Orangutans are so unbelievably intelligent and talented. Granted people say that, "all they do is copy and mimic!". Well isn't that how people LEARN? Watching, training, and repetitive motion? Orangutans are some of the most amazing, incredible, beautiful, and intelligent creatures on this planet, and they have the most adorable and goofy little babies. Their hair spiked up and those big eyes so curious and lol nosy. They are beautiful.
Cuties
The fact they do it again to solve their own problems is what makes them intelligent.
I wouldn't say the same for Chimps, I think they have more stubborn personalities and an already fixed culture and world of their own.
Meanwhile orangs are a bit more nomadic and solitary and mothers teach everything they know to their children, factors like this is why they can just pick up things.

I don't know why people are always so surprised that apes are this intelligent, we literally evolved from them
Many of us do not grow up in nature, or have a propensity to think we are apart from it. It can surprise people when they find animals exhibit behavior they once thought exclusively available to humans.
When a highly developed civilization of ancestors and creators created humans using genetic engineering, they took the DNA of various animals and monkeys, including their own DNA, hence our DNA matches, hence even pigs are related to us, but this does not mean that we originated from them, through evolution, we were created as we are.
Na we're cousins. We evolved from common ancestors. But they're still amazing and we're both part of the great ape family.
@@MrUmStudioNo, that's not how it happened. Plus if you believe in a god it'd take less effort to just breed us using guided evolution, which I believed in when i was a christian.

There is such depth and soul in those eyes. Understanding and intelligence well beyond what we give credit for.
I dunno about that, every video you see of monkey and apes (and animals generally tbh) seem to be filled with comments about how virtuous, wise, compassionate, etc the animal is.
I'd go as far as to say people give animals too much credit these days, and fail to understand the significant metaphysical difference between us and them.
Animals have feelings - they are sentient beings. They have some degree of intelligence. They lack, however, the logos. They don't have moral responsibility. They do not have souls. It's important that we remember this, and when people forget is when we start treating humans like animals.
@@SquareNogginsoul does not exist and you are a animal too.

Amazing. The precision, hand eye coordination, the swiftness of the movement. Quite clearly a highly intelligent animal.
They are one of if not the most intelligent species in the world and share 97% of their DNA with humans. Their ability to solve problems and use human tools through learned behaviour is incredible
It's so wild to live in a world with such intelligent creatures that are so similar to us. I would bet 500-1000 years of selective breeding could make them able to learn a language and communicate with us verbally. Would be nice to have a few extra hyper intelligent species like that other than humans. Complex language is a huge part of our advantage, being able to pass knowledge between generations. Bet they're not that far behind us if they could use precise human-level language.
That would be the least nice thing ever, it would end in a war lol
Fr & by far
@@tongpoo8985 Some apes like kanzi do understand languages and show high signs of intelligence however getting these apes to speak will be the harder part which I believe is only possible through evolution which will take plenty of years for them to go through to reach such a stage.

YES!! AND DIGNITY!
They are endangered
They look like Humans when they are naked
captive apes generally are not fit for life in the wild and certainly would not personally benefit from release as opposed to good care in captivity. what there should be is for apes to become the first non-human animals to be granted legal personhood. wild apes should be granted property rights over their territory, and captive apes should be put into conservatorships with lawyers repressnting their interests.
what would be complicated is that they most likely would need to have a right to reproduce, but it's debateable whether it would be ethical for the humans running the show to enter new generations into the conservatorship, or whether they are entitled to whatever effort is necessary for them to grow up to become fit for release.
