@@wolfcrow Because of that I got aware of the O'Connor 1030D and bought it two two years ago. The Sachtler FSB 8 just wasn't good enough for long tele shots
Extremely helpful Sareesh and a great channel. In fact I noticed hat a step-less counterbalance is really helpful. I currently use the Sachtler Ace XL with stepped counterbalance and even-though being an amazingly smooth fluid head and working fantastic in nearly every situation, I never get it 100% balanced. Which for Wildlife is quite critical, as using long telephoto lenses even minimal moves are immediately visible. In addition, again for Wildlife and with longer lenses, a 100mm bowl seems to be the right approach to eliminate as much as possible micro-jitters when operating the handle bar. Hence considering right now the Focus 10 from Cartoni. P.S. My Wildlife setup is a rigged A7S3 + Ninja V + FE 200-600mm lens + Focus One.
Great video man, I watched the whole thing and feel a bit more confident shopping for a fluid head now. How do you find the SCG head and tripod now 2 years on, have they held up?
which 100mm fluid heads would you recommend for wildlife filming, when used with a 600mm lens +1.4 TC on a super 35 sensor camera, where the rig weighs 8-10 kg?
Watch out when you travel in the third world. On my last trip to Cambodia, I used the intercity bus totally packed in with people and cargo. my Manfrotto tripod bag was upfront and I was shovel to the middle of the bus, when we arrived at the destination the bus flunky heaved by tripod bag out of the door of the bus. You could have made a great travel vdo of me yelling and screaming and cursing at the flunky. The head did not break but it sure as hell does not work correctly anymore.
Some young tuffs in Vietnam tried to nick my Canon from me while on a motorbike. They did not get the camera but I nearly pulled them off the bike. 1st world or 3rd world, protect your gear. (The old Canon makes a good weapon.)
Is it normal on a fluid head that the only the tilt movement seems to be dampend like oil or fat in it and the pan movement has much less force to move and not really dampend in motion?

What are your thoughts and concerns about Manfrotto's Nitrotech 608/612? Thanks.
Did you end up buying a Nitrotech? If so, how is panning when zoomed in? Hows judder?

@niqtamer_ It's a very good product for it's price, it's not flawless but it's up there, there is a learning curve, but I'm very pleased. Go buy it, you won't regret it. Search sellers now discounting for Coronavirus, Sales are low now so good prices are to be found.. ;)
Young filmmakers, don't use a fluid head. Use a gear head. The reasons are nearly endless. Your shots will be better and you will keep the director off the camera (unless I'm directing).
How did the SCG T8 perform after nearly one year of use? I'm sure there are also other people who would be very interested in hearing about this...thanks for the video!
an excellent comparison based on the real experience of someone who actually uses these heads in real conditions. Invaluable! Thanks for sharing with the community
Has anyone found any aftermarket baseplates for this SCG system? Looking for a baseplate that fits the SCG but also has screw holes in the base for quick use with a monopod.
Very helpful. Tripod head "bounce" has been a bugbear of mine since the late '90s when I had to use a friction Manfrotto head for video. Great to have a very complete overview of features. Wow, that Arri head looks eeeeexpansive. Maybe in future you could do a short video on the crossing point where hand movement no longer produces good results and motorized movement is required. ?
In filmmaking, nothing is required , just mere suggestions . It's like painting . You have traditional way of painting and then you have van Gogh haha there's no rules just suggestions
@@LeSourisRouge i actually did buy it(T6), and hm....when you zoomed in let's say 100mm and you paning and you want to stop it goes back a little....that it my biggest problem....I lost screw from latch on handle...the latches (or how they called) are not spring loaded....smoothness is kind of good ....but (maybe user error) to keep constant speed for longer pans is hard.... ask what you want to know I happily answer.
@@ondrejjanoska660 Thanks for the info! I have heard that sometimes after a while cheaper fluid heads can loose some of their smoothness and start to get stuck on pans and tilts. Is the T6 still pretty smooth (like when you first got it)?

I am having trouble deciding between SCG T8 ($600), E-Image GH08 ($700), and Benro BV8 ($800). The Benro has a bit higher load capacity but I cannot find many reviews comparing these. My concern is with quality of tripods as well as overall head performance. Can you please shed some light as I am having trouble finding reviews? Thank you for any help.
They are just fluid 'cartridges'. It's not a fluid head. Manfrotto continues with this concept with the Nitrogen (also a fluid) piston in their Nitrotech line.
You can use a high pass filter to reduce your background rumble. Roll it up to where your voice sounds thin then back it off. You can compensate for the lack of low frequencies with some background music with heavy bass like Electronic - I think it'd fit - maybe some from your native country.
It has its pluses and minuses. I also use it for sliders or other heads. But just for a travel tripod the extra weight makes no sense. Might has well just get a travel tripod with a bowl.
@@wolfcrow thanks, ya it doesnt seem ideal in anyway. But I shoot surfers from the shore and fly fishing from in the river with the sirui water proof tripod, so that's why I wanted to adapt it for a ball fluid head
Rented a fluid ball head but I didn’t see what I wanted... so I saved my $$$ and shelled out $2K for a Rhino ARC II and picked up the ability to pull focus or pull zoom...
In my case, I have a Z6 tethered to the Ninja V (ProRes Raw) attached on top of a Zoom F4 caged. I use manual focus legacy fixed Nikon lenses using Rhino for Focus Pulling... still less the 15lbs as 90% of my shots will studio with actors with specific lighting and sets and blocking... so setting up the Slider would only require a little more effort than a fluid head tripod. Not seeing a shot that can’t be done on the slider w/o the sliding??? This seems to be suggested by the Fstoppers review of Arc II with Rhino at 20:20 when the Slider/Arc II is in “fluid mode” it sounds workable... ruclips.net/video/uUE6iKlTJSs/видео.html
