Scar is definitely one of the most influential figures in the competitive smash scene. His personality is fantastic, his passion for the game is so real and he really knows how to keep viewers entertained. I'm glad you mentioned the Scar and Toph Show and The Reads. Aside from watching tournaments, those shows have easily become my favorite thing to watch because it reminds me of melee at its core. That is hanging out with friends, having a good time playing melee. Also I actually had no clue Scar contributed to the inception of twitch bits! Great video man, keep it up!

I was talking to Scar in Virginia right after Genesis results were posted with him at 5th. I've never seen anything about 6th before this video.
how do you know these things? did you actually go to the tournament?
This is super common knowledge. The TOs fucked up when they divided up the pot for payouts. They paid the top 5 players, and forgot that there is supposed to be 2 people tied in 5th. So Scar and M2K played the tiebreaker, Scar lost and got "6th place". Scar has told this story many times, on many streams.

online_soup_man yeah Scar doesn't really talk this sort of thing up much. Yes, he talks about himself a lot, but it's usually in a goofy way about random tournaments he did well at or players he beat.

This guy is a legend. I can see the influence he has from WWF in the way he speaks and handles himself. He’s a character of himself. The Rock, the ACTUAL people’s champ would be proud of Scar.

I hope the next Doc references more stories like this for players who helped from Behind the scenes. It's obvious that the players helped make Melee what it is today, but its not as easy to see people like Scar and their work outside of the top 8 stream.
