  • While it is rare these days, I do from time to time take the Train out to ride some routes I’ve not done before. This was a memorable one because of this amazing descent.
    Also a little bit of a recap and a few tips on how you’d bring a bike on a train, from local trains to the bullet trains, aka Shinkansen

    Enjoy the sunshine, looked like a lovely ride and well worth an early start. Thanks for the strava link, tells a bit more of the story. Nearest mountain road to me is 3000km away so I enjoyed the vicarious descending!

    Great video as always, Have you done the UFO line in Shikoku? If not put it on your bucket list. There is a terrific 150km loop from Saito Shi.

    Definitely need to visit this this month. I'm mostly riding around Kyoto with it's fair share of nice routes, but this looks pretty fun.

    I need to make it over to Shizuoka (and Nagano.. and so many areas) for riding. Nara/Kyoto has its fair share of great rides, though.

    Landing in Japan this Friday and I'll be cycling Nagano/Gifu prefecture with a mate for a week. I'm bringing my bike (we are hiring a van). I'll have a Scicon bag. Be taking the Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Ueda - hopefully no issues

      Don’t know if you’re being sarcastic or not haha… it is as basic as it gets everything is filmed with DJI action 4, all internal, auto exposure, straight cuts. No movie magic 😅

Only someone who has reached your level of production skill while keeping their feet firmly on the ground (i.e., zero inflated ego) could jump to the conclusion that they're being criticised, not praised! 😂 You are clearly very talented, on top of being hard working. You're possibly an extreme perfectionist who only sees the flaws in their own work. We, on the outside, see excellent results informed by superlative creative instincts.     Thank you for all your great videos! The bag you use in Shinkansen in a Fairmean one? I guess you use another bag for the saddle. Does it fit Shinkansen rules? I have a bag that covers all the bike but I'm interested in the Fairmean bag and just want make sure it fits strict Japan train rules.

    12:10 do You mean Avian Canary, since that is the one You presented on the side channel? I thought the Falcon was the stiffer albeit slightly heavier handlebar combo?

    I really really want to do this with my Emonda. But Jules said the current version of the firemen rinko bag still does not support a bicycle that can't fully turn the handlebar. I hate my current rinko bag that needs to disassemble front and rear wheels :(

      That was years ago now. Main reason is better battery life and multi-band gps

      @@ridesofjapan Quite curious on your map screen. My Edge 840 only allows up to 2 extra data screens, yours looks like it has around 6. Is it a custom Connect IQ field? Looks pretty nice when doing random exploring.

      @@ridesofjapan On Slayer of Grams you did a weigh-in of the Avian Canary, but in this video you say you're riding the Avian Falcon, which is their stiffer, heavier and more aero cockpit. It seems like an odd choice or did you messed up the names?

    Are you still on your THM clavicula SE? I am giving up on mine... Det blir glapp efter 200 mil och behöver justera preload igen. Blir så trött! Har du upplevt samma? Får spänna hårt för att undvika glappet men då spinner det inte så bra (BBinfinite WS2 ceramic coated). Dränkt skruvarna i loctite 243. Vill gå tillbaka till red axs...

      Inga problem här.
      Var lite knepigt med Chris King bb när det blev dubbla plast sleeves. Men med THM BB har jag inte haft några problem, dom är .5mm ”smalare”. Så det kan hända att du måste experimentera med plast brickorna (shims) för att få det perfekt med ett annat bb än thm. Från din beskrivning låter det som om NDS ”cone sleeve” sitter för lång ut.
