It's sad that we are gonna see clones act like stormtroopers, before they all had so much life and personality but now they are gonna be mindless stormtroopers, no emotions no personality, just stormtroopers in clone armor... Sad really
"The Batch get stuck on a desolate moon" Well, Ahsoka crashed on a desolate moon. And Rex is overlooking a crashed star destroyer in the trailer. sooo...
The trailers show a ton of destroyed star destroyers. So it's very likely not the same planet he and Ashoka crashed on.. It's more likely it's Bracca. But I doubt it. Also the star destroyers look waaaay too rusted for something that happened like a week prior
I think the reason Cutt did not react to the order is because he has to be given the command. Just like when Ferren Barr told the troopers that the Inquisitors were previous Jedi. When he said execute order 66, the troopers turned on the Inquisitors
Agreed, since Cut was a deserter and only Rex and Clone Force 99 knew, the Republic military probably assumed he died during that attack on his transport or at least presume MIA. He doesn't have any connection to Republic intelligence broadcast or military communications so he wouldn't have been transmitted the order.
@@captaincoolbreeze9429 The order isn't transmitted, its given verbally. So thats the reason, he didn't get Palpatine's order, or he didn't have the order relayed from another trooper over the radio.
It was great to see Cut Lawquane and his family again after we last saw them in the Clone Wars episode, "The Deserter", even Cut's kids Jek & Shaeeah have all grown up. On top of that, I love Omega's curiosity when she experience Saleucami for the first time ever plus the relationship she has with Hunter. Finally, since we saw a Nexu, this is the second time we had a creature from _Attack of the Clones_ appear on the planet Saleucami the first being the Reek.
I think the scene where Omega takes off her headpiece is an underrated scene. I think it shows how she's leaving her life on Kamino behind and trying to figure out who she is truly. Also, it was weird seeing her hair different after she took the headpiece off.
@@madisonwhovian943 when I was watching the episode it reminded the scene from Tangled Where Rapunzel gets out of the tower and her foot touches on the grass
@@silversurfer8818 I think the order would need to come from the supreme chancellor of the republic, a position that at the time of the bad batch does not exist anymore
but crosshair's chip somehow partly worked without the trigger word? Edit: I just remember tup did the same thing, or maybe just chip acting randomly because of mutation?
Here’s an interesting observation: In legends Jango had a mother and sister with blonde hair. So it’s likely that he may have that as a recessive trait. Which would actually explain why Rex and Omega have blond hair(also it’s been stated they had to stretch his DNA so perhaps some liberties were taken). You wanna know the kicker? They first appeared in Jango Fett: Open season. A legends comics which also featured Jaster Mereel a character mentioned in Mando season 2. I’m probably reaching here but I had to bring it up.
@@diegoch1111 really? I don’t remember that said anywhere in the show. But what about the clone cadets(I strictly remember their was a blonde one in that Boba Fett arc)? I can’t image the Kaminoans would allow that until after they were deployed for the fields.
@@diegoch1111 I wonder why he decided to dye his hair and then shave it off immediately afterwards. Clones have to do strange stuff to stick out from their brothers
cut's chip didn't go off because they are voice activated. Palpatine had to reach out on the comms, (as mentioned in the first episode) to tell them to "execute order 66". Cut didn't have a transponder coded to the military "channel", so he didn't receive the order.
This episode was far calmer than I would have thought. But I like it, having a pause between the immediate danger. Crosshair will most likely be onto them anyway by the next episode, since they made quite a mess on Selucamei. Also it wasn't even a filler, since it still gave much character development to Hunter and Omega.
That's what people misunderstand about about "fillers"; they're not fillers. While they may (or may not) advance the plot, they DO advance character development and explore character interactions. Thus, have a real purpose rather than filling screen time.
@@peterwright5358 True, I agree on all of that. Filler in a derogatory sense is used far to often since people can't seem to keep up their interest in something for 25 minutes if it hasn't explosions left and right, which is sad.
I feel the same way, but it gives me closure to The Clone Wars show. I know the final season depicted order 66, but the bad batch is a new show with the exact same art direction and characters, so in my mind it allowed to “move on” mentally from TCW show.
I don't think Cut's chip would have activated. He wouldn't have technically received the transmission to execute Order 66, so it seems possible he would be unaffected. I've always kind of had this head canon, and these two episodes kind of reinforce that for me.
Oh I completely forgot about the accelarted aging. Yeah, you're right, it would be fun if Omega aged as much over the course of 3-4 seasons as Ahsoka did between Clone Wars and Rebels. And regarding Cut: I would imagine that since he's been a deserter for a long while, he simply never got Order 66 that's why he didn't lose his mind. Also notice how the Bad Batch has been using stunt fire to shoot at Clone Troopers and Hunter changes to live rounds when a trooper takes Omega. Echo and Tech are kind of shocked by this but it looks like they've made the final decision to cut ties with the other clones.
I think Cut just didnt get the order, the Bad Batch mentioned hearing Order 66 being transmitted in the first episode so it seems like every clone tuned in heard it
I agree. The order would only have been going through military channels so cut wouldn't have heard it but its saddening to think he would still be suffering from the nightmares every clone had
spot on. I hate this insistence on the chip. All it did was allow Clone Protocol 66 to be followed. It wouldn't make sense for them to follow it without the chips as they've been best friends through out the war. It doesn't turn them into mindless drones just more susceptible to orders. This obsession about the chip turning them into unthinking drones is stupid and rather idiotic and the chip "activating" is equally stupid. It's always been on just used to allow for orders to be followed quicker than normal civilians.
The order is verbal. Cut didn't have a com and so didn't receive the order from chancellor palpatine, the only one with the authority to give the order.
@@andrewlechner6343 Totally right ! I was wondering why this (sorry) stupid question even came up. I mean... just think a little bit and you have the answer. All the Clones had comlinks and thats how they got the order. Just like you said.
@@lyndsaybrown8471 When clones put their helmets off they always had another comlink at their arm btw. So this means any soldier gets the message even when they dont have their helmets on. I did NOT made this up its actually real. Look at Season 7 were Maul stole one of these comlinks from a clone´s cut of arm. He was able to hear anything they said.
I loved seeing Omega have a moment to take in all that is nature. She has only ever known the sterile world of Kamino and it's rain and seas, of course she doesn't know what dirt is! And I'm sure that she's had all her immunizations, but given that she only ever lived on Kamino, I wouldn't be surprised if we have an episode where she almost dies from getting sick because that just makes sense to me. Think of the Avatar episode "The Blue Spirit" and how Aang has to go get the frogs for Katara and Sokka. The Bad Batch are going to have to do a thing to help cure Omega, but that will have them run into characters that will return in future episodes down the line and/or add some nuances to the main characters. I think it would be fun. When it comes to Cut and his inhibitor chip, is it possible that because he hasn't been in active duty taking orders and fighting a war, his chip just isn't that active? They are organic, and technically neurological in nature, but similar to muscles, if you just don't use them, they won't function as well, so because he has been on his own for so long, it's just not going to function. There's also the whole thing where it may also be a command code word situation where the clones have to hear the words "Order 66" in order for that to activate in them, but I imagine Rex would have mentioned the words and that would have activated Cut. It is very interesting. Also how do Cut and the Bad Batch know each other? How many other clones has this guy had a run in with? It's Star Wars, coincidences happen more often than what should probably be statistically possible, but it's a thing that I now want to know.
@@magykfyre4114 That's also just as interesting. Despite everyone probably knowing some form of first aid as evidenced by Tech and Echo fixing up Wrecker after getting shot, she would in some ways be the most qualified person when it comes to medical attention. We've got a new Kix!
Her reaction was similar to Rey's reaction to seeing the green of nature in TFA after leaving Jakku, a desert planet that she lived on here whole life.
My favorite part of this episode is the re-framing of 'Chain Codes' from something in the Mandalorian that appeared to be a biometric identifier (and the 'chain' part being related to biology and ancestry), and is now more clearly a method of control from the Empire. For me this clearly indicated the 'chain' element in terms of control, subordinance and slavery, and in such a beautifully subtle way (all hail Filoni!). Also, this means that Grogu must have been transported through Imperial authorised conduits, and thus hasn't always been off the radar...
@@kenle2 yeah, so Grogu travelled through Imperial controlled transport at some point and got a chain code. The fact that the client doesn’t have the whole code, I’d assume is down to a simple lack of information on his part.
I like how they portrayed Hunter in this episode. He clearly has strong paternal instincts, even if he doesn’t know what to do with them. It was also interesting to see the strong and aggressive Wrecker instantly fall into the fun uncle role. It is something we have not really seen all that much in the clones other than Cut. In a way, had Anakin not fallen to the dark side, he may have been quite like Hunter - protective and paternalistic, but not quite sure how to go about being a father.
After this episode I feel a little devastated because I grew up with the Clones and watched the Clone Wars movie back in 2008 with a lot of eager. Since then I studied the different characters with much interest and I got in the meanwhile a lot of attachments to the Clones. Today, I saw regular Clones detached from their personal traits and not seeing their faces in any scene made it even heavier for me. Moreover, today I saw Clones killing their brothers and this made me feel bad like in the Umbara arc. Nevertheless, George Lucas had always at least a little spark of hope inserted in every of his works. I do hope that Dave Filoni will make this hope flourish with the Bad Batch and the remaining Clones that we got attached to. May the Force be with you, my fellow Star Wars fans! EDIT: I added the word "regular"
I think we'll probably be seeing more clones having their chips removed as the story goes on. And it is canon that some troopers were allowed to "retire" by the Empire, so there will probably be some more "bittersweet" episodes, like those either choosing not to remove the chips or removing them and still believing in the "cause" they fought for - Jedi purge and all.
In plant genetics, we use gene-constructs which increases cell differentiation, thus increasing growth. Its associated to an miRNA which increases linearly with time - when those levels reaches a certain threshold it deactivates the gene-construct along with its transcription factors and the differentiation normalizes. I would assume the Kaminoans have centuries more experience than we do, and probably uses the same or similar technology.
I figured it might be the case that after they reach a certain age the clone's accelerated aging stops. From the Kaminoian's point if view, why make an army thes only good for half the time of a reguler person? They can get more out of them this way.
@@whispofwords2590 Though if you think about, the sooner the age and become inefficient or die it means that the Kaminoans will get paid to make more troops. Guessing they're being paid by the clone not like a monthly subscription for their services... hard to say
The old white bearded Rebel commando during the battle of Endor is Rex 23 years later and physically 46 years older or about 70 years old physically. So unfortunately I don't think that's going to happen for any other clones. The accelerated aging allows a physical 18 year old in 9 years, but is slow enough combined with flash training to make exceptional soldiers. It also has the benefit of planned obsolescence, old clones that survived long enough to be old enough to become detrimental could return to Kamino as trainers. Unfortunately that didn't work out.
@@jlokison theres nothing saying that or confirming his exact age during that battle though, is there? Besides, clone or not, I dont think a 70 year old would be fighting through the Jungles of Endor without significant issues.
I don't know how to describe it but this episode really had a soothing effect on me. Omega really shined in this episode. And Cut Lawquane as well (I was especially looking forward to seeing his kids again).
It’s important to remember Echo as a former ARC trooper. Like those guys were really elite, Tech’s job is to be the tech guy but Echo can apply his similar abilities in a more combat-y situation.
Yep. Tech can fight well as we saw on Kaller, but Echo has the greater range of experience and isn't as limited by his specialty as Tech is. If nothing else, Echo doesn't assume everyone understands his insights.

@@BlindJedi No, he would give the order to each commander and they would give it to all their troops until every clone has received it. This is how a chain of command works in real life.
im glad they brought back cut and his family I was so happy to see them again, even though they were from 1 episode 11 years ago, lucasfilm animation never forgot about them :')
It's really cool to see the transition period between Republic and Empire. I was looking through Wookieepedia and it turns out that things like Imperial Star Destroyers and TIE Fighters were in service as early as one year after Revenge of the Sith. So by season two, or even before the end of season one, I could imagine the Bad Batch encountering an ISD for the first time.
We also have the Victory Class Star Destroyer which in the EU at least was introduced in the middle of the Clone Wars. From my understanding it's no longer canon but this could be the perfect time to introduce it and fits well with the whole "Victory over the CIS" would be a fitting name for the first Imperial made warship. The Imperial 1 Star Destroyer would come later or we could see an early design commanded by a high ranking Imperial admiral who is testing out the design. Tie fighters on the other hand i can see being introduced in Season 1
I’m in the same boat as you, I absolutely ecstatic that we’re getting to see the transitional period. Also as a side note, I think people forget the Empire only lasted 22-23 years, which isn’t all that long by any means, all the characters we’re seeing could totally be alive by the end of the Empire.
This is just a personal take but the scene when a clone kinda recognizes Cut who is also a clone meant a lot, think about it he saw one of his brothers having a life with a family, not restrained in an army, despite most of them r under control by the order, deep down a part of them just want to break free from this nightmare
I think Cut's chip is still 100% active and I think in order for it to trigger, the clone in question needs to hear the words "Execute Order 66" from Palpatine himself. Meaning that if Cut still has his chip, he could end up getting captured later on and forced to serve the Empire. I think that's exactly what's going to happen, which will subsequently override his free will and agency, an especially tragic fate for someone who's had an actual taste of freedom
I think “Order 66” is a code word that sets off the chips kind of like The Winter Soldier. Since Cut didn’t hear the transmission or get a communication his chip probably didn’t go off
I'm just concerned for the balance. All that child like wonder and joy MUST be gruesomely ripped out of us, toying with us at some point to maintain this emotional balance.
I was cautiously optimistic when the Bad Batch said they had a friend on Saleucami but as soon as the title for the episode came up, I screamed and pumped my fist in the air. It was so amazing to see Cut again and I think it was a great episode.
I believe that Cut's Order 66 command is still dormant. If an officer (clone commander, etc.) gave him a verbal order to "execute Order 66" he would likely fall into compliance. That could make for an interesting plot twist if he this were to happen and he runs into the Bad Batch again.
I always assumed that it was a signal that went out rather than a voice activated command, they've never been super consistent with that but if it were just clones who heard the order than if any of them happened to have their helmet off or didn't have access to a communicator then it wouldn't have activated in them, which just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
@@AshlandLives Well, if you would have listened to Tech then you would know that at the moment order 66 was executed all the comlinks just said "Execute Order 66" so yes it is indeed a verbal command. The question is uterly stupid.
@@AshlandLives Regardless, Cut at this point would've been declared dead. Logically whether it's voice activated or not (I mean why even say "Execute Order 66" if you can just activate them?) one would assume they send the activation to all active clones
Disney: Hey, the mandalorian did really well - do you think we can have a similar storyline where the protagonist take cares of a child? Dave Filoni: ofc!
You act like the mandalorian was the first time. The Clone Wars did it with Ahsoka, and Rebels did it with Ezra. Dave Filoni sure likes surprise child acquisition plotlines
Finally, Star Wars has its first family sitcom! *Hunter:* The hard-working but totally inexperienced single mom who became a parent way to early in her life. *Tech:* The nerdy brother who tells everyone what to do. *Wrecker:* The funny brother who doesn't care about rules but is a bit too much into roughhousing. *Echo:* The buzzkill brother who just repeats everything mom says. *Omega:* The little sister who makes everyone go "aaaaw!" whenever she does anything. *Crosshair:* The deadbeat dad.
Don't think so. The moon showed several crashed star destroyers. Also they're waaay too dusty for a venator that crashed a week or so prior. And why would Rex stay there? The empire is probably all over the wreck at the moment
I feel like canon has pretty firmly set up that the clones need to hear “execute order 66” for the chip to activate. So, it makes sense that Cut hasn’t been affected
the characterization of Tech and Echo is probably my favorite few minutes of star wars since the clone wars. Seeing what was one of my favorite characters since was was 14 or so continue to have a place in this universe is just more than a dream come true and his moments with tech and the infiltration is something I hope we see a lot more
"The clones were numbers and fought to gain a name. Now the people (everyone) want to be identified as numbers." The way they said that in the episode sent shivers down my spine.
I figured that part of what allowed Cut to be a deserter is that his inhibitor chip was flawed in the first place, but even if that isn't the case, he'd have to of heard the command to act out. Maybe Rex did remove it.
I feel like I've seen this story so many times, not just in the Mandalorian. Person (or people) travel with kid, person tries to leave kid behind for their own good, kid gets upset about it, they reconcile and continue to travel together in the end. It's a sensible thing to come up when you're putting a kid in dangerous situations, but the story always plays out exactly the same way, so it's not fun to watch.
Small detail that I really liked. Cut has a grey streak of hair. Since he was probably in one of the earlier batches of clones, it's interesting to see the accelerated aging taking effect. Also I love the sweet sideburns he's rockin'.
@@amanms1999As far as I know, it was proposed for Rogue One that she was a Jedi who escaped order 66 but the idea was scrapped (and that's why she tells Jyn that she must believe in the force or something like that)
@@amanms1999 What the original comment means is that Jyn's mother believed in the Force as a religion and her faith strengthened her connection. They hope that Omega isn't strong enough to be a Jedi but can feel the Force enough to know it exists, kind of like Chirrut Imwe but less fighting and more spiritual.
I just assumed that Cut wouldn't have had his chip activated because he never heard, "Execute Order 66," because he had no way to get the message from Coruscant/The Emperor. If Cut appears in the show again, I half expect him to have his chip activated late (just like the Purge Troopers on Mon Cala in the Vader comic) and be used as a weapon against the Bad Batch and his family.
With the Empire introducing chain codes that may seem harsh on their citizens, it is no different today having our ID. It shows how uncontrolled the Republic was under the previous regime. The Empire offered its citizens the chance of peace, opportunity, and prosperity. Although they didn't treat alien species very well through slavery and human high culture, so I suppose it did have its major flaws.
Yeah, I get the comparison to episode four of The Mandalorian, but I do agree that this feels like a natural conflict for Hunter and co. Assuming a father role isn't easy. If an apparently viable alternative shows up, it's logical a character would think "maybe this kid would be better off with them." We even see Kanan have a similar conflict in Rebels, when he thought there was the possibility of passing Ezra's training onto Luminara Unduli. Considering Cut and his family were established characters in the Clone Wars timeline, it's not surprising they'd turn up in Bad Batch and Hunter would reach the conclusion Omega would be better off with them. Omega exercising her agency in the situation and the way they do wind up back together are still meaningfully different from how things happened in The Mandalorian.
I suppose there are some surface level similarities with the Mandalorian, but honestly I feel nothing like it while I'm watching. It's sort of like how a new hope and the force awakens have similar aspects (a superweapon, a desert planet, a crowded bar scene, etc.) But they're still pretty different once you get past those details, so I have no problem with them.
Kanan & Ezra, Rey & Han, Din & Grogu, now Hunter & Omega. The Disney era of Star Wars has relied heavily on this relationship dynamic to establish the parental type bond between characters.
Makes sense. Older fans, who may now be parents, have someone to relate to, and so do the kids. And it's usually a good source of conflict and narratives in general. You got the old versus the new, and people learning from each other.
I enjoyed it. It was great to catch up with Cut and his family again. "Uncle Wrecker" has to be said more often. Omegas reaction to dirt and a non-sterile/wet environment was just wonderful. The empire requiring, in essence, a passport/ID card system to travel (and to transfer credits to the "new" imperial credits), but asking for it in the public anouncements with a smile makes so much sense, after all why should good upstanding imperial citizens/subject be afraid of this, what have they got to hide? Also i liked the fact that despite echo having the droid/computer input module for his hand he's not going to unlock everything like R2, Chopper, or BB8 did. Also, with regards to the details - during the fire fight the bad batch were aiming/hitting the upper shoulders of the other clones, and as you see them downed you can still see the reg clones moving, showing that they're not aiming for the kill but instead imobalise.... also there was a gonk droid and that makes everything better.
I always assumed that hearing the phrase "Execute order 66" through the clones helmets activated the inhibitor chips function. So Cut would never have heard the order since he wasn't wearing a helmet
I agree Echo and Techs dynamic is fun to watch. Echo being a 501st arc trooper likely would've needed to constantly think on his feet and he active where tech skills are more towards methodical and calculated actions.
The question in my mind is why did the Emperor get rid of the clones and substitute them with human soldiers. I also wonder if this is because the chip can be hacked by someone to change a clone behavior. Finally, I wonder if Tech will have something to do with it. I'm just speculating.
I see Omega more like a little half-sister than a daughter to them. They still have to care for her because she is a minor, but they aren’t really her dads. The way she was brought up to idolize them is more little sibling or niece-like.
There was another canon contradiction in this episode when the Lawquanes leave Saleucami but in an interlude in the Aftermath trilogy in mentions the Lawquanes still living in Saleucami.
My favorite part is something that Omega is on ship and she look at sunset and she crying to look at her model it look exactly look like Cody's armor. 😔
I loved that scene. She's sitting there thinking "I messed up. Are they not going to want me around anymore?" And she takes off the amulet, which is a connection back to Kamino and wondering if she should have left. Feeling homesick and lost. Very human clone. You really want to give her a hug.
This episode was pretty good. I loved seeing cut laqwain again. Seeing Omega just feel the dirt when she steps off the bad batch shuttle was so powerful and really shows that all she ever saw was rain, ocean and white washed clean walls on kamino. Really like how this show is giving the bad batch more depth and emotion than when they where pretty one dimentional characters in the clons wars arc (excluding echo who was already a really great character )Cant wait for episode 3 next week 😀😀😀😀
The difference between Cut and the average clones is that he didn't hear the trigger words, every clone still heard the order. For me that means its like a trigger word, like some people have to caude them to enter a hypnotic state
I adored this episode. I grew up in the 1980s and the Eighties action-adventure vibe the show is giving off is tickling a very special part of my brain. More please.
My guess is that as soon as a clone commander's chip is activated by "execute order 66" it's able to send out a signal to all clone chips within a radius activating them all.
I think Cut’s didn’t go off bevause Clone Troopers need to receive a signal in some way to activate it. Crosshair’s was activated when he was strapped in at Kamino, and most Clone Troopers had to hear “Execute Order 66” in order to perform it. (Rex was the only one to turn on Ahsoka until other clones received the order via radio). Being detached from the army and in no place to hear or receive orders, I doubt Cut ever heard the words ‘Order 66’ and never went off
Headcanon for Cut's chip is that it was just malfunctioning from the beginning. That's why he deserted in the first place. Works until/if they explain it.
I believe they retconned the events of Aftermath by having Cut and his family leave Saleucami before the Empire fully established their rule. I may need to re read but I think the events in that novel took place a few years after this show.
Wait, they did it AGAIN?! Why can’t they just keep with lore that is already established?! Of it happened in a book or comic then they shouldn’t be allowed to change it!
@@animeguy10000000 well Dave and George have always stated that the movies and shows are the canon while the books/comics were just for fun folktales in the Star Wars galaxy maybe they happened that why or maybe they didn’t. Not sure how Disney stands with this pretty sure they stated that the Comics are canon so yeah idk.
I think the reason why Cut didn't respond to the call of Order 66 is that he wasn't wearing a helmet to hear the call given. As for removing the inhibitor chips, let's not forget that Omega is a Medical Assistant, I know a far reach but is it possible? Besides Tech withholding information from the crew, because he assumes they know, there is also Omega that does the same in a way. She has information but has no idea what she should tell them, an example is she knew about the inhibitor chips but didn't say anything but she didn't know of its importance.
No mention in the video of Omega's hair design changing when she takes the forehead medallion off? That's not a small detail. It requires a new design that has to be animated, which costs money, meaning it's a significant change made on purpose by the production team.
Just like the clone whose chip malfunctioned so that he killed the Jedi and led Fives to figure out their existence. I think that Cut's chip also malfunctioned, which allowed him to desert in the first place. I suspect other clones, with defective chips, might show up, since Suu says other "clones" not "clone" had shown up.
Since Cut didn't hear the order, he wouldn't be effected by it. Order 66 was not exaclty public knowledge and I think only Palpetine saying it verbally would make it work.
Cut never received the command, "execute order 66." All the other clones that weren't in a leadership position received the order through their comms, as stated in the first episode. Since Cut didn't have a way to be contacted, he could not receive the order, thus he is still susceptible.
Careful Alex, better hope Mollie doesn't watch this video😂 I'd love to know how the Batch know Cut and Suu to begin with, there's obviously some history there and it wasn't really touched on, not that it really needed to but it would have been cool to see this explained because Cut's such a unique situation and especially given the Batch's tense relations with "regs". Something tells me Hunter nearly got his head blown off by Suu last time they were there lol I think Cut's chip didn't activate because he never heard the words "Execute Order 66", he was out of contact with the Empire so it never triggered for him. The chips are voice activated it seems but it would be interesting if, like Rex, Cut's heightened awareness of who he is and independant thinking gave him some resistance to the chip if it did go off. Regardless I was very happy to see him and his family again, this was just the perfect opportunity to check in on him. I do think leaving his chip in is a risk if they did so hopefully he has that checked out when they're settled Honestly I didn't even register the similarities to The Mandalorian and honestly I'm ok with it. The Bad Batch and Omega is still a unique situation compared to Din and Grogu and as you said, Omega's age and awareness make it far more engaging. Definitely enjoying this story so far

@@happyjohn1656 why are you watching the episode review?
I think the reason Cutt did not react to the order is because he has to be given the command. Just like when Ferren Barr told the troopers that the Inquisitors were previous Jedi. When he said execute order 66, the troopers turned on the Inquisitors
I also think that Rex would have removed Cut’s chip when he visited, further protecting him from the empire
@@theflyinggasmask Yes, it's transmitted verbally. That was implied.
@@captaincoolbreeze9429 My mistake, thought you meant the order was transmitted like wifi or bluetooth to the chip which wouldn't have made sense
Wreaker curling a Gonk Droid was a highlight for me.
I bet you that the Gonk droid enjoys it.
Acklay next please, I love that thing
I think the scene where Omega takes off her headpiece is an underrated scene. I think it shows how she's leaving her life on Kamino behind and trying to figure out who she is truly. Also, it was weird seeing her hair different after she took the headpiece off.
Lowkey though, Hunter is really rocking those civilian clothes.
100% Rambo mode
the scene between Hunter and Omega, where he's telling her to go with Cut and Suu, that really got to me, pulled on those heartstrings
I swear to God for a second when she first saw dirt I thought she was going to have a Disney princess style song sequence!
Lol like that hilarious scene with AP-5
Omega is rapunzel from tangled 😅
I was ready for her to bring out her Disney voice and pet a Nexu while singing it
@@madisonwhovian943 when I was watching the episode it reminded the scene from Tangled Where Rapunzel gets out of the tower and her foot touches on the grass
Someone is definitely going to do a dub of that on RUclips.
Wait for it.
I thought "execute order 66" was a trigger word. Like if you don't hear the words the chip doesn't activate.
That's how I've always thought it worked too
That's a dark storyline for Cut, imagine if he hears those words later - what would he do to his family?
Most of the clones obeyed without hearing it.
Omega is the absolute cutest and she must be protected at all costs. It's rare that we get such an innocent and curious character in Star Wars.
Grogu
Here’s an interesting observation: In legends Jango had a mother and sister with blonde hair. So it’s likely that he may have that as a recessive trait. Which would actually explain why Rex and Omega have blond hair(also it’s been stated they had to stretch his DNA so perhaps some liberties were taken). You wanna know the kicker? They first appeared in Jango Fett: Open season. A legends comics which also featured Jaster Mereel a character mentioned in Mando season 2. I’m probably reaching here but I had to bring it up.
Rex wasn't naturally blond, he dyed his hair
@@diegoch1111 really? I don’t remember that said anywhere in the show. But what about the clone cadets(I strictly remember their was a blonde one in that Boba Fett arc)? I can’t image the Kaminoans would allow that until after they were deployed for the fields.
@@Blazecap Filoni said so in the behind the scenes stuff or commentary on the Clone Wars movie.
I don't think it needs to be Palpatine. It just needs to be a superior.
@@Drace90 Anyone, actually, according to the Vader comics from 2017
This episode was far calmer than I would have thought.
It also taught us more about the empire and potentially put the batch on the trail of Rex who is obviously going to be important
@@azeria1 Exactly, that too.
Seeing clone troopers act as they do now make me sad
They really felt like Stormtroopers from rebels. The transition from the republic to empire is great
And I've noticed, they seem to have lost accuracy
I feel the same way, but it gives me closure to The Clone Wars show. I know the final season depicted order 66, but the bad batch is a new show with the exact same art direction and characters, so in my mind it allowed to “move on” mentally from TCW show.
I don't think Cut's chip would have activated. He wouldn't have technically received the transmission to execute Order 66, so it seems possible he would be unaffected. I've always kind of had this head canon, and these two episodes kind of reinforce that for me.
I always thought the exact same thing.
Perhaps it was damaged or neurologically severed by natural means, which instigated his decision to desert in the first place?
Possibly. This is just one of those things we have to chalk up to interpretation and this is just what makes sense to me.
The animation of Omega broke my heart this episode, so good
Oh I completely forgot about the accelarted aging.
It would have been transmitted through coms channels, not telepathy.
Cut could have suffered a severe enough injury when his company got decimated during the Clone Wars to affect the inhibitor chip.
I like this because if it has to be voice activated, any Clone who didn't have their comm on at the precise moment should be unaffected.
Actually i think the real reason is because when a clone is KIA they are wiped from the republic which would make there chips not work
I loved seeing Omega have a moment to take in all that is nature.
Thats the first thing i tought what about a sickness?
@@magykfyre4114 That's also just as interesting. Despite everyone probably knowing some form of first aid as evidenced by Tech and Echo fixing up Wrecker after getting shot, she would in some ways be the most qualified person when it comes to medical attention. We've got a new Kix!
Her reaction was similar to Rey's reaction to seeing the green of nature in TFA after leaving Jakku, a desert planet that she lived on here whole life.
I love Omega's reaction to Saleucami
My favorite part of this episode is the re-framing of 'Chain Codes' from something in the Mandalorian that appeared to be a biometric identifier (and the 'chain' part being related to biology and ancestry), and is now more clearly a method of control from the Empire. For me this clearly indicated the 'chain' element in terms of control, subordinance and slavery, and in such a beautifully subtle way (all hail Filoni!). Also, this means that Grogu must have been transported through Imperial authorised conduits, and thus hasn't always been off the radar...
Remember the "client" didn't have a complete chain code on Grogu.
"His age? that's all you can give me?"
And last reported position.
My reaction to this episode: WHAT? There’s another episode out already!?
I'll bet there's still 5 more days to go for episode 3
I hope the Clones find a way to reverse their accelerated ageing
For being set in a particularly dark time this show weirdly has a nice sense of wonder, even in the theme song.
@@LLCoolZJ Yeah exactly. You described what I couldn't.
Plot Twist: Cut's family goes off to live a life on Coruscant at Dexter's Diner
Waitress Droid: I got an Order #66 hea'
Cut:...Good soldiers follow orders.
Oh, that's Robot Chicken level LOL.
The little audio adjustment for the other clones gave me such Fallen Order vibes and I loved it
I'm fairly sure clones need to be told "Execute Order 66" to have the chips trigger
So you’re saying Palpatine called up each individual clone? That makes no sense.
@Blind Jedi that’s not what he saying at all. The order is being broadcasted(from what I assume) to all clones not individually.
@@BlindJedi We know he called Cody up personally but otherwise he prolly sent an automated message to clone commanders that they passed down then
Even then it doesn't even have to be Palpatine. Just saying "Execute Order 66" is enough as one surviving Jedi used this to turn clone soldiers against the Inquisitors (since they're all former Jedi)
@@BlindJedi No, he would give the order to each commander and they would give it to all their troops until every clone has received it. This is how a chain of command works in real life.
@@Drace90 I know that, which is why I was making fun of the original concept. Alex constantly makes fun of that idea on this channel.
im glad they brought back cut and his family I was so happy to see them again, even though they were from 1 episode 11 years ago, lucasfilm animation never forgot about them :')
That Cut deep
@@NurseAmamiya ah I see wut u did there
I think Cut's chip is still 100% active and I think in order for it to trigger, the clone in question needs to hear the words "Execute Order 66" from Palpatine himself.
Since Cut didn’t hear the transmission or get a communication his chip probably didn’t go off
I called it! I called it! I knew it!
Also Omega discovering sun and dirt was absolutely adorable
I'm just concerned for the balance. All that child like wonder and joy MUST be gruesomely ripped out of us, toying with us at some point to maintain this emotional balance.
I was cautiously optimistic when the Bad Batch said they had a friend on Saleucami but as soon as the title for the episode came up, I screamed and pumped my fist in the air. It was so amazing to see Cut again and I think it was a great episode.
Omega discovering dirt was wonderful. How much of that is on Kamino?
@Yoda Which I doubt she visited that often.
@Yoda Been there, have you?
Loved this episode, just seeing the characters hang out was a breath of fresh air.
Echo is still my favorite. He's just great. 👍
I believe that Cut's Order 66 command is still dormant. If an officer (clone commander, etc.) gave him a verbal order to "execute Order 66" he would likely fall into compliance. That could make for an interesting plot twist if he this were to happen and he runs into the Bad Batch again.
Cuts wouldn’t go off because he didn’t hear the order. How would the empire contact him?

"It is great to have weekly Star Wars back."
I couldn't agree with something more!
the characterization of Tech and Echo is probably my favorite few minutes of star wars since the clone wars.
Great episode. Omega is becoming an excellent character. I'm really surprised for that.
When 2 episodes of Bad Batch come out in a single week:
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
I have a feeling we wait a week for episode 3. 2 down, 5 days to go I feel it.
I think Cut's trauma during the first battle of Geonosis may have caused his chip to malfunction pretty early on in the war.
Me throughout the episode: "Don't say Order 66. Do NOT say Order 66 you may trigger Cut's chip."
This episode felt exactly like an episode of Star Wars Rebels
Small detail that I really liked. Cut has a grey streak of hair. Since he was probably in one of the earlier batches of clones, it's interesting to see the accelerated aging taking effect. Also I love the sweet sideburns he's rockin'.
If Omega is force sensitive, I hope it’s like Jyn Erso’s mother. Not strong enough to be a Jedi.
Jyn's mom is force sensitive? When was this mentioned? It is in a novel or something
A few possibilities would be a young Din Djarin or the Bridgers even Grogu could be somewhere in this series.
Kanan & Ezra, Rey & Han, Din & Grogu, now Hunter & Omega. The Disney era of Star Wars has relied heavily on this relationship dynamic to establish the parental type bond between characters.
And I approve.
Makes sense. Older fans, who may now be parents, have someone to relate to, and so do the kids. And it's usually a good source of conflict and narratives in general. You got the old versus the new, and people learning from each other.
I mean we already had Anakin & Ashoka before Disney.
Luke & Obi-Wan, Anakin & Qui-gon... Yeah totally new
@@Mike_Papa Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan... though that was really short if we look only at the movies
I think you have to be within a radius for them to activate and Cut was outside of it when Neyo was contacted.
It’s amazing how such nostalgic moments are revisited in such an exciting way
Definitely my favorite Disney plus show
At this point we need to keep the kid far away from Vader, she likes sand(well I’ve being told it’s dirt)😱
My guess would be that the empire doesnt need good expensive soldiers anymore when they can just get cannon fodder from a local planet.
@@TheEnecca also palpatine was afraid they could be turned on him

I see Omega more like a little half-sister than a daughter to them. They still have to care for her because she is a minor, but they aren’t really her dads. The way she was brought up to idolize them is more little sibling or niece-like.
There was another canon contradiction in this episode when the Lawquanes leave Saleucami but in an interlude in the Aftermath trilogy in mentions the Lawquanes still living in Saleucami.
They could've came back once things settled down.
They probably went back
My favorite part is something that Omega is on ship and she look at sunset and she crying to look at her model it look exactly look like Cody's armor. 😔
I loved that scene.
She's sitting there thinking "I messed up. Are they not going to want me around anymore?"
And she takes off the amulet, which is a connection back to Kamino and wondering if she should have left.
I think Palpatine’s voice is what actually set off the chips in the clones’ heads
Because Cut was so far away from Neyo the signal wouldn't have been able to reach him
I think Cut’s didn’t go off bevause Clone Troopers need to receive a signal in some way to activate it.
Echo/Tech is like Sabine
Wrecker is Zeb
Hunter is Canan
Omega is Ezra
Crossheir is the Inquisitors
This is like mashing Mandalorian and Rebels
Read TV tropes.
"Five Man Band" is so common they can fill books about the way it's woven into story after story.
Do we actually know if she has accelerated aging? She could be the same age as Boba or so, maybe a bit younger.
Well she was the last mutated clone so she was born after Hunter, Wrecker, Tech & Crosshair.
I believe they retconned the events of Aftermath by having Cut and his family leave Saleucami before the Empire fully established their rule. I may need to re read but I think the events in that novel took place a few years after this show.
Perhaps they returned once the Empire left?
The shows don't care about book/game/comic Canon now.
isn't the Aftermath books set after Return of the Jedi!!!
Do we know for certain that Omega has accelerated growth? Maybe she’s unaltered like Boba?
It’s only after you mentioned it now that I realised the first time Rey saw rain was in The Last Jedi. Can’t believe I missed that.
Great episode. Thanks for sharing.
Cut never received the command, "execute order 66." All the other clones that weren't in a leadership position received the order through their comms, as stated in the first episode. Since Cut didn't have a way to be contacted, he could not receive the order, thus he is still susceptible.
Your guess was right
Careful Alex, better hope Mollie doesn't watch this video😂
I'd love to know how the Batch know Cut and Suu to begin with, there's obviously some history there and it wasn't really touched on, not that it really needed to but it would have been cool to see this explained because Cut's such a unique situation and especially given the Batch's tense relations with "regs". Something tells me Hunter nearly got his head blown off by Suu last time they were there lol
I think Cut's chip didn't activate because he never heard the words "Execute Order 66", he was out of contact with the Empire so it never triggered for him. The chips are voice activated it seems but it would be interesting if, like Rex, Cut's heightened awareness of who he is and independant thinking gave him some resistance to the chip if it did go off. Regardless I was very happy to see him and his family again, this was just the perfect opportunity to check in on him. I do think leaving his chip in is a risk if they did so hopefully he has that checked out when they're settled
Honestly I didn't even register the similarities to The Mandalorian and honestly I'm ok with it. The Bad Batch and Omega is still a unique situation compared to Din and Grogu and as you said, Omega's age and awareness make it far more engaging. Definitely enjoying this story so far
"Molly would kill me." I could feel her eye twitch from here right before he said this lol
