Orangutans are so unbelievably intelligent and talented. Granted people say that, "all they do is copy and mimic!". Well isn't that how people LEARN? Watching, training, and repetitive motion? Orangutans are some of the most amazing, incredible, beautiful, and intelligent creatures on this planet, and they have the most adorable and goofy little babies. Their hair spiked up and those big eyes so curious and lol nosy. They are beautiful.

The fact they do it again to solve their own problems is what makes them intelligent.
I wouldn't say the same for Chimps, I think they have more stubborn personalities and an already fixed culture and world of their own.
Meanwhile orangs are a bit more nomadic and solitary and mothers teach everything they know to their children, factors like this is why they can just pick up things.

I dunno about that, every video you see of monkey and apes (and animals generally tbh) seem to be filled with comments about how virtuous, wise, compassionate, etc the animal is.
I'd go as far as to say people give animals too much credit these days, and fail to understand the significant metaphysical difference between us and them.
Animals have feelings - they are sentient beings. They have some degree of intelligence. They lack, however, the logos. They don't have moral responsibility. They do not have souls. It's important that we remember this, and when people forget is when we start treating humans like animals.

Would be nice to have a few extra hyper intelligent species like that other than humans. Complex language is a huge part of our advantage, being able to pass knowledge between generations. Bet they're not that far behind us if they could use precise human-level language.

captive apes generally are not fit for life in the wild and certainly would not personally benefit from release as opposed to good care in captivity. what there should be is for apes to become the first non-human animals to be granted legal personhood. wild apes should be granted property rights over their territory, and captive apes should be put into conservatorships with lawyers repressnting their interests.
what would be complicated is that they most likely would need to have a right to reproduce, but it's debateable whether it would be ethical for the humans running the show to enter new generations into the conservatorship, or whether they are entitled to whatever effort is necessary for them to grow up to become fit for release.

"PET FOOD". They aren't supposed to eating any kind of human made food. Hell I like some sweet juice every now and then myself. Teach he/she how to field strip an automatic rifle, and you have the makings of a planet of the apes, jacked up on sweet juices.🤣

@@marlisaugsburg6538to be fair, even modern fruit has become unhealthy for them because we ruined plant genetics to make them sweeter. it's causing tooth decay and obesity in captive animals.
