Both of those are AMAZING! Have you seen the original art for the Mysterio cover? I like the black and white version even better. That Red Skull cover is fantastic, there's so much detail! Thanks for the comment!!!
Thank you. I love these vids. And finally... someone giving 301 the due's it deserves. I have always said 300 is a guady looking book. Its still nice too look at but 301 is absolutely stunning. I think its the repeating 300 on the cover that just does not work for me. But yeah... 301 white cover with original costume is my favorite from your list.
I agree with every word in your comment. I have to admit though, there ARE days when 300 is my favorite. My tastes constantly change. I read an interview or hear someone's perspective and I try to look at things with fresh eyes. Sometimes by the time I'm done editing my video, I've already changed my mind on certain things. Too fun! Thanks for the AWESOME comments!
It's a very interesting McFarlane run featuring some of his best and worst covers. That Hulk one is something else. I really hate that blue foot sole on 300. 301 presents better.
I really thought I would catch a lot of flak for liking 301 better. I'm glad other people feel the same. I like this format better than the brackets, it seems to work. McFarlane's run on the 1990 series is very similar, some of his best and worst covers. Thanks again for the great comment!!!
300,301 both are so similarit depends on which costume I'm liking at the time, 312 and 313 are my top choices. 313 probably my favorite being it was his first cover I attempted drawing. Did you know about the little spider games Todd used in the covers?
I completely agree, it DOES depend on which costume I'm liking at the time too! My preferences constantly change. 313 is so amazing! I used to study it to see how he built those hands. SO good! I had forgotten about the hidden spider games until you mentioned it! I'll have to revisit these covers some day and show all the hidden ones and how he'd put the number by his signature. Then I'll show the hidden Felix the Cats he used to hide inside too! How fun! Thanks for the great comment!!!
I don’t know if you’re aware of this little fact. At Marvel John Romita’s Spider-Man was considered the quintessential version. And all artists after Romita were instructed to draw Spider- Man the way Romita did. In fact Romita would be instructed to touch up other artists work so that it looked more similar to his work. McFarland bucked the system and changed that. When McFarland left Larson was instructed to make his Spider-Man more like McFarland’s that’s why he came off as a knock off of McFarland. Last fun fact. McFarland often is credited with changing Spider-Man’s webbing. He actually copied the webbing from artist Michael Golden(I think that’s the artist). Todd saw it in some comic before he was a professional comic artist and thought, “That’s how Spider-Man’s webbing should always look.”
Very cool! Yes, thank you for sharing!!! I had heard most of that before. From what I've read, it's possible that Art Adams was the inspiration for the webbing. Adams drew Web of Spider-man Annual 2 in 1986 which was over a year before Todd came on board (Adams cites Golden as one of his favorites). And just to defend my man Erik, I personally never thought of him as a McFarlane knock off. I saw enough differences to like Larsen's Spidey just as much (and sometimes more). Thanks for the AMAZING comment! Much appreciated!!!
Those Mcfarlane Spiderman issues are all so well illustrated throughout each book. Man I love that run he did. I think McFarlane had finished doing the Batman year 2 around that time or something when he started on Spiderman.
Yes! His run on The Incredible Hulk was in there somewhere as well. He also did Invasion for DC about then as well. Love his stuff! Thanks again for the AMAZING comment!!!
@@becky33burl You had me going there for a second. Spider-man Terror is a GREAT title! But YES, for sure. I WIILL be reviewing Torment. I'm kind of working in alphabetical order, but that's one I will probably do early. Those are some of my favorite covers! Thanks for the comment!!!
I made myself a comic called spider man terror so basically venom and the sinister sit is about to kíll spiderman but then a symbiote named vitin that i purple and black it make spiderman a ruthless monster what wil kill every thing and anything so he kills all of the sinister six venom and 6 kind people and im work on issues 2 and 3 so yeah hi and bye
i agree with you in the 298,spagetti webs, big eyes and dinamic poses.the cover is just white in the background but is not that bad I give this cover a 8 of 10,in 299 I agree with you again its the white in the background again, same charaters, they just soldiers in the ground,I give this cover a 7 of 10.the 300 I dissagre with you [in my opinion] its too simple spiderman pose it's excelent but the rest its just a bunch of 300 and a circle,I give this cover a 7 of 10.301 its the same cover just with the classic suit, the title have some webbing and the circle is green now,I give this cover a a nice homage,I give this comic a 7 of 10.307 is a cameleon close up and its like he being lighten up by a spider signal or something like that its very strange,I give this cover a 7 of 10.308 I agree with you again the webbing in the title returns, the moon is just a yellow circle and the face of taskmaster looks stupid but spiderman is nicely done,I give this cover a 6 of 10.309 for I agree with you the yellow and the purple looks terrible, spiderman is very well done,Mary Jane close up is so generic and the yellow villains look like cutouts of cardboard in a paper,I give this comic a 5 of 10.310 the whole image its black ruining the cover, spiderman its very good but the pose is so simple, the yellow is terrible and the webbing in the title returns,I give this cover a 5 of 10.311 spiderman is reflected in the mask of mysterio, spiderman pose is very strange ,but I guess is the reflection efect,I give this cover a 7 of 10.312 the background is white again with some smoke on it,the green goblin is very well done and the hobgoblin is too very well done and spiderman is very well done,I give this cover a 8 of 10.313 is a close up to the 2 charaters the lizard is excellently done and spiderman too,the lizard is lifting the mask of spiderman while him is bleeding, spiderman suit is broken in the hands and the webbing in the title, I give this cover a 8 of 10.314 is just spiderman jumping of a building saying 'and stay out' and a man dressed of Santa Claus says'ho,ho,ho' while Mary Jane is sitting on the steps this a terrible cover, I give this cover a 5 of 10.315 spiderman is being defeated by hydro man,a part of spiderman is above underwater and they changed the scheme, the background its just white and venom makes a cameo appearance, spiderman is very well done and hydro man too,I give this cover a 8 of 10.316 spiderman is in a place with destroyed wooden and venom is over him with his arm extended and his hand is covered with blood, the background its just purple with some lines, venom is excelentely done and spiderman too, I give this cover a 8 of 10.317 the black suit its attacking spiderman putting his tentacles in his face, arms, hands, legs, head, fingers and foots and the background its just light blue, the thing makes a cameo appearance, spiderman is very well done and the simbiont too,I give this cover a 8 of 10.318 spiderman dodge the scorpion attack breaking a wall collapsing with a explosion, the background its just white, but the scorpion and spiderman they are very well done, the spiderman pose its excellent,I give this cover a 8 of 8 of 10.319 spiderman is attached and he is on the middle of rhino, scorpion and whiplash, the background is just white, spiderman, scorpion, whiplash are very well done,I give this cover a 8 of 10.320 paladin is just standing and behind him is a wall, his gun is making smoke and behind that wall is spiderman standing behind paladin, the suit of paladin its too simple, paladin and spiderman are very well done,I give this cover a 6 of 10.321 paladin, silver sable and spiderman are in dinamic poses, the background its just smoke, paladin, silver sable and spiderman are very well done,I give this cover a 7 of 10. 322 spiderman is holding a bunch of agents which are sticked to his webbing, the background its just yellow, spiderman is very well done, spiderman is in a ruins of wooden,I give this cover a 7 of 10.323 Captain America and spiderman are posing, the background its a wall, captain and spiderman are very well done,,I give this cover a 6 of 10.324 spiderman he sees from he own eyes how sabertooth attack him, sabertooth and spiderman are very well done,I give this cover a 7 of 10.325 spiderman its dragging a flak and a giant red skull head its behind him,its very well done,I give this cover a 7 of 10.327 spiderman its punching hulk so hard that hulk is colliding with the trade dress, its very good,I give this cover a 8 of 10.nice video of a underrated channel, like and bye.

Yes! And I will cover Todd's run on the 1990 Spider-Man series soon. They're so good! This video is a review of McFarlane's work on the Amazing Spider-man title which is separate from his later work. Excellent comment! Thank you!!!
This guys thinking is hilarious. #299 is a mirror image of #298 and it only gets a D rating. Same dude says #301 is exactly the same as #300 and it gets A rank!!! 🤔 🤣
Yeah, but it's got STYLE. Michael Jackson wasn't the first to moonwalk, but he did it the best. 299 was a duplicate. 301 was a revolution, a callback to the classics. 301 made a statement! If that got your knickers in a scrunch, wait till you see my ranking of Liefeld's New Mutants!!! Remember, no one's opinions are going to be just like yours, variety makes the world go round.
