J-Live deserved more love than he got. The Best Part is a classic album, we waited a long time for it to drop. Wax Paper is a good track, but Them That’s Not is a masterpiece.

Them That's Not is an easier song to grasp and Live's flow is legendary on that one. Worth a reaction.

Both are masterpieces, and several others on the album

He was describing DJing in the first half ("wax") and MC/lyricism in second half ("paper"). J-live was a DJ first and then turned to emceeing later.

J Live made some late classics, real quality music.
I remember reading he was an english teacher in brooklyn. It deffo shows in his rhymes.
Check his All of the Above album from start to finish also, is a sweet experience.

I stumbled onto you page and I'm glad I did. I'm from the older era that you review and I love the picks that were suggested to you. I also host a Hip Hop radio show in Chicago and play a lot of the music and give the back story of it because I was there for it when it unfolded.
In November of last year you reviewed "Self Destruction" by the top East Coast MCs of that era. Well, the West Coast MCs of the same era made there own version of a peace anthem titled "We're All In The Same Gang". I think you will enjoy reviewing it too.
Keep up the good work and if you want some more suggestions, I'm your guy to hit.

Nice reaction! J-Live (from NY) is another overlooked & underrated emcee, DJ, producer in the game. Another dope track from him is The Great Live Caper ft J Rawls.

I think J-Live is telling a story about twins (Nique and Malik). The story sounds like it's detailing how one brother kept on wanting to kill everyone, and the other wanted to change 💯
