This is awesome! I have a concert this Sunday and struggled with pizzicato. This really clears up my confusion on how to play this Tambov. Thanks and happy playing!
A nice summary of extended techniques. Both you and Martin Vishnick mine the same areas for your respective dissertations. I would disagree though that example 3a is an extended technique. Really that is something every intermediate to advanced guitarist learns with respect to voicing chords. For example 5, I perform that by using three fingers - one for each string - and the fleshy portion of the fingertips in a brush like/unison/perpendicular fashion. It is a very subtle variation but requires the right hand fingernails to be somewhat short so that they don't get in the way. For those interested in further techniques, I suggest "The Contemporary Guitar" and"Nice Noise".
+jsupe I know the "Contemporary Guitar" but I haven't seen the "Nice Noise." I will check it out. There are a few things shown in a couple videos that I wouldn't label as extended techniques and there are many variations. Thank you for taking the time to write out your comment. -Rob
Robert Lunn Thank you so much. You don’t know how much you helped. I love modern classical guitar music and I wonder how these sounds are made on guitar and makes it a brand new instrument.
It's ... A very important and needed lecture ... I came back again I was looking for Bartok Pizzicato .... thank you for this lesson :)
Oh I am glad you enjoyed it!
Great! Now i can play Seinfeld bass line on my classical guitar

How fast can you play the clarinet sound? Is this doable in fast passages?
+Thinksamuel that would be tough in fast passages. If you want to email me an example I can try it out for you. ralunn34@gmail.com
