Additionally, depending on the location of your modem. Companies sell dimming stickers to tone down the glare and that angry blinking of the cable modem. Also, to cover the rear ethernet LED. Why they put on on the back is beyond me.
Does this work with any other antenna or is there a specific antenna compatible with the modern??? Commenting this question from Nigeria when we use cellular network
Can you still recommend this modem in 2024 any issues so far? I just got the arries S33 yesterday from Best Buy and not sure if i make the right decision also any experience with NETGEAR Nighthawk CM2000 ? I have Cox internet cable with 1GIG ? Thanks
So even if your ISP goes up to 1GBPS or more the 2.5 gbps port is throttled by the COAX cable's max 1GBPS speed. Wouldn't you get the same performance if it was just a 1GBPS port?
Do not buy this modem if your ISP is Xfinity! Numerous people having issues with frequent dropped service and Motorola and Xfinity are both blaming each other while their customers suffer.
@@faridaalieva2241 Motorola sent me a replacement MB8611 modem and it did the exact same thing. The easy solution for me was to buy a Netgear CM2000 modem and it has worked flawlessly.
Very well done video, informative and detailed.

Very interesting video! We don’t have cable in Italy just fiber or copper. Either gpon (xgspon rare) or vdsl 2
Your lucky to have fiber. I'm still on coaxial. Damn Comcast for having a monopoly in my area.
Hello. Is the green Ethernet LED suppose to blink all the time? My Ethernet connection signals are rock solid.
Mine does.
Did you upgrade from the SB8200? I'm looking to upgrade from that one.
Yes. That's the exact upgrade I did.
Awesome, thanks to your video I just went out and bought one. Doubled my download rate!
Have you encountered any excessive heat with this modem, requiring a fan?
no
Yep, Internet would occasionally start flapping/losing signal/whatever. Finally put a small fan on it full time and all my issues went away.
How do you like the Motorola Modem compared to the Arris Surfboard SB8200?
So far I haven't had to reset it. It just runs and runs.

I haven't tried the CM2000, but I did try the CAX80. They're all okay. All modems die. The S33 is a good modem. Don't worry about it.
@@distractor_beamreviews thanks for your fast response much appreciated!
Tried to upgrade to 2 GBps on Xfinity with this modem, from 1 GB, and it doesn’t work 😅
Been using the sb8200. Wanting to switch to the Motorola. Allot of customer report issues though is what is stopping me.
Don't get it
What is the reason this Motorola MB8611 is so cheap compared at the Netgear nighthawk CM2000? Which one is better?
internally they're identical, plastic housing is the only difference

Wait, how do you connect your wifi device(s) to the internet if there's no wifi built-in to the cable modem? sorry i'm new to all this.
You'll want a wifi router. If you want a modem that's also a router, then you'll want an "all-in-one".
Plug this modem into a capable router that offers WiFi connectivity.
Does this actually work with a 2.5GB switch???
You'd want a router. A switch by itself won't work.
@@distractor_beamreviews Show me a router with a 2.5GB port that works with a 2.5gb switch.
@@54carlje Here's the latest from Netgear: www.netgear.com/home/wifi/mesh/rbke963b/ The correct answer is pfsense.
@@distractor_beamreviews Have you tested that model? Could you make a video with that model and a 2.5gb switch?
Bought one in Dec 2022. Dies May 2023, Motorola RMA . New on arrives,. works well until this morning. BRICK
The box says 2 year warranty
Great video. My only complaint is, being from Texas, you speak too fast for my southern ears!
You can slow the video down
You do have a problem if you're from Texas.
No wonder Texas needs guns in order to keep up with speed.
What the heck you swearing

Yes I got same problem
What did you do?
