yeah but then it has other advantages, you're not bound to a C2/C6 faruzan to have a good xiao team, you're not bound to characters like zhongli or double geo because you have 2 healers in a team, it allows for better overall energy for the team since xiao skill generates particles, and it doesn't really matter that bennett's burst last for 9 seconds because he has a near 100% uptime, you just have to start your rotation again and do 200k/300k per plunge so yeah, you lose a combo, but then you're still doing way more plunge dmg, you still have an amazing subdps like furina that you also swirl with (bc remember when you do xianyun you'll have to choose between zhongli or faruzan, unfortunately you can't have 5 characters in your team, with vape xiao you don't need faruzan no more), and then you have much more ease to get that team, faruzan only appears rarely and she's not in the shop, while they've given bennett, he's in the shop, he's in more banners, and he's since 1.0, only problem would be if you can't do a second team without some of these characters, if you need bennett for other team then i would say its worse, but ever since dendro its just unlikely
Pyro xiao have higher ceiling. It just have higher roof with much more scailing. For example, the key, echoing call, furina consts, instructor ben, xianyun consts. This is why gaming is so insane as a 4*, the scailing is just amazing(specially gaming since he can use mariachi set by default)
yeah anemo xiao dps overall is quite a lot higher than vape xiao. People just see damage and think it's better, but 180k anemo plunges > 300k vape plunges
Here's the thing: you only got off 5-6 plunges in Bennett's burst window. That isn't even the 8 plunges that Xianyun enables. A Xiao burst, even allowing for imperfect play, should get off _at least_ ten. VV only lasts ten seconds, Bennett only lasts 12, but both of those timers are being eaten by animations and swap time. Getting off all 8 plunges is *hard*. I feel like a lot of folks also forget Xiao's damage ramps up throughout his burst, so those last few plunges are actually his strongest. With perfect play, Vape Xiao should be about equal, on average, per plunge, to Burst Xiao. But damage per rotation is higher if he bursts, on a slightly longer rotation. So, unless you're doing more than 2 rotations (or killing in one, in which case, who cares?)...vape isn't actually getting you more damage over time.
It will actually depend on how your rotations line up with the enemy spawns. If you have to use 2 rotations using either setup then vape Xiao is better. If Xiao can kill both in one rotation then anemo Xiao is better. Anemo Xiao is just way easier to play too so I would say it is the better overall team but you can cheat out higher damage with vape Xiao sometimes.
Yes? This is basically what I showed with both teams clearing in similar times. And of course you dont get the full 8 plunges, I don’t recall ever saying you do. I showed as much that the vape setup was much more annoying and inconsistent, but the performance is more than good enough to be an option that may be enjoyable to you. If you like playing Xiao why wouldn’t you enjoy new ways to play him? It doesn’t matter if one option or another is better if you can still clear the content, and therefore comes down to what you find more fun

i did try a pyro xiao build after this video, although with pretty low investment since i didnt have any good artifacts for pyro marechausee, yet i still hit ~140k damage
Anemo Xiao has less damage per screenshot but longer duration. It evens out to about the same as shown with those abyss runs. I would choose based on whether you have C6 Bennett or C6 Faruzan, since most people won’t have both of those available. Or just which team you would rather run!

pyro xiao rotation is this: Furina EQ Bennett NORMAL ATTACK, Q and then E (E is 2 units of pyro, it last longer) (adventurer handbook trick if needed for energy) Xianyun EQ Xiao 8JHP, EE anemo xiao rotation is this: Faruzan EQ (or just Q if you have C6) Furina EQ Xianyun EQ Xiao EE Q 8N1JHP+ whatever plunge combo is good at the moment until burst is off.
Definitely not getting many plunges with Bennett in the middle of the rotation. Burst will disappear along with infusion and you're losing time on infusion and his buff. Just one reason anemo Xiao is better. Not having to restrict yourself with timing to trigger vape, no circle impact, you get all of the buffed plunges, need more energy, etc.
If you want to play like this just use hu tao or Diluc - and you can even use Xiao on the other side without xianyun and complete both sides with plunge -the reason i love Xiao is aoe hitting like 5 people at the time and doing 100k to each for around 10 hits which adds to 5mil dmg in a cycle and that without counting the Furina faruzan or the support dmg at all

Yeah ultimately this video primarily shows the strength of the c6 benny/furina/xianyun core, which is what I expected lol. The biggest downside of that team framework is how it ignores a lot of the on field characters kit outside of minor differences between plunging multipliers
I could usually tell by watching what elemental aura was on an enemy (if it was hydro when I landed with Xianyun I didnt get the pyro swirl), though I also could usually just tell if I was missing 25% of the potential damage from Xiao (eg 100-150k instead of the 200k I was getting)
The only difference would be a small amount more anemo dmg bonus lol. I believe I was at talent level 9 for Faruzans burst in this video, so if it was level 12 there would be 5.4% more dmg bonus for Xiao. That is not a difference maker. Also, I do not think I ever said it was faster or slower, I believe I specifically mentioned how similar the clear times were. I only said “better” in the context of the dmg you see from Xiao, and at multiple points in the video I emphasized that there is more to something being better then just the damage you see (like ease of play)
Yes, you need to pyro infuse Xiao and c6 Bennett is the only way to do so. I thought I mentioned Benny was C6 earlier in the video but my apologies, should’ve made that more clear
Diluc is generally going to be better, though Xiao being anemo is potentially beneficial for your Xianyuns ER, and it’s just funny to ignore Xiaos burst but still do plunge Xiao things. Ultimately what melee unit you infuse with Bennett C6 in the team core with Furina/Xianyun is up to personal preference, wherein the difference between different units is just what weapon they are using and what they offer outside of their plunges imo
It's actually better to still circle impact with Bennet still, because Diluc burst takes too long, so it's time wasted where you could be doing for extra plunges. Diluc's burst doesn't have additional buffs besides the infusion, and its dmg is pretty weak, unfortunately.
