      @@Foatizenknechtl how tf are you supposed to play witch? during boss fights there is nothing to spawn mobs with and the base skeletons do jack all. im lvl 24 and act 2 is so unfun. all i can do is just slowly grind the bosses with the bone spears and it feels so bad. like i am winning but it feels unsatisfying because i cant use half my kit.

    How to have an enjoyable time with PoE 2.
    1. Play WASD. The game is designed with that control mode in mind. If you use click to move like in POE1, you are just gimping yourself. If you don't enjoy WASD, try playing with a controller. If you don't enjoy that either, play another game.
    2. Constantly check the shops for good items. You can even get Rare items.
    3. Get "Increased Item Rarity" on items. Even just 10% makes a difference.
    4. Get movement speed, either through boots or passives, or both. Even just 10% makes a difference.
    5. Get attack/cast/skill speed. Even just 10% makes a difference.
    6. Use your auto-attack, it's actually useful.
    7. Stand closer to bosses and just dodge roll/walk behind their attacks. Even if you are a ranged class, you are not supposed to snipe bosses outside of your screen.
    8. Don't forget to level your skills with skill gems.

      He's dodging too early, that's why. The boss' big waveline attack tracks, so you need to wait until he's just firing it off to dodge it.

    I love how tough the game can be. It’s actually a bit scary entering a new zone lol, way more engaging than riding a horse past 300 monsters on my way to a quest objective that’s annoyingly far away

      Until you get good gear and then start one shooting everything.
      I got a great rng on my crossbow at the start of act 3 and now bosses die in 10 seconds so the game is just like PoE 1 we just don't know how to do op builds.

    I'm by no means an expert but I think what some don't understand is that one shot attacks only seem that way because the build lacked enough defense for the encounter. Bosses can go from feeling impossible to easy with a couple extra levels and better stats/gear. The progression wall is real.

      My build had 600 HP, 200 ES, 40% physical damage taken as fire, 50% fire res and Zalmarath's sword attacks still one shot me at full health.

      @@Dreamchime And im a sorcerer in act 3 cruel and I havent died to a boss since act 2. If you are getting one shot then you do not have enough hp. I have gotten hit by attacks I missed the dodge on and always live with 20% hp. Though I will say the silverback gorilla boss is a bitch and will one shot you.

      Today i got into a party with a lvl 47 character killing a lvl 15 boss. That thing was dead by the time i descended into its arena....like, bam bam bam dead. Then again, i solod another boss that seemed hard to do, but i just dodged and spammed skills within melee range although i played caster, and it didn't use its ranged 'instakill'.

      It's partially because everyone wants to build glass cannons then bitch when they shatter like glass. Think about all of these clips Asmon has played and how many people die for stupid reasons and get mad and blame the game... Keep that in mind because those are the people you see posting on the subreddit bitching about the game being too hard or "unfair." It's just stupid people who have been playing modern AAA games and MMOs for years and no longer know how to play a game that doesn't hold your hand and spoon feed you constantly. (I'm sure there are balancing issues. I'm obviously not talking about that)

    ngl the original arpg control scheme where you use mouse for movement feels so outdated now that poe2 has innovated, wasd enables much better control of your position, not to mention it enables faster reaction because instead of having mouse control both movement and attack you split it into keyboard for movement and mouse for attack

      @@Psycorde I'd like to be able to walk in more than 4 directions (ik it's 8) and still be able to press all of my skills.
      Honestly, I'm using my skills so much I don't know how I would manage moving with the same hand on top of that. I can see it with merc where some skills are just ammo swaps.

    The titan boss stabbing attack does more dmg at the end of the animation. Its also a pattern, you gotta stay close to the boss but not too close. There are heaps of such mechanics in the game. THis is to punish people trying to offscreen the boss. Mainly ranged characters.

      It's exactly like that.
      Some bosses are easy for melee. Some for ranged.
      I can nuke boss that is tough for melee acquaintance. But then die (one or two times) to a boss that was easy for him.
      Playstyle matters, adaptation to quirks of bosses as well.
      I died to titan 2 or 3 times. Then i just dodged basically everything, including his oneshot attack (which he does not use if you are in melee range afaik). I just hadn't stayed in front of his face at any point. (His resistances to ailments, though, were a lot higher than i expected to see in act 2 relative to other bosses).

      I noticed the game had stuff like this because of those shield enemies in the Mausoleum and the Tomb of Consort that shoot green projectiles at you if you're far away and also block 100% dmg. You have to walk into melee range, then they stop shooting and you bait an attack so they let their guard down, then you hit them and roll away.

      Or use some area entity based skills (like ice spikes) to slowly make his shield to stack stagger bar.

    12:17 Especially for "special" players, the developers made a sound indicating a dangerous attack of the boss and even a cry of an NPC in the background "RUN!", but players still die in the most stupid way. I think most players need to start "playing" the game, and not just pressing one button for damage.

    Bosses are designed to punish you for trying to off-screen them. This is because if you could see them from forever away, ranged builds would just always be the correct way to play the game.
    So no, they shouldn't just have you "zoom out more", people need to stand close enough to see what the boss is doing, If you ran too far away, you are being punished for it, deservedly so.

      90% of the talent tree is minor damage increases. There are next to no defense nodes.

      The passive tree itself needs buffed. 3% movement speed makes no difference when you already move at a snails pace. 10% damage increase means nothing when enemies scale.

    If there is something I learned from Poe2 is that most Poe streamers mechanics suck ass. I've seen so many easy avoidable deaths these past two days. I suspected this from some time, that Poe1 allows you to get either ridiculously tanky and ignore most mechanics or get ridiculous amounts of damage and kill everything before they hurt you.

      That's basically poe1. Either get enough damage to trivialize boss mechanics, or get so tanky that bosses tickle you.
      This is why poe1 started introducing immunity phases on bosses to force players to engage with boss mechanics.

    the colossus has a bunch of those stab animations that can hit any direction. it doesnt even seem to target you rather it just being random.

      that fight was ass with a minion build. melee skeletons group up around the hand and body block each other or fidget walking around it to attack, ranged are so squishy they catch almost any attack and die, curse and dots are almost useless on their own (coupled with minions not surviving or properly attacking, the curses arent fully utilized), and if you decide to pick the blood mage ascendancy, you lose health on casts and health orbs drop from suicide bombing mobs which love to swoop in when the boss does the full arena eye laser. that forward moving sword swipe does so much damage because i believe it all comes from the stones shooting out at the end which can shotgun you.
      tldr: minion build skill issues, im trying to get good.

      Out of all the bosses, that one was quite easy. Surprisingly his chest is relatively safe since a lot of his high damage attacks are in the middle of the arena. The only thing u have to dip out for screen blast that u have to take cover behind is dagger that he plants in the center of the arena

    People don''t know how to circle roll, It makes dodging melee hits so easy. Just stand really close to the boss and roll into them, the games roll pathing will always put you directly behind them.

      That's because on the client side you can roll before the attack but server side the roll didn't register intime.
      I have plenty of time to roll early enough if your standing right next to them, assuming you don't have bad network latency and the servers are not overloaded

    a tip I learnt the hard way. stuff your stash with resistances/armor items for early campaign. if you get hard stuck on a boss, swap your item to that boss element. The damage you get when you have 45% resist or 75% resist is NIGHT AND DAY. you have much more fail tolerance that way. I went from going 5x tries on a boss to max 3 tries every boss after doing that.

      My warrior started getting handled when I got to the manor. Wolf wrecked me. I respec’d, used currencies, slotted runes, optimized gear. 15 minute session of adjusting nearly doubled my dps, +50% life, and even though I sacrificed 150+ Armor I increased resistances significantly.

    Maybe zooming out a bit more for boss fights would help with a lot of the issues seeing the boss but if we can zoom out that far outside boss fights it'll make ranged builds that much better with abilities that don't have distance damage falloff.

    When I told people that alot of Elden Ring bossfights are BS because they have to be zoomed out more so you can actually see the tells, they told me that it's part of positioning and an important skill to have.
    Guess we don't need to zoom out more, just git gud and figure out your positioning so you can see :D

    1:10 - My thoughts exactly. I found that so many bosses have some melee/aura effect that is super strong, so the melee players have to constantly just dodge around it and there's absolutely no time to do actual damage, while ranged characters can pick off the bosses from distance, doing consistent damage, and ranged boss attacks are much easier to avoid. I spent 10 hours playing warrior, dying about 20 times, just to switch to mercenary, and die only once during the same timeframe 😔

      Ranged isn’t much different. It’s still often one attack, roll, repeat. The distance barely helps when you’re constantly being bum rushed by mobs/boss

      Currently playing Witch, I constantly have to dodge properly too. Do you think the mobs don't chase and just stand around? That bosses don't have big AoE? Ranged is more squishy than melee, so one of those attacks can end you. Building defense is important on all classes and for all builds.

      @@ExceedProduction Minion witch is unironically the hardest build till act 3. I've heard monk is kinda bad too, but the permanent minions do zdps and die in no time, and you can barely have 2, maybe 3 out with such limited spirit. RFS is basically your only hope and they can be scatterbrained and not focus targets, also they get wiped constantly when a boss has a flurry type attack that they do. You need the infernalist ascendancy and support level 2 gems for infernal legion before the build even starts to be functional.

      I get that, but I build 80% tanky from passives on my monk.. And it felt just as squishy as my sorc who I have only put point into dmg or stat points in the tree. Can face tank just as well(except slams ofcourse)

    I started yesterday as Mercenary and holy what fun class. For people who played games like Dead Nation and Renegade Ops will feel right at home (imo)
    Game is decently hard, trial and error. Mechanics are fun, worlds look really cool.
    One minor thing i'm annoyed about is the 'cockblocking' of enemies. More often than not you are stuck/pinned by mobs and die quickly.

    What's the downside of dying in this game? The time I died 2x from being trapped by hordes of monsters I stopped caring. Everytime I see a checkpoint I farm the monsters for EXP and Loots then have my character die and respawn at the checkpoint. I use this method to level up around x3 and I noticed the rarity of the monsters change. Once my inventory is full I go back to Clearfell sell/disenchant/forge to stack on items and gold. That's why I'm asking if there's a downside to dying because I would stop this strategy immediately.

    The more evolved games become, i see them fall in the classic evolutionary practice of "Range being better". This literally happened in homo sapiens, we learned its safer to stay from range and made throwable spears and then bows and then guns. Range is always safer, if the game wants to balance that they will have to favor melee more.

    7:20 You could even just move the camera between the player and the boss. This way you dont have all that empty space on the opposite side. That said, that might mess up with controls being different and mess up muscle memory.
    I just want to say that i am happy that I am playing on 21:9 Ultrawide and it does a word of difference. Some pop in sometimes on the edges though.

    Loving playing ranger so far. My only issue with the game is that dodge doesn't phase through enemies. Melee classes are suffering somewhat it seems. Everything else people are talking about right now feels fine.

    Re: Melee difficulty - Yeah, it's a thing. But playing monk and pushing through the early-early game to get a full bar of skills (lvl 5+ gems) paid off. Still a bit squishy, and new maps require adapting with different skills based off the monster types, but I have the tools to crush it. Frustrating at first, but incredibly satisfying.

    As an almost completely new player to Poe 2 (10 hours in Poe 1) I think there should be attack indicators on the ground. Like when a sweeping attack happens, a second before the attack lands, the ground the attack passes through lights up red or something. There’s a game called rabbit and steel that does it well. I have only around 4 hours in Poe 2 though, so not the best one to be giving advice I guess, but I think it’d help a lot.

    lmao, the dude at minute 2 is funny fellow, I noticed that you need to not have minimap active in boss fights, otherwise you will miss out a lot, I bet he did not see the miller attack because minimap was covering it :D, have had similar issues multiple times until I learned that when it gets hard, you hide that so that you do not miss clear telegraphed attacks

    I dont think the camera needs to zoom out more for the bosses. So far every move from a boss that i originally thought was cheap or unavoidable turned out to be completely avoidable. Also, a lot of the time, its better to stay close to the boss, learn the tells and coverage for the attacks, and then dodge everything.

    I also felt that you should be able to zoom out more, even with an ultrawide screen the bosses can still go over or under the screen easily, especially behind the health bar. (If a boss goes behind it's own health bar the bar should become transparent)

    Need red indicator on the groud. I don't think the solution is to zoom out more.
    You can just have a red circle when a meteor is falling on the groud, or a red triangle for a slash attack.
    If the boss is off screen it your own fault. Being able to zoom out would give range build too much advantage.
    I think everything game should have a bright red indicator for attacks. I'm no game dev, but i don't think it's that difficult to implement.

    i don't think zooming out is a problem with the quadrilla boss and the knife laser boss, because they don't have some crazy second phase or not easily understandable moveset. ofc for first timers they might not expect it. but the knife boss is slow and charges up while screaming AND quadrilla is in a huge area you can roam in, literally walk away

      You do realize that half of the ppl in this clip are like super legit players who invest hundreds of hours and threat the game like its their job,including Ben who is a fucking demi god gamer in multiple games.
      In general game isnt made right now to be tried in HC SSF setting,resources atm are too scarce you cant really fix your build with skill tree all while doing decent dmg unless you abuse one of the couple broken skills ,and bosses are still too unfamiliar. Only reason these streamers do HC SSF is to farm clips and twitch subs to milk game time as much as possible.

    4:58 imo the game needs shield gating. Being one shot like that is bs especially with shields up. To add during the shield gating there should be no way to restore shield during the shield gating and the shield regen starts after the shield gating. The best example is warframe shield gating.

    Zooming out in some cases can make game too easy overall. I would say that maybe that's intended to see nothing when you are too far or you have bad positioning toward boss. This forces a player to keep closer to the boss, but... if boss attacks telegraphing is bad that is a thing to fix for sure.

    I think a broken build would be, to make the charater as fast and mobile as possible, I mean like appear in places quick, run fast, teleport and dash through enemies, to completely confuse them. It would be interesting to see if that's possible to make it and how effective would it be.

    They have the camera zoom out for some of the cinematics before the boss fight, like the act 1 boss. They should use that to automatically zoom out during boss fights when the boss is near the edge of the screen so they're always visible.

    5:30 nah im with the streamer there, that right handed jab had zero telegraph at all. It came at the end of the fissure cracks. Slowing down the vid the elbow just extends right at the character in about half a second. Humans have an average adult reaction time is about 4-500 ms. Also there was no red indicator for an unblockable attack so thats an option there too

      PoE andies are a special breed. I like ARPGs, but endgame PoE gameplay is impossible to look at, it's mindless.
      It's a type of gameplay alien to them, they're aren't used to having to consider their surroundings or adapt to different situations. They optimise to do everything with one button.

      @@Psycorde Ive never understood folks who consider ARPGS highly difficult. Shit fighting Odin in the new FF7 rebirth is a fucking challenge. Boss just gets bored and one shots party if you take too much damage and or you dont do enough damage to him. Asmon braindead self would just assume its impossible and the developers would need to take out the one shot ability.

    Agree, colossus and the act 2 last boss basically force you to stay close as close to them as possible, because otherwise you will miss telegraph and attack will come out of nowhere.
    Little more zoom would be helpfull. Either automatic on boss fight starting, this way they could do it selectively, or just by increasing max zoom range in general.

      Right never played POE1 but some of the boss fights as warrior I felt like I was playing dark souls dodging and blocking between openings. Super fun

    Zalmarath was the coolest looking boss ive dealt with so far. From the way he slowly walks to the platform and all his movesets... so clean. Loved that fight.

    Totally agree about zoom out. Died on this boss twice because couldn't simply see his attack because of his health bar or map. It seems a little bit unfair when you can see your target, but it can one-shot you.

    Seems like a lot of deaths are people playing full screen length from boss which causes the outer UI to overlap. A way to easily hide the outer edge UI with 1 button could help or to make it more transparent

    Bruh if he says to “zoom out” one more time holy fuck. Yes it would make it easier to see what’s going on and then you can just run miles away from the boss and never have to go close to it again. If you walk far enough away from a boss of course you’re not gonna see it so maybe just go closer and learn the attacks

      You really take that comment to an extreme. No one is saying you should be able to see from a mile away. And to combat people trying to cheese the boss, it could go into retreat mode and either stop taking damage or start to heal itself

    getting killed by the butcher in the OG diablo was THE defining experience
    getting eviscerated by the first by the first big bad that you run into was THE thing that made diablo such a thrilling experience , you had just fought your way into this dark labyrinthine catacombs , feeling accomplished/powerful and immediately upon opening the door the butcher SHOWS you that you are small/weak/vulnerable in this place
    100% having the bosses being dangerous/threatening needs to stay , but i do concede that being able to zoom out another ~25% would not be a detriment to the experience

      The novelty wore off for me around the end of act 2. Too many poorly designed giant maps of trash packs that take too long to get through. It's not challenging, just tedious.

    Counter to Zooming out more -> Just stay closer to the boss so you can see. This is the Ranged disadvantage. If you want to pick ranged so you can off-screen mobs, they will also off-screen you.

      No one said shit about wanting to off screen enemies. The entire point of a non melee build is to kite and create distance. In its current state, you can barely do that before going off screen cuz well, it’s too zoomed in. Really don’t understand these over exaggerating brain dead comments

      You are not supposed to be able to kite bosses. Wtf? That totally defeats the purpose of a boss fight. It would be nothing but a big damage sponge.
      Let's say they would let you zoom out more.. you'd still be trying to keep enemies at the edge of the screen because it's the farthest you can click. It would solve nothing. If anything it would make ranged even stronger and more boring.

      @@redrepublic5557 there is also the problem of a circle arc. Being closer to a boss you traverse more degrees of a circle with a single dodge, than being far away. To avoid the possible aoe of the monkey totem from far away you would need 2 or 3 rolls. If you are close to it, you can roll once and now you're to the side or behind the monkey with no chance of being hit. Just stick close to bosses and they're easy (most of them)

    Sorceress has been a lot of fun and they’re SUPER strong with great wave clear, but if I make a single mistake I die. Whether it’s bosses or like a large group of ranged mobs who hit me at the same time, it’s absolutely wild how fast I die

      Yeah, I've noticed the same issue with my Sorceress. WASD helps a lot with avoiding a lot of positioning mistakes that I tend to make in other ARPGs, but I've still gotten melted a few times due to stepping in the wrong place.
      That said, I think most of my deaths were due to getting surrounded and melted by a group. Bosses got a lot easier after I figured out how to kite them around in circles, dropping AoEs behind me as I go to slowly burn them down.

      The skilltree is not bad at all. Mostly simple nodes to work your way through. And your class kinda just go in one direction(outwards). With a few turns here and there, if you want to.
