I still absolutely LOVE my AKAI AA1050 Receiver or my AM2800 Amp through JBL 4312A's...... even by todays powered speaker system standards..... the quality of clean/crisp retort my vintage AKAI 1050 delivers is in my opinion..... outstanding !
If you use it wisely and the spray is good quality it does not damage. Of course u can dismantle the pots and switches and clean them but being vintage, in the future you will still have to clean them with spray from time to time.

Well built and beautiful. As been sayed before, be really careful with contact cleaner. This spray can be agressive and even destroy metal contacts and plastic parts. There are several products on the market that are not this agressive but of course also not as powerful. Best thing but cause a bit more work, to uninstall the switches and clean them directly with leather pads. Contact points of the relay: open the relay and put a piece of a strong paper, wetted with contact cleaner, between the contact points and start the receiver/amp. The relay contact will close, now pull put out the paper slowely and the contact points are clean. This will work as long as the contact points are not worn out. For full service check also caps, bias and so on et voilà

Hi Andrew, It actually matters where you spray and how much you spray. In my opinion u sprayed to much and also you got the liquid all over the board. Friendly advise, put some napkin around the pots next time, in order to absorb the excess.
I tend to spray lil to much it never hurt anything. I had some go in the display thought I messed it up, Dried next day. Mind you most I work on are in such shambles that most won't touch, probably why I spray lil to much.
I'm gonna give you a tip because, you can use contact cleaner but the process can cause damage. If you want the thing to work for another 20 years, use the oil called Ballistol Neo-Ballistol. Does not damage anything, made with natural products, just buy a syringe and spray a little of the oil, and just wait. Ask to your friend about this, maybe he knows.
Be careful not to use window cleaner on the faceplate as I understand the lettering may come off. These receivers are great sounding units, a lot like Yamaha.

Als de ruststroom teveel verlopen is na al die jaren heeft dat vaak een hele negatieve invloed op het geluid. Het is heel belangrijk dat je dat even na meet. En voor de rest even de stof met perslucht eruit sprayen, want stof is ook inductief. Dat was het dan wel zo'n beetje.😇

I know professional repairmen who say NEVER to use this kind of spray. It works for a while, but it can actually damage your device.

Not really servicing is it, I have actually serviced mine with new power capacitors and such.

I have the Akai AA-1200. 120 Watts per channel. It is quite the beast.

It's not going to hurt anything. It's a cleaner and evaporates within seconds
