i was there. The whole show was filmed. Parts of the show were shown on CBS in a 2 hour special. Aerosmith was the only band whose complete performance was shown. Man in the Mirror was to be shown on the American Music Awards, but since ABC had exculsive TV rights to Michaels performances for 3 months, (for the 30th Anniversary Celebration) they could not show it. They let them show a very edited What More Can I give for the spiecal. I hope will come out sometime. Dick Clark has the rights to it.

I think just years and years of working and straining his vocals by giving the records and performances had an affect on him. You can see during this is that his voice started growing back after the years of rest. (if that makes sense)
Same could b said 4 Freddie Mercury. After being diagnosed with HIV (Later AIDS), he cut down on his use of smoking, drinking & with not doing gruesome tours anymore, he was able 2 let his voice heal & with the album “Innuendo” he could his higher notes like never before.

You should go to live music concerts more often. MJ massively used playback singing in concert like no other major artists. This was ridiculous. During the 1988 Grammys ceremony, in front of all the music industry, he was the one and only to perform lip synching... I can accept that performing songs with huge choreography, was impossible. no that part was playback too, it is not the studio version in the album though. that clip was used in dangerous tour, however in most concerts he switched to live earlier than the playback ended so that we couldn't hear the full version of the record.

Another lip synced performance during the most drug addled era of his life. I'm a huge fan, but not a deluded one. Mike was not "with us" during the early 2000s.

And it's mighty nice of Michael to organise this concert, take all this effort to get all the best artists together to raise money for charity.. even when he was going through health issues and personal problems.. and he didn't mind that he got no credit coz of contract issues.. That's the main reason we love Michael.. We love him as a person.. everything else is secondary. And he has proven his talents and abilities beyond any doubt. Michael paid his due as a live singer when he was with the Jacksons all the way up to the Dangerous tour. Even though he did not want to do anymore live performances after Bad tour because it took such a toll on him. I consider anything Michael performed after that, playback or not as a gift to be treasured. He paid his due.
