the worst. You can't sell a sport if you can't see it on tv
The stadiums are fine. And I’ve seen far worse fields in many previous Copa Anericas. My main gripe is having early games in open stadiums when the sun is at its hottest and doing later games when it’s cooler in closed AC stadiums. Maybe they learned something? Other than that it’s been huge crowds and better atmosphere that when they have the tourney in South America you generally get 10,000 fans unless the host is playing!
I can't believe as a kid I liked him. He's a buffoon and the prototypical Yankee casual fan which with his background is pathetic. Remember when he rooted for Mexico in the world Cup 2018. 🤡
He's not really a good coach. They're also not really a good team. Their game plan was to hack us to shreds and take advantage of the hapless ref. I guess the staff did a good job of scouting the ref. They will be a good team to rest starters against.
@@zilla2nd517 I'm just saying they are pretty horrible. I hope they have a good match against Colombia - but I'm guessing a lot of theatrics and time wasting.
I"m tired of hearing the players aren't good enough. Maybe they aren't the best players, but they were good enough to get out of this group, good enough to not get thrashed by Colombia, good enough to finish better than third in WC Qualifying...
2 of the 3 host nations for '26 can't get out of a group stage. People need to get fired. Failure all across the board. Players need to also be held accountable ....they also wanted Berhalter back.
I think we need to admit that we just aren't as "good" as we think we are...and it is GGG but it's also our defense. If we had a Tim Howard caliber goalie...several of these embarrassments would have been averted. We used to have goalies who were locked down starters in the EPL. Nowadays our goalies can't even get playing time in the Championship. That says A LOT about our ability (or inability) to win close games...
Tac, you are totally right, we need a coach that will elevate this team!! Keep doing what you are doing, appreciate your honest takes, and us fans have your back.
Great video Tac. Rude Canadian here. As much fun as it is to troll USMNT fans as a rival, you all don’t deserve this crap. The region needs US Soccer to grow up. My national team needs you guys to raise the bar competitively and with top level results because if it’s important to US sports media then it becomes important to my country’s sports media and the profile (and expectations) of the CanMNT is raised. Good luck getting Berhalter sacked, I fear that US Soccer will find a way to duck and dodge until the Olympics start and the all seeing eye of US attention turns to something else and GGG slides on through until 2026. In which case I will gleefully troll the zombie march to USMNT irrelevance and a tragic waste of your golden generation.
The sad thing is we've been calling for him to get the sack for several years now... and only now did they finally listen because only now is it TOO obvious to ignore. The real question is, "Will the people in charge learn from their mistakes?" Who knows? And until they do, we'll NEVER reach our full potential.
Why did the goalkeeper not punch that ball with a Uruguay attacker bearing in on him? He didn't even say that he should have done so in his postgame press conference. This team just doesn't do the little things. And they all feel like they have job security as long as Gregg is there to accept this kind of output.

Agree we should move on from Berhalter, but how many times did Turner blast the ball into the upper deck under no pressure, or Musah kill a promising possession with a heavy touch, or McKinnie make the wrong pass? I don’t know if it’s lack of focus, or lack of ability, but that’s half of our problem.
Has anyone sat down and thought about how this might be as good as these players are? Dan Thomas from ESPN put Salazar and Herc on the spot before the tournament started and asked the same thing. Which of these players is world class? It’s a very romantic idea that bringing in Jurgen Klopp is gonna make them play like Liverpool. Besides beat Mexico in the League cup, what else have they done? Finished 3rd last World Cup qualifying behind a struggling Mexico? Really struggled w Jamaica at home? This team has gotten rescued time and time again by Lady Luck and then it didn’t happen in this tournament and everybody is blaming the coach. Maybe this is their ceiling.
Hope I’m wrong but the US federation won’t fire GB. They’re not a private sector operation like the NY Yankees or Dallas cowboys they’re a non profit bureaucracy that doesn’t feel pressure the same way. Bureaucracies avoid actually doing anything radical if at all possible and it will be very costly. They’ll cite statistics showing improvements under GB and the fact time is short before the World Cup. The farthest they might go is to hire a “offensive” advisor to address what Pulisic refers to as the lack of final third quality. The players run this team as much as GB does. The federation will think they actually did something, GB gets embarrassed but not sacked, and the players are happy.
Are the Yankees and Cowboys really the teams you want to use? Brian Cashman has been running the Yankees for more than two decades, and they are going on 15 years without a trip to the series. Jerry Jones stuck with Jason Garrett forever, will probably do the same with Mike McCarthy, and won't give up his own GM duties until he is in a casket.
They are “private”. And just like the NFL that until 2015 operated as a true nonprofit (now has to pay taxes but doesn’t need to disclose) is considered a private entity. And College football coaches are always under the hot seat and those programs are “donor” funded (now NIL in the game). But I don’t see how that should affect anything regrading the USSF and decision making in regards to coaching etc. they are just incompetent.
I really enjoy this channel. Felippo, I respect your knowledge and insights, your intro sequence is really cool. Speaking to you as a friend, The next step, to grow your channel in the lead up to the World Cup is to create a professional looking set for your videos. Love the content though!
We've suffered through Berhalter ball long enough and it's long time overdue for a change. I want a reason to be excited about US Soccer again; to see a team with grit and feel like we can still surprise and steal a result from a top world team like in years' past.
I can suggest a replacement: Thomas Christiansen. He'd be affordable, he can get a team to punch above its weight (as he keeps demonstrating against us), and it would be realistic that the USMNT could get him within CONCACAF. Poaching from their neighbors is how Bayern is (usually) successful in Germany.
Im so glad you called out the media for backing Berhalter. I was so disappointed in their takes especially after the WC debacle. I lost all respect for those commentators since then. You were one of the few who stayed consistent and proven right about GGG. I continue to support your channel ever since. Keep rockin it steady.
I think Total Soccer Show said it best. Gregg is one of the problems, but not the biggest problem. There is a lot more to it than just Gregg. I don't think many coaches can get THAT much more out of these players though. Our player pool is far more average than people think.
Tac, I was intimately involved with the ODP program back in the day and got an eye full. As far as I can tell, the same old nepotism is malfunctioning inside the US Soccer Federation. This story is as old as organized soccer in this country and won't change until we stop spending our $$ for a crappy product.
@@tripperdelaluna1 A victory over Venezuela and a strong showing in a loss to Argentina and a respectable 3rd place game showing and I'm a happy Canadian satisfied with their COPA debut.
I was always ambivalent about Berhalter. Honestly I’m more disappointed in the performance of the players. Together they are just less than the sum of the parts. But we unambiguously need a change of direction and Berhalter is part of that.
Consistently Playing your best players out of their strongest positions is just stupidity or arrogance. Also trying to cram the available talent into a tactical scheme that is elementary at best and doesn't play to the strengths of your players. Whether simple minded or hard headed, it's the coach. Even the best players will not thrive in this type of soccer.
But those parts have progressed and all have earned spots in clubs in good leagues. So e of them thriving!!! Something’s amiss! Yeah I’m not defending these players. They lack heart, grit and focus. Oh…..but wait…. all those things can be corrected by a real coach. Hmmm 🤔
@@flockoturtles National team manager is different from youth soccer coach, but I won’t fundamentally disagree. Berhalter has not handled tactical decisions well on numerous occasions. But many players have flat out under performed with the national team too. Need a fresh restart.
If you have the opportunity in the USA: watch the Euro match Austria against Turkey now (9:00 pm Central European time, so in about 40 minutes). I guarantee one hell of a game.
PAY-FOR-PLAY for a sport that never rewards college scholarships! THAT IS THE BIGGEST ISSUE. I have kids who played club soccer and AAU basketball. Soccer was extremely expensive and the ones that can afford stayed until highschool. In basketball, travel teams get players even from playgrounds, middle schools. Recruiting the very best COZ THE SPORT IS CHEAP!!! And it rewards them better for college easily. Now you see the difference and why will continue to SUCK.
I have been watching this team consistently since 1990, and if they do not replace Berhalter, I am VERY VERY tempted to not watch them until things change
How long have you been watching US soccer? This is the most underachieving team…since the one that didn’t qualify for the WC. Did you see when we beat Spain (literally the best) in conference cup back in 2009???? With less talent and depth I might add. Now we can’t even play with Panama and T&T!!!!!!
I think one of the lessons we have learned here is that we should stop calling this group the "Golden Generation." Let's put an end to this now. I believed that BEFORE this tournament and I believe it even more now. Pulisic may wind up being the best player ever to put on a US shirt, but frankly Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey aren''t far behind. McKinney has yet to prove consistency. Reyna, who may have the best brain for the game of anybody, is still just potential. Talk to me when Dest gets installed as the first choice right back for Barcelona over a 5 year period. At this point he looks like a slicker version of Yedlin. And our goal keeping -- good God! Does anyone on here remember when we had Friedel, Keller, and Howard in our goalkeeping pool AT THE SAME TIME?? Musah and Weah are fast, but so was Joe Max Moore. Aside from Pulisic, could any of our players be a first choice starters for Spain, Germany, Portugal, the Dutch -- or even more disheartening, Belgium? We forget that Robinson and Balogun are basically England national team rejects, talented as they may be. Robinson has reached his ceiling, and yeah he is our first choice starter, but there it is. And our coaching!!! I watch the Eastern European sides -- Slovenia, Slovakia, Romania -- with less talent player for player and make the Big Boys VERY nervous with their organizational coherence and hard as nails mentality. We, in contrast, get stupid red cards against powerhouses like Panama and T&T. Hilariously pathetic. As Filippo is a professional hater, I am a professional pessimist. I think we have been deceiving ourselves about the overall quality of this group, and have thought "Oh, if just had another coach, we'd be world beaters." Well, we certainly WON"T be world beaters if there is not regime change, and it would help if it is the right regime, but if there is? A lot of our players need to look in the mirror and decide, "I am going to be a kick A$$ player every minute of training, every team I am on, every game I play. I am going to ruthlessly address my weaknesses every single day." Until we see that from every player in the pool, we are a "Fool's Gold Generation."
I learned you shouldn’t start a midfield of a disinterested, overweight player, a player who hasn’t played in 1.5 years, and one who rides pine. Maybe one, but not all three. Perhaps that bench of three regular starters in good leagues who want to prove themselves could help.
Cindy Parlow Cone’s USSF priorities seem to be focused on maintaining the status quo for the US men’s national team, rather than striving for excellence and rivaling top nations like Argentina. This approach may be driven by her desire to prioritize gender parity in salaries, as improving the men’s team could potentially divert resources and attention away from the women’s team. Hopefully she will soon see that this approach is untenable and counterproductive to her own priorities.
I still blame Tim Weah with that stupid red card he picked up in Panama. I Guarantee that if he didn’t pick up that stupid red, I think we would have had a good chance to beat them and we wouldn’t have been in the must win position against a team like Uruguay. I’m realistic, I knew we weren’t winning the tournament but having a deep run would have been nice 🙄
I think even the federation has had enough. The fact that Crocker released a statement already leads me to think they will really make a change. What a crummy, shitty, depressing state of affairs less than two years from the most important event in US Soccer's history. There is no enthusiasm or optimism around this team in the lead up to 2026 and that will have financial repercussions which is something that's finally dawning on the federation as illustrated by Crocker's statement. Hopefully the bleakness of the current scenario will open the way for a good manager who will maximize the talent we have. I say Hugo Perez or possibly Wilfred Nancy if budget constraints are an issue.
The players have to get their club situations together. Stop worrying about who plays Champions League, or who will pay you the top salary. Find a mid-level team that views you as a solid starter or better in their system and go to work on your game. The difference between guys who are in good situations with their club(Pulisic, Robinson, etc.) and those who aren't(Reyna, McKennie, Weah) was night and day. These guys need to be on the field for the next two years to be at the top of their game come the World Cup.
@@williamcross210 He has been deeply unhappy that the club is selling him rather than extending him after his bounce back season. It affected his performance the last few games of the Serie A season, and is clearly still weighing on his mind.
This was literally a mini world cup preview. If we don't show any ambition to get a good international coach (now or within next year with possibly BJ taking over interim again) then the same thing will happen. Can't have him on another cycle and expect anything greater. Well go dominate concacaf again and hide our weaknesses and same thing again 2026
Just like how Dest was the scapegoat last year. Seems to be a pattern. Red cards, discipline, lack of focus, etc etc. and USSF finger pointing while ignoring the problem. It’s tidicylous.
I won't say we don't need a new manager. But I also the problems are much deeper. This team is horribly overrated from a talent perspective - we literally have no one who would probably crack the top 5-8 at their position, let alone probably the top 11-15 in the world. We are a mid-table nation wise. And its not surprising when you think that for many of these other countries, soccer is their sport. Where for most people growing up in the US, its what... 4th? (Football, basketball, baseball, soccer, hockey). Maybe 3rd at best? It sucks to say but we are a midtable talent - not a title contender. And while a new manager maybe makes the soccer more appealing - that's not changing anytime soon. We have no consistent performer. We have no "dog" whose going to demand professionalism and performance from the rest of the team. We have a manager who deserves to be sacked - yes. but we have a roster of players who - frankly - can't be bothered on a consistent basis to put in the work and effort you'd like to see of a group representing a nation. Sacking a manager doesn't inherently change that. That's taking a pain pill to treat pain caused by a tumor. This team is what I have thought it was for a long time - rudderless and lacking. We have a 35 year old center back no one can beat out, another center back who looked absolutely petrified much of the competition anytime the ball came near him, a goal keeper who might as well have four hands instead of two hands and two feet, one of our best players came in as overweight as I am - our striking options included a injured Championship striker, a super sub in what the Eredivisie and a guy who didn't play a ton for a bigger club in France than he had previously and our best defensive midfielder isn't fit physically and doesn't look the same as a few years ago. Again. It's perfectly fine that Berhalter gets sacked. Never really should have been brought back despite the accomplishments because it was clear he reached his ceiling of what he was capable of doing. My point is simply this... a manager alone isn't going to change anything. Maybe the soccer's more fun to watch or the press conferences are easier to listen to. So I guess that's a change. But making a change to make a change almost never works in competitive sports. How are we building back line depth? How are we holding players accountable for showing up out of shape or having discipline issues? How are we helping them find clubs overseas that they'll play at so they're in good form and at a high enough level of help their development. How much more can the federation do to try to grow the game domestically? Firing Berhalter is fine. Deserved even. Doesn't change he was successful for a time but whatever momentum he once had is clearly gone. But if that's the "plan". Fire a manager and hire a new one. Then NOTHING gets better for US soccer besides the window dressing. If we show up with the same 11 but a different manager I expect the same results. This team is not good enough. Gregg was not good enough. Firing one and doing nothing about the other? Well, that might make people happy but in the long run? Probably leads to very few different results.
Sacrificing the potential of access or future sponsorships in something you've invested to much time and effort in is virtuous in the true sense of the word. I'm here for it, dude. I, for one, agree with all your points as well. The only thing that worries me is that whatever money we pay Timmy we also have to pay Suzie cuz we have to continue the charade that her trophies matter equally as much even in light of the fact that she can't even beat Timmy's little brother.
Don’t just fire Berhalter. Find a non-American coach with real chops and gravitas. Find someone from a premier soccer culture. Pay him $20M plus a $10M bonus for making a WC semifinal.

For me, x-Gi from the Jersey Shore living in Germany since 93', I totally agree with you from the atmosphere to the pitch to the broadcast teams we suck balls. Niclas went onto to Bremen, then to Dortmund and the German National team. Happy 4th to you and your family. Servus aus Bayern. Auf gehts Deutschland, auf gehts!

He's not really a good coach. They're also not really a good team. Their game plan was to hack us to shreds and take advantage of the hapless ref.
I guess the staff did a good job of scouting the ref.

Still can’t believe berhalter distracting his team that Bolivia and Panama are tied WHILE A FREE KICK IS GOING AGAINST THEM
Absolutely disgraceful!
2 of the 3 host nations for '26 can't get out of a group stage. People need to get fired. Failure all across the board. Players need to also be held accountable ....they also wanted Berhalter back.
I was at the game and after the stadium was chanting fire Greg
Was it loud???
Keep up the good work, Tac
Should’ve been sacked as soon as the final whistle blew! WTF is there to deliberate about! Do the right thing USSF!
Soft players and a tissue soft daddy named GGG. We need a strong grinta coach that will instill that into the team.
Much respect man! Your passion is contagious!

Fire Gregg Berhalter now Dear Filippo he has the lack of team discipline and great mentality.
“Furious but not surprised” is probably the perfect way to put it. This federation is not serious about anything. GGG has to go.
What’s Canada doing differently as a fed compared to the USSF?
The sad thing is we've been calling for him to get the sack for several years now... and only now did they finally listen because only now is it TOO obvious to ignore. The real question is, "Will the people in charge learn from their mistakes?" Who knows? And until they do, we'll NEVER reach our full potential.
Thank you for everything you do and your honest assessments. This captures the spirit of the fan base!
Why did the goalkeeper not punch that ball with a Uruguay attacker bearing in on him? He didn't even say that he should have done so in his postgame press conference. This team just doesn't do the little things. And they all feel like they have job security as long as Gregg is there to accept this kind of output.
Great video Tac!!!!
Why didn't matt turner catch that ball? Instead he bounces it off gifting uruguay a goal
Haha... Why i didn´t became a rocket scientist... That´s Football, is the simple answer.
Because he is not that good. He is not an athletic goalkeeper. Howard has more athleticism in his sphincter than Matt has in his entire body!

Subscribed! Keep doing what you’re doing sir. Change needs to happen. We’ve got two years for Pepi or Klopp to get us organized and reinvigorated.
Great video 👍
Gregg scoreboard watching needs to be the nail in the coffin
It's normal in tournaments. I'm not sure why everyone is making a big deal out of it.

Bravo. More vids like this :)
Fuck you idiot,FIRED GREGG AND YOU ARE FIRED!!!
Thank you! Thank you Tac for ‘falling on the sword’ for all of the USMNT fans! ❤🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
Well said.
All US fans should have this much passion and intensity for the game ! US soccer must be better.
Beyond the coach this team desperately needs a GK with feet, a CB with feet, and a dangerous winger to replace Weah.
Hey man, I remember your take on Canada. Love the video, but maybe you will learn something more about Canada watching them play in the quarterfinals
I think Total Soccer Show said it best. Gregg is one of the problems, but not the biggest problem. There is a lot more to it than just Gregg. I don't think many coaches can get THAT much more out of these players though. Our player pool is far more average than people think.
It's stalled a bit since Klinsmann left.
I love you channel. Thanks for the passion and I agree you prove those other press guys who made excuses for Berhalter.
You said what we were all thinking. Thank you.
Hate often turns players into a team because they have a common enemy.
GGG did not want to show our secret weapons. Saving it for the World Cup. Strategic moves. Not for common people to understand. Very impressive.
Tac, I was intimately involved with the ODP program back in the day and got an eye full. As far as I can tell, the same old nepotism is malfunctioning inside the US Soccer Federation. This story is as old as organized soccer in this country and won't change until we stop spending our $$ for a crappy product.

I was always ambivalent about Berhalter. Honestly I’m more disappointed in the performance of the players. Together they are just less than the sum of the parts. But we unambiguously need a change of direction and Berhalter is part of that.
Speaking as a coach, if the team is less than the sum of the parts, it is the coach's fault.
They fired Klinsmann for less 😂
If you have the opportunity in the USA: watch the Euro match Austria against Turkey now (9:00 pm Central European time, so in about 40 minutes). I guarantee one hell of a game.
I didn’t have an Amber Heard “sh!t the bed” reference on my bingo card for today, but here we are. 😂
Great content, you say it like it is
That’s what I’m saying . They can play with the best, now we just have to beat the best
Who so gloom guys? You won the last 3 consecutive Nations Leagues! Undisputed Kings of CONCACAF! So happy for all you accomplished 🎉🎉🙌🏼🙌🏼
I wish I could be as bad at Gregg at my job and still keep it.
So how do you really feel Filippo😅
I learned you shouldn’t start a midfield of a disinterested, overweight player, a player who hasn’t played in 1.5 years, and one who rides pine. Maybe one, but not all three. Perhaps that bench of three regular starters in good leagues who want to prove themselves could help.
We learned that the VAR is not really working yet!
#Berhalterout been a hastag!! Been right there with you Filippo
I learned that even the mighty Cannibal Corpse is inadequate for the rage I feel after these last two games.
I think that is why Brian McBride left…. He is not soft…maybe get him as the CEO
Why does the COPA America have to be reviewed? Were they not watching?
The players have to get their club situations together. Stop worrying about who plays Champions League, or who will pay you the top salary. Find a mid-level team that views you as a solid starter or better in their system and go to work on your game.
The difference between guys who are in good situations with their club(Pulisic, Robinson, etc.) and those who aren't(Reyna, McKennie, Weah) was night and day. These guys need to be on the field for the next two years to be at the top of their game come the World Cup.
McKennie started most of the season at Juventus and was one of the best midfielders in Serie A
@@williamcross210 He has been deeply unhappy that the club is selling him rather than extending him after his bounce back season.
Uruguay always send the home team fishing. History repeat again
Prime Jozy Altidore would walk into this starting line up. How is this the golden generation????
Jozy was a pretty good player, and there is more than one position on a team
None of the USMNT players right now are in their prime yet. Therefore it's not a fair comparison.
Gregg is their poster child, he'll never be touched.
You are 100% correct i was always against beerholder
Weah screwed us. Ironically, that will also be the reason GGG keeps his job - thru 2026 WC
It's an excuse for the federation but we went up 1-0 after the red and were the better team until we decided to bunker for 50 minutes in the 2nd half
Just like how Dest was the scapegoat last year. Seems to be a pattern. Red cards, discipline, lack of focus, etc etc. and USSF finger pointing while ignoring the problem. It’s tidicylous.
I am not gonna get fired. Deal with it
Sad but true
yeah, you are going to resign.
Give him 10 yrs contract.USA are never gonna be a top team.a good hardworking one yes.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂 good you are a great coach greetings from Canada huge fan of you sir
As the saying goes, "Never change a winning game; always change a losing one!"
If the USMNT doesn't take a chance on a new coach, we'll always wonder how this team, full of great players, could achieve more!
