perhaps the original Nausicaa craft doesn't take into account standard earth gravity and the amplitude of forces acting on the glider. Considering this one is twice the size and much heavier. Even with some future tech engine and super light materials letting you carry the glider it's still never going to be as agile or small as the movie version I think
There are other differences between the anime/manga version and the real life model. The real life one isn't VTOL capable, has wheels instead of skids, the control bars are shorter, and the pilot lies on body of craft instead of suspending about a foot or so above it.
Congratulations!! must be a dream come true since the first flight. Simply amazed, the inspiration of the design and the hight of the flight
