Here is my full interview video with Roger Helton from Super Petrel USA. He talks more in-depth about this amazing light sport seaplane. From design to power plant, to flight characteristics. You get a proper view of what this airplane is like.
As from my previous coverage of the Super Petrel LS, This small plane is one of the easiest aircraft you can fly. very simple to operate and maneuver. Also simple is the price and available options for the super petrel. There is only one price of $189,000 and that buys you a fully stacked land and water airplane with a glass panel of Garmin G3X.
Super Petrel Specs:
Engine: Rotax 912
Speed: Up to 115 mph
Useful load: 537 lbs
Endurance: 6 hours
Price: $189,000

Excellent video...Thanks!
Thanks for presenting this amphibian.
Great work on this video Thanks
Love the design
Great video, thanks!
NICE!! WOW!! Thanks for this!!
I really like this frame.
I just came back from Ormond Beach and had the opportunity to fly this one. I have to agree, it was very easy to fly. Very maneuverable. It is now on the top of my list. Hats off to Roger. Thanks again for taking me up. Hope to talk to you soon.
Great video Roger, the Super Petrel is still at the top of my wish list. If ever you need someone in Australia.... LOL. cheers Wayne.
Excellent video and production, two thumbs up. Great information about the Petrel!!
Really nice aircraft.
I have always liked this little plane.
Nice looking aircraft. Great videos Mike 👌🏽
Great video!
Beautiful plane
Great video (again), Mike. Looks like the perfect airplane!
It’s great that you’re so open and candid about exactly what you’re getting for your money...
Interesting hull design with the oversized reverse chines looking like partial hydrofoils. would love to see how it handles rough water
Awesome video
Great video.
Thanks, Mike.
I need one of these. I live in Wisconsin but I’m stuck in Wyoming and need a quicker way back to my home near a lake in the Chequemegon.
I may need more fuel but I would love this.
As a multiple aircraft owner I’d choose this over an Icon hands down.
Laurent Pelletier I believe this aircraft is superior in performance and more cost effective. Personally my Cub on floats is much more of a performer and I can haul 4 times of what either can but I think this aircraft is nicer looking and safer than the icon.
The initial investment and cost of ownership would be significantly less. I also think this thing is sexier.
Also anyway possible you might be able to take a look and take a ride and review the Atol 650 amphib
Good job
Thanks for that open and informative video. And u even offer a free download with more information. Would like to go flying with you anytime.
I am not a pilot but this plane is a work of art to my eyes .
That is a really cool little airplane and the price is actually pretty good for all that you get. I might have a little talk with my wife tonight. I am actually very interested in this aircraft and I live in Minnesota, right on a private lake, which would work great. Mike if I purchase this aircraft I will invite you for a flight over Minnesota.
NICE AIRCRAFT !!
Those look like fun
Going for a flight in one is on my bucket list
Mike you are doing a great job with getting us more content sooner. If you are ever in Scottsdale let’s go flying.
Thank you Tim.
Could be used on the Salton Sea. Would 5 w 50 synthetic be recomended?
Are there plans to make a larger and longer aircraft?
How does it handle salt water landings? Do the L-gears feature any stainless steel?
Can you put a couple of fishing rods and 2 lunches in the back of the seats?
Good to know if you had to do a short water stop... Some what an inadvertent added feature.
Nailed it big time!! America's Finest and most thoughtfully designed aircraft ever!! This is a company truly worth watching!
This airplane is brazilian, made by Scoda Aeronáutica.
You mentioned wingspan and ramp width, that is a big issue in Michigan where I would be flying.
There are high posts on most of the ramp docks that would not allow a plane access.
I like the biplane design, but will probably look for a folding wing plane unless I can afford private access that is wide enough for this one.
B. Atwater well do you know about the Icon A 5, I think it would be a perfect pick for you.
great video. Its not as pretty as the icon BUT its much more affordable, you can actually get one, and the process seems to be all so much more uncomplicated! :)
Honestly think the bi-wing is far prettier - vintage looking! Gorgeous
@@jmm1000 I love that wing
Show more full-length photos/videos of the airplane.
#Great Very nice #Wao#
Will the super petrel take the viking 130 hp work as the power plant?
“We take your license and we add water.”
I picture this guy in a pub and putting my coupon in my scotch and soda.
thanks Mike.. great engineering .. very informative 👏
Good, Like...
please make a detailed comparison between SeaRay, SeaMax and Super petrel.
Roger is a well-spoken representative of this plane, thanks for the video
Good coverage. No wing-folding option.
Thanks for the video! Just got a seaplane rating AND this has a J-bar just like my old Mooney! Unfortunately, I'm in a state which allows seaplanes on only two obscure reservoirs.
Boring Baby Boomer Goes
Dig out your private lake alias “irrigation canal”...or “fire water reservoir”...
Enter the Humming Bird at 5:39
lol
Love the hummingbird coming in at 5:39 to check out this beautiful piece of aviation art.
Lovebugs... big flying insects, 2 together. Imported to Florida, they ruin our car grills twice a year when they mate. Then they go away. If you don't wash them off, it eats away at your paint.
A Brazilian project, amazing plane.
The pétrel was a French design which was bought and slightly modified to become the super petrel from Brazil.
@@MrPhilEU Actually the internal mods were significant including a new engine unit, changes in the hull, modernisation of the avionics, etc.
@@MrPhilEU No, the french plane was the Hydroplum II, the Petrel and super Petrel are brazilian projects.
Why not use a hydrofoil (s) for landing and take offs in water?
Hey Rog why don't you fly it up to Fairfield.
I'm 6,8 300 lbs, is there a light sport aircraft that I can fit in? Could I fit in this plane or the icon A5?
5:39 Hummingbird enters the pattern.
How much and, do you have it 4 seats? Again the 4 seats how much?
Gear down emergency landing, may work for an Olympic-sized swimming pool
Biplane+seaplane:😍😍😍
Would consider buying one if offered engine other than Rotax.
Can you get a turbocharged Achates engine in this beauty?
I need a light plane for longer range travel. My home is 1500 miles from where I currently work.
This is a perfect design. And with the ability to land on water, I have a machine that I can take to the lake next to my home and not worry about using the airport for anything but fuel… and with an Achates, I would be able to fly on my diesel generator fuel.
I wonder if you can get a ballistic parachute feature
This is my question as well
Last time I checked, this thing was $189,000.00 at 2018 Airventure in Oshkosh, my home town. That spring it was $155,000.00. Any way you look at it, for the size of the airplane and the small baggage capacity, the price is absolutely crazy. A very fancy ins panel that rivals a 747. Very classy but overkill. A while back you could build an experimental relative of this aircraft, made in the same factory in Brazil that is almost identical for less than $80,000.00. That would be your rough completed price. Not today. :) :)
would IFR capable be in this since several TCAs in California with squad identification.
I hope the adhesive used in your plane is better than the decals in the video!
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Seawind MkII ( add a wing )
안전한 복엽기 디자인이네요.. 엔진이 꼬리날게에 달렸으면 소음과 진동이 더 적었을텐데..
What about docking?
Shout out to the bug at 5:40
Legit trainer or I have to get my license by using a different airplane?
What pric
i love the biplaneseaplane! its nice to know that second wing is there in case you lose power.
$189,000 is actually pretty reasonable. That's a great looking plane.
The only thing it should about that flying boat airplane it should be able to carry 6 people then it be worth having the flying boat. In Hawaii you sell a good number of them
3:03 жесткое приводнение
This is a brazilian airplane guys so, thanks to Brazil, remember it.
You talk about engines put a V8 sumnit racing engine on that flying boat. Summit racing 800-230-3030. Then put a propeller 13 blades in the circle and the blades at 14 inches wide. That would get high volume of air and maximum pulling power and the prepeller made from hard steel and now you get better performance
IFR? Range? Cruise speed?
IFR possible, range is about 600 miles, cruise up to 115 mph
Too bad some states do not allow amphibious aircraft to land on water within the state.. Would be fun with this aircraft.
Glider 123 i doubt that. Aviation is federally regulated.
!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a searey and love it but man if someone could make a 4 passenger even if it was as tight as my fathers 1980 280zx that I say in the back of for my dogs, extra luggage or adult passenger sitting sideways for an hour would kill the market! I
Of all the lsa amphibs which one would you pick to own?
I'd take a SeaRay with the 915 iS.
The lack of hydraulic and electronic control systems is a good thing for a seaplane.
Who else saw the humming bird that came in for a look around. 5:41 - 5:47
I love this biplane design. If I had the money I would ask for a twin engine version with larger capacity.
Then it would not be
lite sport category...
see FAA rules.👍
Ничего не пойму но интересно.
он хвастался о мерах безопасности, затем дал информацию о ценах
How much fully loaded💰💰💰🤑??
Long live the biplane!
Range, speed, stall, give up the numbers. Thanks.
He rattles on about everything but those numbers.
There like a mile from my house 😳
No brs not brs chute? Dats cwazy
I would rather have a Super Petrel than a Icon A5. Icon is way too overweight.
Same here
the first generation of the Petrel killed my brother on a test flight at Oshkosh in 1992. The plane had been built with too few layers of glass in the tail section, the tail snapped off in flight. Manufacturers packed up and hightailed it back to brazil, the same day, leaving their dead demo pilot on the slab at the morgue!
Wow! I'm so sorry to hear that Carl.
Carl Johansson
What manouver and altitude did he make when it happened?!
What was the g load and speed?!
Beautiful airplane! However, anyone flying an amphibious aircraft who either makes a wheels down landing on water, or a wheels up landing on ground, really should rethink about their decision to keep their pilot's license.
Yes, sometimes equipment fails to do the job that it was designed for. I understand that.
I these types of incidents have happened enough to count on more than one hand, then one needs to ask if the problems have been fixed in manufacturing or if there are that many foolish pilots out there flying machines that they truthfully shouldn't be in.
Range?
about 600 miles
Attractive and affordable plane. It's gas mileage is better than my friggin car.
Considering the price, you would be concerned about gas millage??? Geeees!!
@@chuckbasics8972 Yes. Because I might not much money left after buying one. I'm ditching my car by the way.
So in three years the plane went from $189,00 to $225,000. Ridiculous.
