    To set the record straight.
    On screen fighters like Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung would be much faster and deadly in a real fight. In their movies they are doing lots of fancy styles and overdo all their moves by loads for the shot. When Bruce Lee was around he was training world champions who had a difficult time getting close enough to hit him.

    • @alikhawar520
      @alikhawar520 7 лет назад +10

      You are correct. But what did Bruce Lee do when he was on camera? He did exactly that. He also exaggerated his movements so that they would look clear on camera. You have to realize that in order to perform different styles on camera, these actors/directors/coreographers have to learn them first. And to be able to do it throughout their professional careers, they have to do rigorous workouts in order to be able to keep everything authentic looking. And that also includes sparring. Back in the days the old school actors you mentioned above, used to learn the entire set of movements and the application of the movements for every new movie project. Then they would spar with their colleagues for hours trying to figure out movements for fight choreography using those styles. So they have a lot of knowledge of different styles. With their skill set they might not become world champions in brutal full contact tournaments. But they are definitely better than most of us.

    • @perfectsplit5515
      @perfectsplit5515 6 лет назад +6

      Yes, Kathy Long said that in real combat, you do not want your technique to be seen. In the movies, it is the opposite - you want your technique to be seen. Bruce Lee and Kareen Abdul-Jabbar had to slow down their fight sequences in Game of Death just so the camera could see what they were doing.

    He's fast, man. Gotta give him that. I don't think he'd kill it in pro MMA, but he'd probably be respectably competitive. He definitely wouldn't be a scrub at all. But man, that kick at 1:36 was unreal. There was no telegraph and it was mad quick. Nothing but respect for this man.

      Donnie would've actually done in fighting if it weren't for his movie career considering his profound background in practical martial arts. He was well trained in many styles before becoming an actor

    • @NuevoVR

      Ffs, what is it with you mma fanboys. Mma is literally putting 2 fighters naked in a cage and making them score points on eachother, a real fight is under a minute and life or death. I do judo and muay thai and cant stand 'mma'.
      My point is why do you feel the need to compare everything with 'mma'?

    • @perfectsplit5515
      @perfectsplit5515 6 лет назад +8

      MMA is the most realistic organized combat sport. That makes it the most realistic standard. While it is not a perfect representation of no-rules streetfighting, it is the closest you can get to streetfighting while being organized and sanctioned.

      First of all, the first UFC was in 1993. Back in 1991 the only things we could watch were pro-boxing and martial arts movies.
