i had been playing with rechargeable portable amps since 20 years ago the best portable was the 'Crate 50 rms watts Limousine" with 12 volt acid rechargeable battery 8 ahm ,with that battery the volume goes 50 rms but to play with high clean, place the volume half only,,now the Fishman amp and the Alto Uber amp use the same battery ,no way the Alto will give 100 watts, the only portable that give 100 watts RMS is the PA amp Carvin stagemate that us the same battery and can last 3 or 4 hours playing a high volume, the quality of the sound of the Carvin is way better than the portables i did mention, Carvin is a well know sound and guitars company, i listened someone that play the fishman in the park , the fishman does not have "delay" only reverb ,and is not my favorite amp , i prefer have an Alto Uber fx portable play with it anywhere and give my opinion, i know Guitar Center sell that amp ,so i can go there and return in case i don't like the amp.
The Alto wins.. But the Fishman is pretty badass for its size

Like your video. How would you describe the sound with the Über fx when singing? Is it like a clear sound or more like singing in a box? I have tried the smaller street cube and it sounded awful. I am thinking of buying an Alto uber fx, my PA is Alto and I like it. But I'm not sure about the sound in the Über fx. 🤔
For what they are (small battery powered amp) i think sound pretty decent.. i have ran a line out into large pa systems and they sound fine. One thing to keep in mind is.. sing a few inches off the mic, dont get super close.. it will distort a bit if you sing hard into it. All in all, the altos and fishman sound good.. i live stream my sets constantly and am always happy with playback. ✌️💓🎶
Hey! If you still have the ALTO Uber FX, could you do a short test with the bass? I’m interested in buying an ALTO, but I play both guitar and bass and I have no physical store I can test it. If it can be used for a bass/guitar/percussion trio, that would be awesome. Thanks!
Thanks for the review. What equipment are you using for your foot drum pedal sound and how are you plugging it into the amp If the amp has two inputs and you already are using a Microphone and a Guitar .
Foot drums are just acoustic.. i just blend the mic and guitar volume to that level. 😊✌️🎶
Vocals on the Fishman were very clear. The Alto Uber Effects was good for vocals too, almost equal to the Fishman I would say. Alto Uber (small one), the vocals were not so pronounced. I would go with the Alto Uber Effects based on this video. Loved the fluidity of your performance.
Thanks Bill. They are all good amps. I been using the fishman more lately.. it sounds a little bit fuller/richer when i mic everything (even my drums now). I replaced the internal battery myself for about $30. 😁✌️🎶
@@paulolives.onemanjams you prove the old adage "if you want something done right, do it yourself." Maybe I'll save up for the Fishman after all.
Hy Paul, I've loved your reviews about Alto Über FX, and in the end I've bought one ! But... what do thing about the JBL Eon One Compact, and the Bose S1 Pro ? Thinks for yours advises :-)
Thanks 😊 i havnt tried the JBL or the Bose so i cant comment on them. But I can say i played a gig recently with my fishman (replaced the battery, was testing it out) and the performer before me stated that he liked my fishman and wish he bought one instead of the bose.
I recently bought the jbl eon compact.. its good.. but fishman has the clearest sound. 👍
Hi Paul , really good playing and informative video ,. have already subscribed too, just wondering have you ever tried out the roland amps like the street cube and if so how do you think it sounds. Reason i ask is that I'm on two minds between the Fishman and Street Cube (original)...My set up is vocals, acoustic guitar and harmonica with loop pedal use on ocassions.
i have never played the roland in person. i chose the fishman for myself based off online reviews and videos. my research on these two amps lead me to believe that the cube is more designed for an "electric" guitar whereas the fishman is geared more towards an "acoustic". imo, i think the fishman would be a great choice for your setup. :)
@@strangeindeedband Thanks Paul, I think you're right, given the cube is catering for electric too whereas the fishman is deigned solely for acoustic, the fishmans gotta be the better option for my set up.

Hi, really good video. I see that you have now replaced the Fishman battery. Which of the 3 would you recommend ? Is the lack level control on bluetooth a deal breaker and also which sounds the best overall?Thanks
Fishman sounds the best (clear and loud). For bluetooth volume i use the volume control on my phone.
